Babet
Age 11

started with urethra blockage unknown to us, seemed sick and vomiting for a day, became listless so we took him to vet.
Turns out he can't urinate, bladder full of blood, kidneys failing, blood work looked dismal.

Poor baby was in pain so we euthanized him otherwise his bladder either would have burst or he would have had a heart attack due to his potassium levels.

We said goodbye and tears came out of his eyes.
I've never experienced a death before.
It feels like he's still around though.

I felt his last breath with my hand.

He was a marvelous Cat. We could never forget him

“It’s an interesting thing. Seeing Kuan Yin relating to a flower so intently. She's not just looking at it; she's interacting with it…I’m seeing how the act of relating to a flower appears to be so simple. Yet, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to make such a “simple” act important. Now, the lotus is floating away.”

The first time I read this, my eyes welled up with tears. Now that I have composed myself, there still really are no words.

I am really sorry for your loss

that is very sad.

I can only imagine your sadness. I have 2 cats and I can barely think what you are going through.

I lost my dad when I was young, and although it is a terrible loss, that a 13 years old is not prepared to live, loosing a pet that is dearly loved is something difficult, if only because it is difficult for other to relate to the depth of our mourning.

you can appear stupid if you take days off because the death of your cat has affected you. but having 2 at home, I know that it will affect me big time when the time comes.

regarding the disease and his situation, was it possible to operate? I hope you don't mind me asking.

again, sorry for your loss

babet RIP

ps: I don't know about the rainbow bridge mentioned above (I read the link posted by randall but) I mean I don't subscribe to this, although it sounds reassuring, but I believe humans and animals are essentially the same and babet will return as a lovely human one day. thanks to your love. that's just my view

So sad I can't really focus on much else, I'd imagine I'll be mourning for a while.
Thanks everyone
My three year old sort of gets it.
I cry in waves through out the day. Sadness wells up the recedes in cycles. You go through everything in your mind wordering if something could have been done differently. No operation could haves saved him, even unblocking his bladder still wold not have fixed his Kidneys. Only transplant can fix renal failure. If we found out as soon as it happened maybe there would have been a chance.

I had a dream about hm last night he took human form and we were together, I'm not sure why he took human form but he told me a lot of things from his perspective last night, it was my hubby's cat he had him for ten years before we got together, he's crushed, but he communicates with him and we both know exactly what his purpose was, nothing less than beautiful and selfless of him.
