when linda writes of why 9 does not correspond to a letter, she says it is because in the "most secret esoteric orders, it has been said that the number 9 is synonymous with the "mystery name" of the Supreme POwer over life, which has nine letters; therefore, it may not have a single letter of the alphabet representing it."

am i to understand the reason is held in that mystery name contains nine letters or that there is another name, which is the mystery?

Since the mystery name of the Creator totals 9 according to the kabalists and other mystery schools, no single letter is assigned the number 9 as they felt this would be disrespect to the creator if one single letter had the value 9.

To add to that theory as to why there is no letters assigned to the number nine -

when you add any number to the 9, the nine disappears, so the nine in the letters key is absent, in honor of that mystical quality of the 9.
