Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this board and am posting because I happened across one of Linda's books,"Star Signs" ,in a local thrift store. I had seen the book for years ,but had never read it. Anyway ,I picked up the copy and when I read it I was astounded by the Chaldean numerology section!This system is obviously a link between the Hebrew letters and the tarot and the thrity two paths of the Kabbalah.It was so profound to me because I could never make the tree of life come alive before. It was just an interesting abstract. But when i was able through my birth and name numbers to actually figure out the paths I was on ,it was simply profound!My name number in particular, it made so much sense it was amazing!
I've been reading metaphysical things forever ,but this was one of the most important finds for me. It made so many things make sense.The only thing that comes close to this feeling is my discovery of astrology when I was twenty two.(interesting number!)Strangely enough I'm going to be 44 in a few weeks. 22 years after astrology, now this.
Anyway ,this has opened up so many metaphysical doors for me and I will be eternally grateful to Linda for showing me through her wonderful book.
I think back to 1986 ,when a woman friend of mine tried to get me to read "Star Signs " and I told her I had too much to read and couldn't!Oh,well ,it only would have saved me about twenty two years of searching ,no big deal,lol.
What's funny too is, that since this is essentially a Kabbalistic numerology,I would discover it in my forties,which traditionally is the proper age to study!
Anyway, the main reason I wrote this post is that i am searching for more inforamtion about this system. The rules of it's application seem to be far less numerous than it's cousin pythagorian numerology, which I think is a valid but derivative system.Does anyone know any other books on this subject or have experience with this system they can share? I am desperate to learn as much as possible. It brings the whole Kabbalistic system to life for me!I feel like I've found the source of the nile
I would be deeply ,deeply grateful for any help in findout as much as humanly possible. This means a great deal to me!
By the way my birthday number is 21/3(The World Card)
And my name number is 31/4.(The Hermit Card)
Also I've had some luck with looking up Freemason ideas and Rosicrucian concepts. Also the golden dawn people are pretty good and Eliphas Levi.The whole 18th century tradition has much to offer,but they do make mistakes in various places that can be tricky to avoid.
Anyway, I'm so happy about all this!. I try to get my friends excited but few are willing to get into like I do. So I thought I'd find like minded seekers here!
Thanks for your patience and I hope I haven't gone on too long here. I'm just so excited and happy to find something I've been looking for since I was very young. A system that lives and opens the door to the mysteries!Of course it has been right in front of me for years! But then again that shouldn't surpise me,that's where the mysteries always hide.

Greetings...

Well.. for starters you could try Cheiro's Book of Numbers by Cheiro.

The Kabala of Numbers by Sephariel is also good. This covers both the Chaldean System and also Pythagorean methodologies, as well as some more obscure techniques.

For more info on the Tarot, Qabalah and Astrology, I always recommend Paul Foster Case's Tarot: Key to the Wisdom of the Ages, well actually anything by Paul Foster Case. Check out the archive section at www.lvx.org for a free copy of PFC's An Introduction to the Study of Tarot.

Hope that helps a bit.

Blessings...

Thanks Foolsgold,Aselzion and Lotusheartone,
I could tell this was a sweet board the first time I looked at it.I appreciate the replies, it's a nice welcome!
Hi Aselzion, thanks you for the information . I do have Cheiro's book of numbers. It's a great book and is filled with many little numerological gems. My only problem is that there is no formal sytemization to speak of. he gives some rules ,but then seems to add new ones later in the book without really telling why or drawing great attention to it. If you read every word of that book you can get the basic rules he offers,but you have to work for it.
Also I have the Paul Case book,thank you, it's excellent and offers a sort of global taort symbolism that is very enlightening. I will check out the website.
I've been reading and buying tarot books like mad,now that I know how important the symbolism is.I've figured out some intersting things that i hope are correct and I'll post some of my ideas soon.
Hi Lotusheartone,
I agree it is like a master key.It is one of the most important finds ever for me. And it's been right in front of me for so long. I tend to be very focused and if I'm interested in something everything else is kind of ignored. Mistake! I should have delved deeper into the cards and the realtionship to the Kabbalah.
Hi Foolsgold: here are some of the things on my mind right now about the subject.First I would love to know how the pythagorian system developed .Was it wholly derived from the Kabbalah or was it a hybrid system? So many mysteries!I think it is definitely anterior to the Chaldean system. because of the master numbers. 11 and 22 are extremely important and pivital numbers in the Kabbalah,but in no other system. Therefore pythagorian numerology must have at least borrowed from this system. There are 11 sephirot if you include Da'at.11 is the first path leading out from Kether. There are 22 letters. The last path on the tree of life is the 22nd(tecnically 32nd). Too many coincidences.Also why not make 33,44,55,66,etc master numbers. They would have double potencies also. In any other system it would make sense.But if the system is based on the tree of life it would have to be 11 and 22.The first and last paths of the Hebrew letters. Anyway that's my feeling.
Also Maybe the pythagorian system has retained the formal rules of numerology and develpoed a different system. Maybe those rules can be applied to the chaldean system equally. I haven't done this extensively.But has anyone else tried?
Another important thing is that there may still be things to be uncovered. As in astrology, the ancients didn't have all the answers, not knowing about the trans- staurnian planets. So maybe numerology is still evolving. I think the main numbers stoping at nine is maybe wrong. Why not have 10 ruled by pluto. It would correspond to Malchut on the tree of life.And Malchut represent the earth plane.If it's right then the world is very plutonian.Transformational, Evolving ,snake skin shedding, power oriented,sexual and intense. Sounds like the Earth plane to me;-)! I remeber years ago i read a tantric text that described the earth as power. I think the title was "Shakti: The World as Power" or something similar. So why not make 10 an elemental number. Lets try it and see if it works! The wheel of fortune(10th card) certainly has a transformational feel to it. But jupiter(ruler of the 10th card) and pluto energies don't match. But cards and numbers can supplement and balence too. They don't alwyas have to match up!
I'm also looking for a book by W Westcott called the Chaldean Oracles" has anyone ever read that?
Anyway,I'm probably going on too long :-)

Thanks for the replies guys and hope this post was of use to you.

Hi SkyFysh,
I think of 10 as the number belonging to the planet Earth..

taurus and libra share Venus
gemini and virgo share Mercury

let's give 11 Pan Horus to Libra
and 12 Vulcan to Virgo
???

what do you think
I have been stuck on those numbers
and the signs...

Hi Lotusheartone,

Thanks for your reply. I guess my post yesterday did take after all. I feel kind of silly now with the other two posts!
Anyway, the ideas you mentioned are very interesting. I honestly don't know enouh about the theory behind those rulerships to comment. I've studied astrology quite a bit ,but I have to claim ignorance here. You got me.Maybe you can help me understand. How do you see those energies fitting in with 11 and 12 and the signs? It makes sense that each sign would have a planet though. so you might be on to something.Maybe you can educate me.I'm always open to new ideas. I'll also start researching and see if I can come up with anything about it too. maybe we can brainstorm together and come to an answer:-)
I also some cool tidbits to share with you about numerology I learned last night!I read a book about pythagoras and it seems his numerology may very well have been gleaned from many sources. Egypt, babylon, and many other countries he travelled through! he spent almost forty years travelling and acquiring wisdom. (And i thought i was intense!). he actually became an egyptian priest ,but was able to keep so much of his teachings secret But I did find out some intersting things. First of all he represented numbers as geometric figures. One = *
Two=** Three = * etc.
* *
Numbers became identitfied with the shapes they made. Some made square ,some rectangles and some triangels. This is so cool because it helped me understand the realtionship between 3 and 10. Both of these are trinagle numbers.

3= * and 10 = * (Tree of Life?)
* * * *
* * *
* * * *

This brings up so many questions?What about the shapes of other numbers? Numbers in the thousands and millions ,what shapes do they make? Pretty fascinating,don't you think?
Also I always wondered why 3 in numerology = jupiter and yet the tarot trump 10 =jupiter. 10 reduces to 1 ,why not a number that redcuces to three for jupiter? Now I know becasue 10 and 3 are connected because they are both triangle numbers! Pretty cool,don't ya think!

Also here's the biggie for me,(I hope you don't know this already)but the tree of life has 231 gates and if you add the numbers of all the tarot cards together you get 231!

isn't that amazing just try it. 1 + 2 + 3+ 4 + 5 etc all the way up to 21. The cards are the 231 gates!!!!!!
I think it's so cool to find this stuff out! it's really what I live for:-)
Anyway, let me know more about your astrological ideas Lotusheartone ,I am interested!
Talk to you soon!

You know what's funny Lotusheartone, I was reading your post again and I see the logic behind your ideas.

11 reduces to 2 hence the taurus 2nd sign /libra 11 connection and 12 reduces to 3 hence the 3rd sign gemini/ virgo 12 connection! I never really thought of that!
I really think your on to something.Please tell me more!Do you have any other astro inspiriations?!Astrology is my first love, so this is pretty exciting for me!!!!!!!!
Thanks

To Lotus...

Personally, I'd prefer you didn't speak to me at all.

If you have problems with the way I conduct myself or my forum perhaps you should take them up with Randall, or your psychologist.

I find you rude, offensive and hypocritical... now that I have said my piece, I shall say no more to you.

May God grant you great health, great wealth and great distance...

Hi Lotusheartone,

Sorry about the brief reply before but i was on a library computer and was running out of time. Nothing is worse than writing s long post and then having the computer go off!
Anyway, I agree with what you say about astrology being a map to transcend. It represents influences i think that we shoild attempt to rise above. So I'm with you there. we can get too caught up with our signs and aspects and not see who we really are on a deeper level.
As for literature and poety, I love it too. If it weren't off the topic of this board I'd love to get into great books and poetry with you!I've not read much history though, I must confess.
What other metaphysics do you like?
I'm mostly into Indian mysticism(upanisads,tantra, hatha yoga )native american spirituality and Kabbalah.Also I'm just starting to get into Egypt, which has always intimidated me before. But there seem to be so many fascinating things about it!
Oh ,before I forget. I found the W.Wynn Westcott book I was looking for online. You can look at it for free;-).It's at www.esotericarchieves.com. It's called ,"The Chaldaen oracles of Zoroaster". It's so much like the kabbalah it's astonishing. I really wonder who influenced who sometimes. Although I intuit that the Hebrew Kabbalah was first.
What do you think?
I like the way you put things. Seeing the numbers after 10 as children. I think it's a very beautiful idea.I think the way you write is very lovley and ethereal. I really like it!
What did you think about the 231 gates and the addition of all the cards? Pretty good ,huh? (No need to applaud!)
Actually I'd love ot claim i discovered it ,but i didn't . I read it in a book.But the funny thing is the book made no mention of the 231 gates. So in a way maybe I did discover it.(you can applaud now!) I'm not sure the author knew! The whole book was wrong in my opinion except for that one little gem! it made the whole read worth it!But it also shows if we're creative and fool around with some of these things we can still find new ideas !

Anyway Lotusheartone ,
My computer time draws to an end.
Nice talking to you!

Cross and Circle

the Pleiades are the central group of the system of sidereal symbology. They are situated in the neck of the constellation of Taurus, regarded by Madler and others, in astronomy, as the central group of the system of The Milky Way, and in the Kabala and Eastern Esotericism, as the sidereal septenate born from the first manifested side of the upper triangle, the concealed (picture of a triangle*). This manifested side is Taurus, the Symbol of One (the figure 1), or of the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Aleph (bull or ox) whose synthesis is ten (10), or Yodh, the perfect letter and number. The Pleiades (Alcyone, especially), are thus considered, even in astronomy, as the central point which our Universe of fixed stars revolves, the focus from which and into which the divine breath, MOTION, works incessantly during the Manvantara. Hence--in the Occukt philosphy and its sidereal symbols--it is this Circle and the starry cross on its face, which play the most prmoinent part.

5. Hence, the inscrutable God is called silent by the divine ones, and is said to consent with Mind, and to be known to human souls through the power of the Mind alone.

19. Natural works co-exist with the intellectual light of the Father. For it is the Soul which adorned the vast Heaven, and which adorns it after the Father, but her dominion is established on high.

FOHAT

Stanza V

1. THE PRIMORDIAL SEVEN, THE FIRST SEVEN BREATHS OF THE DRAGON OF WISDOM, RPODUCE IN THEIR TURN FROM THEIR HOLY CIRCUMGYRATING BREATHS THE FIERY WHIRLWIND (a).

(a) This is, perhaps, the most difficult of all Stanza to explain. It's language is comprehensible only to him who is thoroughly versed in Eastern allegory and its purposely obscure phraseology. The question will surely be asked, "Do the Occultists believe in all these 'Builders,' 'Lipika,' and the 'Sons of Light' as Entities, or are they merely imageries?" To this the answer is given as plainly: "After due allowance for the imagery of personified Powers, we must admit the existence of these Entities, if we would not reject the existence of spiritual humanity within the physical mankind. For the hosts of these Sons of Light and 'Mind-born Sons' of the first manifested Ray of the UNKNOWN ALL, are the unphilosophical dogma of a specially created soul for every human birth--a freash supply of these pouring in daily, since "ADAM"--we have to admit the occult teachings. This will be explained in its place. Let us see, now, what may be the occult meaning of this Stanza.
The Doctrine teaches that, in order to become divine, fully conscious god, --aye, even the highest--the Spiritual primeval INTELLIGENCES must pass through the human stage. And when we say human, this does not apply merely to our terrestrial humanity, but to the mortals that inhabit any world, i.e., to those intelligences that have reached the appropriate equilibrium between matter and spirit, as we have now, since the middle point of the Fourth Root Race of the Fourth Round was passed. Each entity must have won for itself the right of becoming divine, through self-experience. Hegel, the German thinker, must have known or sensed intuitionally this truth when saying, as he did, that the Unconscious evolved the Universe only "in the hope of attaining clear self-consciousness," of becoming, in other words, MAN; for this is also the secret meaning of the usual Puranic phrase about Brahma being constantly "moved by the desire to create." This explains also the hidden Kabalistic meaning of the saying: "The Breath"...

H.P. Blavatsky, I found this interesting!

(c) Fohat, being one of the most, if not the most important character in esoteric Cosmogony, should be minutely described. As in the oldest Grecian Cosmogony, differing widely from the later mythology, Eros is the third person in the primeval trinity: Chaos, Gaea, Eros: answering to the Kabalistic En-Soph (for Chaos is SPACE xaivo, "void") the Boundless ALL, Shekinah and the Ancient of Days, or the Holy Ghost; so Fohat is one thing in the yet unmanifested Universe and another in the phenomenal and Cosmic World. In the latter, he is the Occult, electric, vital power, which, under the Will of the Creative Logos, unites and brings together all forms, giving them the first impulse which becomes in time law. But in the unmanifested Univerese, Fohat is no more this, than Eros is the later brilliant winged Cupid, or LOVE. Fohat has naught to do with Kosmos yet, since Kosmos is not born, and the gods still sleep in the bosom of "Father-Mother." He is an abstract philosophical idea. He produces nothing yet by himself; the NOUMENON of all future phenomena divides, so to speak, but to reunite in a mystic supersensuous act, and emit the creative ray. When the "Divine Son" breaks forth, then Fohat becomes the propelling force, the active Power which causes the ONE to become TWO and THREE -- on the Cosmic plane of manifestation. The triple One differentiates into the many, and then Fohat is transformed into that force which brings together the elemental atoms amd them aggregate and combine. We find an echo of this pimeval teaching in early Greek mythology. Erebos and Nux are born out of Chaos, and, under the action of Eros, give birth in their turn to Aether and Hemera, the light of the superior and the light of the inferior or terrestrial regions. Darkness generates light. See in the Puranas Brahma's "Will" or desire to create; and in the Phoenician Cosmogony of Sanchoniathon the doctrin that Desire, is the priciple of creation.
