Don't you guys think astrology just puts a label on everything? I mean what's the point of all this signs nonsense anyway? Is it helping out for the better good of humanity?

Don't you ever just think that your minds believe in this stuff because you want to?

Astrology for me, is just a way for people to try and find out about life and why we are here. But at the end of the day, we will never know.

I used to believe in this stuff, especially all the soul mate stuff, but what exactly makes anyone think that they have a soul mate? All we are is mammals, do animals have soul mates too? I think not. We are here to live and die. We don't have some higher purpose or past lives.

The human mind is a powerful thing, and it gives some magnificent illusions. I feel astrology is just another one of them. I hope I'm not offending anyone. I just have been reading through the posts lately and I had a strange, irritating feeling come over me. Who cares what sign we are. Astrology cannot define who a person is or if they will like you or not. Besides, what's the point? Just live your life and stop trying to put a label on everything and everyone.

Amen

Astrology has been a means to helping me understand myself and also others.

I walked away from astrology for a very long time. And came back with renewed passion.

EDIT: I do think we have purpose and individual lessons and reasons for being here. Everyone is different.

May be Astro is an illusion for you. But for me, after learning astrology, i have realized much more benefits..

I understand my parents better.. understand my siblings better. When in conflict with my wife, I know the reasons of her demands. I can understand where she is coming from.

For me, It's a blessing.

But yes, i never fall into Soulmate crap. I also never go into all aspects and every single details. I do believe that when we go into extreme level of details.. we are talking about illusion as I see on this board many times.. (Many of detailed aspects, details actually can easily track back to just the Sun sign)

In my work life, I am so much prepared with a person when I have seen that person's chart.. e.g. My Scorp boss.. the man has three Sco planets and an Aries moon, Virgo Saturn.. ruthless as they say.. So, others get frightened.. but I use two simple principles.. Integrity (Sco Sun) AND Challenge (Aries Moon)... He had a lot of doubts when I started working with him but within a month he has been speechless with my approach.. Lucky I am because I found his birthdate I have also been lucky to know upfront that he is Not someone to fool around with random jokes.

Now, question is.. if I didn't know astrology and didn't label all of above people.. would I still take same actions?! I don't think so.. but it could be my current 'illusion' believing that way..

Hope I am making sense

i feel the same way you do, but about relgion. but my faith is logic, my logic says no such things as ghost, but if i was to witness phenomenons, then i would have to believe it unless proved otherwise.

i feel the same way about astrology, im more of a science person than faith person, but if something is accurate about things to a T, how can you deny it?

saying astrology is just another 'illusion' is a poor argument to prove that it is an illusion or that its not real.
if your gonna go on to say it doesn't do this, and doesn't mean that, atleast try and provide proof for it. im not trying to disagree with you, i like to agree. but i can only agree on things if it works, or can't seem to be proved wrong, or if logic can't prove it is not real.

I agree, sometimes its better to believe your illusions than believe in nothing. I'm always in a state of delusion thanks to my transiting Neptune trine natal Venus in the 7th, I'm not sure what is concrete or what is a fact. My fascination for astrology has become something of an obsession, not sure if I'll ever snap out of it!

I am strong believer in Astrology.
I didn't believe in Astrology until 1998 at the age of almost 27 years old. I thought Astrology B.S. until that time until I found about moonsigns.

I am skeptical of some of the regular Astrology stuff like using tropical zodiac for people born in southern hemisphere. I focus more on the geometry of Astrology. I don't focus a lot on the signs and houses. That's why I like geometrical based astrological systems

I am into Asteroid Astrology, and I say that it actually strengthens my belief in Astrology because the asteroids show very significant synchronicities. I do believe that things happen for a reason. I have posted about my mom's solar return period when she met my father. When see stuff like that, it reminds me that our meeting people is no accident. It's like it's meant to happen. I believe that the universe is full of purpose. I believe Astrology and other divination systems work because of synchronicity and that everything in the universe is connected in some way.

I don't believe that Astrology is an illusion. The perception of illusion is relative, and that's the same with religous and spiritual views. Diversity is a fact of life. Diversity in everything on our planet, and so there is diversity in Astrology too.

If people think Astrology is an illusion, then maybe it's not for them any way. I believe that Astrology is for me. I feel that part of my spiritual path is to help others as an astrologer.

I neither believe nor disbelieve in astrology (or religion for that matter). I think it's got some interesting observations and it's helped me learn more about myself by adding to my awareness. I can't imagine myself 'believing' in anything 100%, because I like to just speculate and gather info and if it serves me on my journey, then so be it.

And yeah, in a way everything is an illusion, I think, to an extent. I agree with Galucus about diversity - it's very true...I think astrology helps us become aware of diversity. I personally can't stand labels or boxes and categories either - and in fact studying astrology has broadened things for me, more to someone besides, Oh so and so is an Aquarius, so they should act like *this*, etc...
You just start finding out how complicated and different everyone is, and it's like a validation that you can't fit anyone too much into one place or another.

At any rate, astrology is just a passion to me, and I find it extremely interesting, and that's about it.

I see astrology as a metaphorical system for exploration of ideas and energies, and I enjoy it in that capacity. I don't believe in anything as "true" or "false" or simple...the world changes radically according to our perspectives. So to me, trying to pin down a fixed or universal truth isn't very interesting...I'm more interested in delving creatively into life's mysteries and seeking fun and adventures.

Personally, astrology has helped me understand my feelings more. Before, I had no idea how to put my feelings into coherent thoughts, so basically I would just ignore them.

Astrology has also helped me understand that people are very different from me and want different things and think differently. It has helped me be less judgmental.

I love astrology, because it makes me feel like the stars are in me.

Kismet* try a different approach, perhaps a more expansive view will give you some renewed inspiration. Try reading up on the mythology associated with the constellations and then daydream about the symbolic characters and scenarios. See where that takes you.

Another approach is to meditate on a planet to give it some kind of incarnation that is pertinent to you, say the Sun and its house position if you know it. Take note of your impressions and write them down. You can do this with aspects down the track and can even take the situation further and let your imagination take you on a story with them. This can be very interesting and revealing, but be careful these impressions can be very powerful so do some grounding afterwards like sweeping or cooking or whatever makes you feel like your feet are on the ground.

that sounds like a good idea...but the weird thing with me is that i can't meditate when i want to, by that i mean choosing to sit down and meditate...i can go into a meditative state by daydreaming..but i definitely like that idea.

as for the topic I'm drawn to astrology because it helps me understand people and situations better. Yes the details can drive you crazy but as for the general aspects and planetary positions helps me understand a person, their emotions and goals in life. It help answer my Why? questions all the time, give me a reasons and the best possible solutions. Like Got Gemini I search for understanding, so far astrology has provided that for me.

Leaping,
I'm not a traditional pose meditator - I am best when I am comfy like lying on the lounge or before I go off to sleep. I call it meditating but its really just kinda thinking but it changes as you go along and eventually you're not thinking the thinking is doing itself. It starts from a normal ratty thinking point and its about not feeling like you have to be anywhere else. I get exhausted in my life so eventually I often end up asleep or end up having been very quieted and rested. Sometimes its like you have been given a stilling drug and you are watching a movie and you are slightly aware that your body is like some kind of sand bag lying there.

Astrology helped me discover the importance of my Ascendant Sign, and helped me turn into a much better person.

We have demonstrated 100s of proofs for Astrology on these forums, you seem to be confusing the Free-Will of Soul Mates to break hearts as a flaw of Astrology. Disbelief or Belief is in no way going to stop the mathematically precise functioning of Astrological Impulses.

Have you had your Saturn Return? For many people it takes a Saturn Return to awaken spiritual truths.

You must learn to stay away from the "astrocrappers", people who use astrology to hurt and judge others do not really understand astrology. Thats why I was so "iffy" about astrology because certain people made me feel like crap and tried to pinned the problems of another person on me just because we shared the Same Sun, Moon, or any sign or aspect.

I had to learn I am my own person and I project my own atrological energies, in my own way and studing astrology as taught me that and now I can laugh at all the "astrocrappers".

The problem is when ppl put everything they have into astrology and then get disappointed when yes logic or simple common sense was needed. Ppl come here with the most stupid questions..

Is it ok to go to the bathroom at 12:00 on Feb 15th..**rolls eyes** Silly stuff like that..I don't care really what a chart says about me and another persons relationship I am going on how I feel and if I feel that its a fit. Rather the charts good or bad. Just try and use more logic and common sense and it won't be or seem so illusional..
