I thought I'd share, since it seems so many people on LL have suffered abuse & mom issues...
Tonight I attended the premier screening of Dir. Tyler Perry's latest film, "For Colored Girls." This turned out to be a very intense Plutonian film. Extremely Mars-Pluto or VENUS-PLUTO dynamics in each character's relationships.
Going into it, I roughly knew a major focus of this film was on mother/daughter issues. So I decided to take my mom as my date because I was hoping she would get something out of it.
The film was amazing, but most of all suuuper intense. It covered a lot more issues than I expected...many issues resonated deeply with my mom, as she's experienced them before. She was holding back choking up & even had trouble breathing.
In a nutshell without giving any story away, the film closely examines the relationship dynamics of 8 women. All, whom have given up their own power to others. Showing how human nature can be so resistant against change for fear of being, "alone." Until they're ground to the core & forced to face with the extremities of life & death...Which by then is too late for some. How people in general refuse to take, "responsibility," for their own lives. How it often takes great tragedy before it finally "clicks,"...initiating a huge plutonian transformation.
This film, is actually a theater play written by Ntozake Shange in 1975. For those of you who didnt know, it's an important & significant piece amongst the African American community. Initially Oprah had asked Tyler Perry not to attempt this as a feature film. She felt it was too important & intense to be messed with and feared the film would soil the name of the play.
Personally I think it turned out quite spectacular. Tyler Perry did a good job directing...the acting was just intense. You could feel Janet Jackson's pain, channeled through her own life experiences. I think this film will probably be an Oscar runner for 2011.
I hope everyone of you, who's ever been in a bad plutonian relationship will give this a chance. Box office opening Nov. 5th....GO WATCH!!
