Greetings to all.

Riddle me this. Is it just me, or did Linda really not have a great amount of positive stuff to say about Cancer?

Do you also get a sense of bias towards the signs of Leo, Scorpio and Aries? I do understand she over-generalized a lot.

However almost every one of her chapters made Cancerians sound somewhat pathetic. Emotional, annoying, weak (she used these words a lot, albeit not in the same sentence). The only positives were usually about Cancers that 'recognized' and 'owned' their seemingly 'weak' nature.

Made reading it difficult and un-applicable in terms of compatibility with the sign, as I have a lot of strong, positive Cancerians in my life (most with several major planets in Cancer also).

Thoughts? Just musing.

MOJ xx

Positive or negative bias?

I have strong aries&leo influence in my chart and I agree with her, no offense to anyone.

i felt no bias against scorpio and i didnt think what she said about cancer was too negative...in fact i liked it, maybe its got something to do with my jupiter in cancer....i thought she got every signs positives and negatives, not just cancer, aries, leo and scoprio as all signs have positives and negatives

oh and welcome to LL

Hi guys.

I should have clarified - I referred to largely positive bias to Leo, Scorpio, Aries. Balanced for most other signs. Just reading Cancerian compatibility, there is a lot of mention of concepts of clingy, sappy, annoying. Pisces doesn't always fare much better. It seemed for all other signs that they had to learn to 'tolerate' Cancer (or Pisces). To me, it painted an un-evolved view of the sign. Of course, personal perception here. I appreciate Linda's insight, in any case. But reading the book back to front, Cancer stood out in this way.

shrugs

I take sunsign astrology books with a grain of salt. I don't own one. I have to take the whole chart into account.

However, I believe that there is truth in what astrologers write about in the sunsign books.

Haha, MOJ. That's how most websites portray the signs of Cancer and Pisces. But they also say that Cancers have an outer shell (at least cancer), and they purport that this is the strength people see in the cancers they know. You would never think a cancer is all that sensitive, and you'd think they're pretty optimistic, outgoing, and jovial. But that stuff they always say about us is true. We are all about emotions, and about making others feel more comfortable with and embrace their own and others' emotions. That is our role on this earth.

Cancers can be a lot of things, so they are hard to pin down and describe to any one trait. Seriously. But one thing we (yep I'm a cancer) all have in common is that we're sensitive and we worry a lot. As most people do....but, we FOCUS on that because it's our role to fill others up with emotion. That's just how we are.

Now if Linda ever said that the other signs have to "tolerate" us, I take offense to that (kidding). Because we cancers don't make friends with people unless we know they can tolerate these kinds of things. It's what a true friend does ...and we make sure to choose loyal friends .

If you want to ask me whether I'm a pessimistic person, whether I'm a worrier, whether I'm weak and pathetic, all I can answer is that, Like everyone else, I try not to be. And that's all that matters

I don't know if I am or not because I don't judge myself like that. I suppose that everyone is weak on the inside, they just don't show emotions and vulnerability like cancers and Pisces do.

Thanks for the input guys, and the welcome.

I got me the problem of having a rebellious streak for widely accepted concepts. To be honest, I was bored after a while in Love Signs, reading through the Cancerian archetype. Don't get me wrong - Cancerian complexity is legendary, for sure. As is Linda's insight. Just all seemed a bit 'emotionally unstable 50s housewife', how many Cancerians today are really like that? I am keen to read about the other side of Cancer. Just as surely as every Pisces isn't some pushover, or Scorpio isn't some manipulative dangerous recluse.

I don't have huge astrological experience yet, but do have three major Cancer placements, which is hear is a sh*tload. I think it can be beautiful and blessed influence on one's chart, especially if it's positively placed.

My point is, I thought Linda painted a somewhat one-dimensional picture of some of the signs, and was wondering if anyone found the same thing. It could just be me, though, and that's fair enough. Can't wait to soak up the wisdom of these forums.

Greetings to all from Australia. xx

Cancer rules our IC.
It's the feminine aspect our our personalities.
If it were suppose to be anything other than what it is, there would be no balance.

I love the emotionality of cancers . It's my favorite water sign and I find it frequently in people I like. Emotions are soo important too..

I'm not sure what elements create this exactly, but my mom is a cancer and is a fabulous cook and cooks tons of food for fun. No complaints there And my cancer asc boyfriend.. so nurturing! My cancer moon boyfriend did the laundry and cooked paninis on a regular basis! It's weird but just them expressing their emotions felt so healing to me..

Raspberri - is IC the 4th house? I'm not yet too initiated. Also, do you think that the 'feminine' aspect is necessarily as extreme in its Cancerian depiction as described by Linda?

Diablo - Tell me more.

MOCHAI - I completely agree, and yet do you find these people to be the stingy, emotional wrecks described in the books? I'm thinking not. My former man also had Mercury in Cancer (as a double Gemini, this was obviously a major placement for him), and his mission in his communication was to 'save people' from their delusions.

The money thing, too - most Cancers I know spend like no tomorrow, and the stingiest person I ever knew in my life was a triple Aquarius (my dad).

By the way, what are all your signs?

MOJ xx

Ditto with my best friend (a Leo with a shitload of Scorpio, interestingly). Self-absorbed, unwilling to change, emotional vampire. Sucks (literally). Your sis's sign?

Sometimes, amputating them out of your life in one way or another is the only way.

Funny that this thread should come up exactly when the one of my cousins who was never interested ina strology asked me about what cancers were, and I had been coincidently aslo comming across my other cousins and brothers mercury in cancer, and also researching, venus in cancer for anothe person on this board, and then I was wondeirng about my favorite musician whose a cancer and why othe rpeople liked him...obviously cancerian music has na apeal to a cappy, by why others...

also interesting to note that I got that answer from my sister without asking...

wth is going on here...anyone know?

Not sure what that means that she's on your 12th house cusp, but hopefully I'll get the hang of all that eventually around here. Though aren't Scorpio and Aries part of the same sort of 'thing'? Perhaps she was an un-evolved version of you.

And yes, you'd think that that much Scorpio in someone would signal transformation, wouldn't you? But the Leo possibly stands in the way. Over-dramatizing, hostile, me against the world attitude, extremely needy, run around in circles for years and years type of person. I CAN understand it, however I don't believe it's all as doomed. Insanely attractive and magnetic to the opposity sex, but ultimately 'persona non grata' for most who bother to invest and get to know. People just smell the bad energy and walk away. The general consensus, of course, is 'everyone's jealous of me'. And granted, a lot of people are. Yet, that is clung onto as a sense of pride and individuality, with no attempt at eliminating what it is that's keeping her stuck in the same dry, pointless emotional patterns 'poor me, I'm a the victim here'. A lot of talent and potential that never goes anywhere. Lives off male attention.

Bane of my existence since high school, keeping this person from some kind of spiritual suicide.

When I focus on the higher mind, sex, death, and transformation.

Interesting.

and when I focus on creativity i attract aries

ist his the way it works...or is it more when just by default...since most my plantes are on the other side of the chart where I have cancer..

I have cancer on two signs in my house 2nd and 3rd....with no planets except a few asteroids that I found but nothing more or anything to give me any hits...it's tough I can't look up all the asteroids at once...does anyone have software or something they can recommend to view all asteroids taht are particularly significant or a custom list at once....astrodient only does like 10 at a time.
