Dear Coffe,

I am thinking in a sinastry. here the man has 7H ruler in mercury. mercury is in scorpio, while his venus is in Libra. what do you think. does he looks at intensity in relationship on all the stupid things that venus in libra search?

your input or any other will be of great value.

Thanks

He looks at relationships with intensity, yes. On the surface level, he will say that he wants someone to 'communicate' with. Deep down, he's looking for that more Scorpio bond.

on the surface level he wants a Cancer person. Maybe someone he feels 'safe' with, while deep down he wants a Leo person. Someone who is 'fun' with that little bit of 'child' in her/him.

Sign on the 7th house is what they want on a surface level, while the 7th ruler in a SIGN is what they are looking for deep down.
Just insert different words for different signs.

Got it?

Well… I’ve always thought that the 7th house cusp and it’s ruler referred to the specific combination of traits that an individual is attracted to. Our ‘type’ does not consist of just a single sign, but of a variety of different characteristics all mixed together in another person. For example, perhaps the Gemini
Dsc, with Mercury in Scorpio and Venus in Libra, falls for a Scorpio Sun with Gemini rising and Venus strongly aspected in the natal. Or they see their ‘type’ as someone who is witty and fair, but also deeply sensitive and committed. It’s never as black and white as “I only like Geminis”. However, I have noticed that house cusps are better at determining what you are attracted to then Venus or Mars, in terms of what signs show up in the partners natal. Venus and Mars seem to point towards the physical characteristics of, or external circumstances surrounding, the partner, rather then than the internal psychology of the partner themselves…. For example, Mr. Venus in Leo is ’blown away’ when he sees his girlfriend dressed in bright yellow or gold, but he has an Aries Dsc ruled by Mars in Pisces, with the 5th house in Aqua, ruled by Uranus in Scorpio…. His girlfriend is a Pisces with moon in Scorpio, Venus in Aquarius, and Mercury and Jupiter in Aries, with Mars in Taurus but still in her partners 7th house…

House cusps indicate the partners natal more strongly then Venus or Mars most of the time….

Just thought I’d add… in summary…

Venus and Mars are about the circumstances of relationships in general, and our external physical types… they represent the accessories we want our partners to come with… like Venus in Sag wanting an educated partner (formally or informally) who may be from abroad, or is exotic in some why… or Mars in Gemini liking people with a slender, wiry build, who move quickly… (of course these preferences can be modified by aspects to Venus or Mars).

Where house cusps for relationships… the 5th ,7th and 8th… (especially the 7th) seem to be much more literal in terms of the actual psychology of our partner, and what signs/aspects they have strong in their natal. If you have a Scorpio Dsc… then your partner probably actually has strong Pluto/Scorpio/8th house in their natal…. This is more likely with the Dsc, then with just Venus or Mars in Scorpio…

I had thought of the 7th house ruler as a kind of personal Venus, so mine is Mercury - I thought that meant the way to my heart was through my mind, but with your theory it would be the sign and house that would reveal something about what I like in a person right?

So Mercury in Virgo would mean I like a person with Virgoan qualities deep down. Does the house have anything to do with it also?

I don't really look at the placement within a house. Just the SIGN on the 7th cusp, and the SIGN in which the 7th ruler is placed. 2 signs. One on the 'outer' circle, and one on the 'inner' circle.

Coffee,

thanks. one question. why do you need the AC. You just use the ruler of the house and the sign of the ruler.

Lotis white. as usual, you are great at expressing and analysing. thanks for sharing.

let me play with coffee theory for a while

my DC in scorpio. my pluto in virgo and my mars in aries. frankly, i dont like too much virgo as partners, but i like organized minds, but too critical not my cup of tea.
if i use mars which is in cancer, that tells another story. i like to feel protected. my mars reflects a lot that search.

but my venus in cancer reinforce that. in my case it is difficult to tell as sign of the ruler of the seventh is in the same sign as venus and happens to be mars (considering mars the ruler of scorpio) with virgo it doesnt work.

However, if i think about pluto in my 5th house, then, another story...because i need that intensity as well. i believe that applying the ruler of 7th in the house can make sense.

then, looking at the ruler of 5 (mercury) in gemini. i like people who walk fast and looks smart, witty and curious.

I'm not sure about the technical details, though can see no need for houses either. Just go 1st sign etc.
