So, I've been reviewing my transits over the next several months trying to figure out future opportunites, etc. I've noticed that transiting Jupiter will be retrograding back toward my Natal North Node until 12/27/11 at which point it turns stationary direct in conjunction with my Natal North Node at a 0 degree orb. I've looked around online but haven't had much luck deriving the meaning of a stationary planet. Most of what I've seen simply says a stationary planet's influence is increased. Has anyone else undergone stationary transits that make tight contacts to your natal chart and what were the affects?

“When a planet is stationary about to retrograde, it indicates no fulfillment of the desired matter, and difficulty and loss.” Also, “A planet about to turn retrograde is like a frightened person, fearing adversaries that are coming to him.” And John Frawley in The Horary Textbook points out that “first station is likened to a man feeling so ill he decides to take to his sickbed: he feels bad, and is going to get worse.”

These observations make sense when you think of what the planet appears to be doing. Whatever awaits the planet, at a later degree of the zodiac, will not be reached: the promised contact or aspect – or even change of sign – will not be perfected. So there is no fulfillment of what is anticipated. The stationing planet appears to us to be changing its mind, backing away from whatever’s down the path. No wonder Ibn Ezra and others describe it as “frightened” out of its intended route.

i found this online i hope it can help you figure out what a stationary planet signifies.

curby lol nickname i have mercury in taurus stationary direct which means that the retrograde period has ended but its still not in a moving posititon its scared still.
now this is probably one of the most important planets in my chart personally because its the only one that is standing still.

see when a planet doesnt move its somewhat lost. so it has no idea how to move forward its like me in life sometimes when i get in a rut i dont know how to move forward when im facing a problem i dont know how to deal with.

it could be that jupiter planet of expansion and luck could be afraid to move forward meaning that your luck is almost scared to move forward because its not fully able to move forward.

why are you looking forward to that?

How you interpret this placement depends upon whether the object in question is stationary retrograde or stationary direct. A stationary retrograde planet is digging it's heels in and refusing to make any further progress until what's already been done has been reviewed and revisited. A stationary direct planet refuses to take any further steps back and is commited to moving forward on it's path, but needs to be still and gather energy and momentum before it can do that. As such from my understanding the native with a stationary retrograde placement may sometimes feel that they are constantly reviewing the same old material, or perhaps they feel as though they wish to continue to live in the past, while the stationary direct individual will feel as though they are being held back by circumstances which do not seem to change. It's not a matter of reliving with stationary direct, it's more a matter of being stuck in a rut and seemingly never changing. Also, the stationary direct individual can be quite committed to whatever the placement is representing. Taking your Pluto for example, a stationary retrograde in this instance could indicate the neccessity to review and relearn past life/karmic lessons in order to be able to evolve in this lifetime, whereas a stationary direct placement could indicate that these lessons are already well ingrained and it's just a matter of choice (and progressed movement of the planet to direct) as to when you put these lessons to use in your personal transformation and evolution. The degree placement of a stationary planet, retrograde or direct, is very important, as well as the aspects this planet makes to others in your chart. So, if I were you, I'd look up the meanings of both the decanate and duad of the degree placement of your Pluto for insight in regards to what it is exactly that your Pluto is trying to accomplish, because with a planet just sitting still on a degree like that, it's almost like the planet is trying to draw your attention to the significance of that particular area of your chart. It's sitting there waiting for you to notice it, and it's not going anywhere until you do.

another great description of stationary direct and stationary retrograde for those intrested

A planet is said to "make a station" when it seems to stop moving. A planet has a greater influence in the birth chart when it is stationary because its energy is concentrated and focused at the degree of the Zodiac it occupies.

There are two types of stationary planets. The first one occurs when a planet that has been direct is about to turn retrograde. Movement in the affairs of life ruled by this planet slows down in preparation for an introspective phase of experience.

The second one occurs when a planet that has been retrograde is about to go direct. The person, who has been in an introspective phase regarding the affairs ruled by this planet, is preparing to move out into new experience. A stationary planet focuses its energy in one spot and in one way, and therefore, produces a deep impression on the person.

yet another good interpretation for you.
