The SN gets a bad rap by Astrologers who believe in reincarnation, in my humble opinion. They seem to dispense with the SN as some kind of force which seeks to hold one back, or imprison one, in the past. I beg to differ. One needs to embrace that with which one is comfortable. One needs the old with which to reach for the new, the North Node. One must use all one’s talents and areas of ease, as one strives to reach goals, which are slightly out of one’s reach. The NN is, usually, more than slightly out of one’s reach, as it is aspirational. It is like a 2 karat canary diamond. I had a friend who had one. It was so big as to appear fake. My thought was about how the diamond was aspirational for all diamond lovers, but few would attain it. The NN is a beacon, calling one forward. The NN will, always, call one forward. The NN is present in our fears. The sign and house of the NN will be that to which we aspire. The sign and house on the SN is that to which we have attained: that which we use with ease. I wanted to write this, as I feel Astrologers who dismiss the SN as antiquated, are missing a gem in the person’s natal chart. This is my opinion of the situation, anyway.------------------

You will know the feeling, if you pay attention, as it is very specific. The relationship may be platonic or romantic. Either way, you feel the sense of family with the person. It is very beautiful in this current climate of isolation. It is the proverbial warm fuzzy. ------------------

The South Node— Your Comfort Zone

You take off your restrictive clothes and put on comfy clothes. You sigh with the sheer comfort of being home. You can do the things of the SN, easily. You like the energy of the sign. You like the house. You are home, after all. Of course, the story does not stop there, as all things in Astrology have the yin and the yang. On the other end, opposite to the SN, is the NN. It is here that we tremble. We do not, willingly, enter the realm of the NN. Who wants to enter the lions den when one can sit on the outside, safe? The NN is not a lions den, in reality, but it feels like one. By sign and house, we do not know how to deal with the NN energy. These factors can be mitigated, in individual charts as some people have the NN in the same sign as the Sun. This is atypical, though. For most of us, our NN is aspirational, like a fine diamond. Do you want it enough to work for it?That is the question ------------------

Great post!I do believe in reincarnation but still feel the same way as you do about the SN. Those are our gifts, with which we enter the world. I have SN in Taurus ( In the 12th house) conjunct my Moon exactly. My ability to use that energy has helped me enormously in my life. I think the key is to find the balance between the nodes. Strive for your NN but use your SN to help you achieve those goals. And when the path of the NN becomes a bit too overwhelming, you have a safe place to rest and recuperate in your SN  IP: Logged |

Well, sometimes I guess that it is contrary... I've met a person, whose Sun is in exact conjunction to my NN. It's female, though.. I fell so great in her company, I'm playful again, like a child, I cannot stop talking... with SN persons i don't need words, we understand each other differently. I can't open to them, they think i'm introverted, but with NN I'm not.. weird, should be otherwise, not? Yesterday i heard from my new friend that i talk a lot lot lot, i guess, that isn't the thing my existing friends would say of me.. IP: Logged |

YES--the house is a place where you are comfortable, in the same way the sign is. Study the house and see what that house rules. You have mastered that.
