Uranus (and Aquarius) rules Astrology. As well as quest to observe and understand humanity in general. From the Aquarian/Uranus point of view, people, and the various social situations they get themselves into, are science projects!….Uranus/Aquarius types are fascinated by the different kinds of variety found in humanity, and the reasons for that variety. This is why I think they say Aquarius rules astrology, which is basically a categorization of humanity… And yet also an explanation as to why no two humans are exactly alike, even though we are all subject to the same methods of categorization… Our birth charts are like snow flakes, there may be some similarities with other snow flakes, but no two are ever exactly the same. For example, an Aquarius/Uranus type may wonder why their cousin Fred is a Taurus and yet such a blabber mouth. While their friend Terry is also a Taurus, but only speaks in mono-syllables! Then they check both of their birth charts, and discover that while Fred has a chatty hyper Gemini Mercury, Terry has both Mercury and the Sun in the more quiet steady sign of Taurus, explaining the difference between their communication styles even though they both have Taurus Suns. Aquarius/Uranus types like to understand why people are the way they are just for the heck of it. So yeah, an interest in astrology for it’s own sake, simply for the joy of understanding and using it is definitely an Aquarius, Uranus, 11th house thing. But you don’t need to have any major Aquarian placements to have an interest in astrology (Although this certainly helps too). I think it has a lot to do with the intellectually oriented placements in our chart. Mercury, the third house, and it’s ruler. Jupiter, the 9th house, and it’s ruler. And what Uranus, and the sign Aquarius, and to some extent the 11th house, are doing in the chart. Everyone has Uranus, Aquarius, and the 11th house somewhere in their chart, and where they lie may hint at where and how astrology may be of interest to them. Of course, this influence will be more dominating on some than it is on others. For strong interest in astrology… Simply having an Aquarius, Uranus, or 11th house influence on the intellectual parts of your chart is more than enough. For instance, Mercury, or Jupiter in Aquarius, the 11th house, or aspecting Uranus. Uranus itself in the Aquarius or the 11th house. And even the Aquarius/Leo axis on the Asc/Dsc, Mc/Ic, 3rd/9th houses, and the 11th/5th houses. Same thing with Uranus aspecting these, or in the 3rd/9th houses, the 11th house, the 10th house, the 1st house, or the 7th house. Or the rulers of these in the 11th house. Having any of the outer planets and the signs they rule strong in ones natal, could potentially indicate an interest in astrology also. Uranus may be the ruler of astrology itself, pure and unadulterated, but we all have our reasons for why we are interested in astrology, and for many it’s a means to an end. The other outer planets, and the signs they rule, Neptune, Pluto, Jupiter… And even sometimes Saturn… Can point towards one being interested in astrology as a means to an end, in the sense that it helps them understand, and gives guidance with regard to the subject matter that they have an interest in… Neptune (and Pisces) rules our glamorous ideals of what should be (fantasies), how we escape dreary reality and express our dreams and fantasies (films, novels, music, illusion), the flow of psychic energy itself (vibes, atmosphere, energy healings, metaphysics), other states of consciousness (dreaming, meditating), mysticism and ‘white light’ type paranormal stuff (magic, angels, spirit guides), and being able to tune into the general ‘feeling’ and ‘direction’ of things, people and places as a whole… in terms of an interest in astrology, Neptune shows a desire to understand the general ‘trend’ behind things, and possibly also satisfies Neptune’s faith that there is a reason and rhyme to everything… Neptune is all about the flow of psychic energy, which in turn leads to the flow of events and situations, and our intuitive ability to tap into this…. like if a Neptune/Pisces person has a ‘bad’ gut feeling about Tuesday, they can look up the Ephemeris and see that transiting Mars is exact square their Pluto on that day, and so they know that their intuition was right, and that Tuesday is a day that they need to be cautious of any kind of risky activity. Pluto (and Scorpio) rules psychology (motivations), and some of the darker paranormal stuff ….like ghosts, the occult, black magic, demonic spirits and creatures (fictional or not), and peoples dark side (temptation, resentment, jealously, rage), as well as the cycles of life and death, and the changes we must all go through in our journey on this planet. Scorpio/Pluto rules fate, unavoidable changes, and endings. Scorpio/Pluto types have a strong focus on what the true motivations of people are in interpersonal relationships, the issues that come to the fore when two people merge there energy and resources (or choose not to), and the power balance that occurs in relationships as a result. This is usually with respect to marriage, or romantic relationships. However there is also an interest in understanding the inner motivations behind any kind of relationship… family, friends, co-workers. Scorpio/Pluto types often have a vested interest in how these types of things will play out, and of course astrology provides excellent guidance as to what to expect with each and every relationship in our lives. When Scorpio/Pluto types take an interest in astrology it is usually because they desire to understand the inner motivations of others and what to anticipate when interacting with them. Including when to protect themselves, when to open up, and when to let go… Pluto/Scorpio types also have an interest in the cycles of time and the effect these will have on their lives… astrology again can give tremendous insight into these things… for instance, a couple has a Venus/Mars trine and transiting Pluto comes a long and squares one partners Mars and quincunxes the other one’s Venus…the result may be that while relationship has been mostly peaceful, for a short period of time Mars may struggle with jealousy, and Venus may feel very uncomfortable with this… however they can both rest assured that this trend is temporary and things should return to normal once Pluto finishes it’s transit. This is the type of scenario that Scorpio/Pluto types really values information on. Jupiter (and Sagittarius) rules the search for the true meaning, the pattern behind everything, and the organization to the universe. Jupiter/Sagittarius types may became interested in astrology because it provides a context with which to understand why things are the way they are, and how the reality that we live in functions. These types need a framework to reference for life’s journey and astrology helps provide guidance… Saturn rules how we are able to utilize the resources around us in order to achieve our ambitions and insure our security. If a strong Saturn/Capricorn type can get over the stigma that astrology has for being a ‘superstition‘, then they may more then likely be interested in using it for such things as planning ahead, choosing when to act, and choosing who to connect with, while in the process of pursuing their goals. Mercury dominated charts may also show an interest in astrology purely for the sake of mental stimulation, but this interest will be shallow unless backed up by other chart placements the deepen that interest. And another thing… in terms of being interested in astrology for it’s own sake and not as merely a means to an end… (I’ve touched on this above but here I’ll elaborate) The axis of Leo/Aquarius has a strong tie to astrology… Leo rules the drama and experience of life, and how we act in the throws of passionate emotion… Aquarius rules the study and observation of these life dramas, and ascertaining the reasons behind them… Which is where astrology comes in. If you have the Leo/Aquarius axis falling on the 3rd house/9th house axis (the intellectual axis) this could point to a strong interest in astrology. The same goes for having it on the Asc/Dsc or even the Mc/Ic axis (the themes of drama and observation will be a dominating influence in your life), and also the 5th/11th house axis (which again promotes an interest in people and the reason behind their dramas). Also, strong Uranus and Aquarius placements in the chart really promote a strong interest in ‘people watching’ and also ‘people understanding’, which could very likely lead to an interest in astrology (Leo by itself is more interested the ups and downs of experiencing life rather than understanding the theoretical reasons behind it). Using myself as an example… I have Sagittarius rising (it fits my general outlook to see the patterns in things) with the sign Aquarius on the 3rd house cusp (I pretty much think about astrology all day every day), ruled by Uranus in Scorpio (love to understand peoples motivations, and my Moon in 8th house enhances this) falling at the end of the 11th house, and conjunct the 12th house cusp. I have been totally obsessed with astrology from about the age of 13, and although I love all aspects of it, the astrology of love and relationships is my favorite topic. My Asc ruler Jupiter falls in early Cancer in the 7th house (strong interest in relationship issues), and Mercury is in Sagittarius at the end of the 12th house and conjunct my Asc (interested in metaphysics, and er… myself). My 9th house cusp is Leo ruled by Sun in Capricorn falling in the 1st house… (have often used astrology to understand the reason for my own tendencies).

Uranus rules Modern Astrology, Saturn rules traditional astrology -- as modern astrology is more unconvential and it breaks away from the norm and its wild/strange, traditional astrology was more rigid and structuredno mention of Cancer? I'm the only one who is crazy about astrology here.. and good at it (wherE I live anyway) Perhaps it Be my Uranus in 1st?? IP: Logged |

@ Lotus White: that was so interesting! My natal uranus in Scorpio is heavily aspected along with my natal neptune in Sagittarius. My moon and venus are ruled by mercury in the 12th and my sun is in the 11th. Piscies rules my 9th. I have always been Intrigued with astrology but didn't start to study it heavily until the last year...ironically the asteroid Astrowizard is conjunct my NN exact!
