An old crush is what actually made me stumble in astrology. What started off as Sun sign compatibility lead to relationship compatibility reports and then next thing you know I end up discovering that there is a whole nother side of astrology that involves the Moon/Mercury/Venus/Mars etc.Typical Libra Venus Idk, I'm still pretty inexperienced if I say so myself lol. I just like to read and absorb a bunch of information by searching threads I find interesting and using Google. I'd say just start where you're most interested, oh and definitely your natal chart too. Also studying the charts of family and close friends too IP: Logged |

Ohhhh, Mine was a Scorpio Venus . Even with my Scorpio Mars, I don't think they like me back though lol. Hmmm, haven't encountered a Leo Venus irl only Mars. Would be nice to though because it would conjunct my moon and I love Venus/Moon contacts (but it would also square my Mars). IP: Logged |

I started liking this guy and I had a gut feeling what his sun sign was. At the time, I only knew about sun sign compatibility, so I didn't really know that much stuff. But I wanted to confirm my hunches, and it turns out, I was right. He was an Aries. Then I dug deeper into sun sign compatibility. Soon after, I was familiar with the elements, the modes, and rulerships. I didn't know what houses were. Then I found this site, Tarot.com, and I had to sign up. It gave me my moon sign and rising sign, which I was so confused about because I thought I was a Leo. Then I started looking into it and realized there's different signs. I got into astrology books soon after and studied other kinds of astrology other than natal. I learned to read synastry, composite, solar returns, progressed charts, transits, and recently horary. This all happened in a year. I also just joined this site in January, which totally helped me broaden my knowledge.IP: Logged |

I was trying to figure a Libra Sun/Gemini Moon out. Intellectually brilliant guy but very blase' and very confused about everything incl his own sexuality. He was also really flakey. So I read all I could about Libras at first. Ironically more and more of these zodiac signs came into my life after that so all I had to do was study them. Then I started reading about everything else concerning astrology and now I study something everyday I would say it's the only thing that can keep me engrossed for hours and hours and hours.p.s. I can safely say I will be hardpressed to date another Libra or a Gemini Moon. Not just because of him but traits of those two placements have repeated themselves too many times for me to ignore them. IP: Logged |

Been into it since I was 13, and that was a long time ago, so years. I can't remember the book but it had a Mandala on it or something. Astrology was a natural progression for me as well as paranormal, myths, Jung, symbols, supernatural, herbs and natural medicine. I love all these topics, I'm glad I had parents that didn't care if I read about these topics, some parents would think you're a weirdo or need counseling. I gave it a break in college, then after I graduated picked it up and learned it more extensively, starting with Liz Greene, she is my fav. she doesn't mince words. Now I'm learning about numerology which is another area that is very accurate that you can tie into your astrology chart. Future areas I want to learn about is evolution/karmic astrology. Well, I advise to get the basics first, a cookbook of astrology or just use the internet from a reliable source, once you got that just branch out and see what you like most. There is no set pace etc. go with what moves you and you're interested in... When you are broke, the internet is your friend. I just recently started buying my own astrology books, I use to read them in the bookstore or library, writing passages down, photocopying. But there is other great astrologers besides Liz Greene, read the ones that resonate with you. I originally delved into Astrology simply because I wanted to learn about myself in ways that I knew others couldn't help me. I've always held an Interest in the occult/metaphysics and always considered myself to be a spiritual person, and I used to dream about becoming a paranormal investigator. I was for some reason fascinated by the unknown, and for quite a while, specifically paranormal/spirits. That interest has died out a lot, but more-so in the sense of it being a career. But I think I have had more than my fair share of ups and downs and being alone a lot during my adolescence that my emotional upsets/depression/anxiety pretty much ended up opening a whole new way of coping through the practice and tool of Astrology. I was going through a lot of bad anxiety and an upsetting home life situation last year that I just knew deep down that there had to possibly be another completely unique reason as to why I deal with the things I do, why I constantly feel the way I do, etc. that I became compelled to find a new way of coping, so I allowed myself to delve inward and explore a whole new path of spirituality, thus, I began to self-teach myself the art of Astrology. I couldn't be happier with that choice and all the much-needed 'revelations' it has brought me in such times of crisis. I only ever knew my sun sign, and shortly after realizing I identified more with the Leo/Virgo cusp, and from then on. It all feels like a total spiritual transformation. So to make a long story short (lol), I got into Astrology to 'find' myself and to almost prove to others that what I experience and the way I am is not because I am just totally mentally screwed up, haha. (That's partly a joke....; ))It has been 100% worth it to me. ------------------ Leo sun Cancer ascendant Gemini moon IP: Logged |

I was really curious about a connection I felt to someone, and astrology made things so much more clearer, it blew my mind! Thats why synastry is my favorite branch of astrology IP: Logged |

I was kind of addicted to reading horoscopes when I was younger.. I had a lot of anxiety & that kinda helped me put me at ease.. but after a little while I was like.. well this is bs.. every horoscope tells something different and they rarely come true.. so then my Mercury in the 8th went on to investigate and I found the Moon Signs and it turned out we had this book at home about Moon signs so I read that in a day & then I found the Ascendant and then I found the Natal Chart and so a whole new world opened up to me.. Usually I get interested in things and then a week later I'm bored and move onto something else but with Astrology you learn something new everyday and that is what makes it so much fun! IP: Logged |

I have to admit, I still frequently question astrological norms and astrology in general. I got into it after seeing a pattern of Scorpio people in my life. For anybody who doesn't believe in astrology, Scorpio is often the exception and can make a skeptic start to reconsider that something else may be going on here. They're the only zodiac sign in my opinion that lives up to the descriptions you read about them. Even when it comes to appearance. It's very very odd for a skeptic to see this. It's kind of maddening, because you can't really figure out how this can be so. A group of humans all similar in appearance (eyes) and usually actions. It's really quite something. So that really fueled my entire astrological faith, if Scorpios didn't exist I wouldn't believe anything is going on with astrology. They validate it by simply existing.

I read mostly natal astrology books and one book about love relating to the NN and SN. The more books I read, the more I gained an understanding of astrology. I don't think I've read enough books, though, considering most of them were basic astrology. But I'm that kind of person who just learns the basics and then applies it to higher levels of thinking. So I really found it easy to interpret other charts as soon as I mastered natals. I got into transits because I got curious of the transit selection at astro.com. Then it all went from there. Most of the things I know come from internet research and this site. Honestly, LL has been very helpful for my study of astrology. I would recommend The Secret Language of Astrology by Roy Gillet, Learning Astrology by Damian Sharp (although it's very basic), and Cosmic Love by Jan Spiller. I can't really recommend anything books about transits since I haven't really read one. But skyscript is a very good place to start. Cafeastrology is good, too. I also read some of LL's member's blogs. They really help.

At the risk of sounding self centered I just wanted to know about myself. Anything mystical that relates to how people are (numerology for ie) fascinates me. When people ask "why do I do the things I do?!" I smile at them. Probably my 8th house moon and Virgo rising attributing to this IP: Logged |

Same as fairaqua! I used to collect those Dadhichi year books for my sun sign, and in there it introduced me to my sun sign and rising (which is actually different compared to astro.com and other websites, but idk). IP: Logged |

I stumbled across an astrology book in my brother's library. It had a descriptive info about stars constellation ... being the astronomy fanatic I was, I ended up reading the whole book. It was so interesting to find a different side that's related to astronomy in a mythological way. IP: Logged |

I always was interested in astrology, but never really went in-depth to study natal charts, transits, etc. I started to get seriously interested in it when my Pluto conjunct Saturn transit started. Wanted to learn more about who I really am and being more open to different ideas, scenarios, etc. IP: Logged |

There's so much to learn it can be quite overwhelming at first. I'm a little impressed S_L_Q learned so much in just a year. There are some astrology books you can preview on google books. I considered buying books as well, but I'm skeptical of the quality of information. Not all astrologers are equal! Lots of astrologers have websites and blogs where you can gauge their level of competence and experience. I wouldn't buy anything that covers just the basics, or what people consider "cookbook" when you can get that info online for free! The internet has been my most valued resource. In astrology forums, people offer their firsthand experiences, and you can interact with lots of knowledgeable astrologers. IP: Logged |

I've always found astrology to be interesting but I didn't know much about it beyond Sun signs until a few years ago when my ex ordered a chart reading. The information in it was so accurate that it sparked my interest. After we broke up I was in the mood to do some soul-searching and astrology seemed like the perfect tool. I got way more obsessed than I ever expected to though! quote: Originally posted by Venusincap89: Ohhhhhhhhhh what kind of books did you read?? Do yourecommend any?? I just started reading Planets in Transit by Robert Hand and it's very helpful. You might want to check it out. IP: Logged |
