what are your opinions on the best house systems, or do you use a number of them for different things.I tend to use placidus. because it gives me the impression you can delve deeper. You can see if there are intercepted and duplicated houses and each house has its own ruler. but some people prefer whole or equal house systems. Why? Is there a benefit to using them? I noticed these charts and Merdian change things up quite a lot for me. for example in Placidus my descendant is taurus but in Median its gemini ~ I frequently meet gemini's but never any taurus suns. so why exactly do we have so many house systems? what is your deciding factor in using one over the other. You are right about the Placidus system. I only ever use Placidus. I have to use what stands up to the in-depth scrutiny of rectification work and chart validation. Topcentric and Koch are the only other systems that comes close.Equal is not a house system, but an avoidance of the earth-based geometry that underlies house systems. In other words, quick-n-easy. Same for whole signs. We have so many house systems because so many mathematically inclined persons have lent their abilities to the concept(s), attempting to find a system that could be contrasted and compared with previous ones. We also have them because some astrologers may have noticed discrepancies or inaccuracies with a system used in persons who they know well and not being satisfied with the current choices decided to come up with a new one. We also have at least two groups of house systems because of two different ways of dividing up the sky: space-based and time-based. Ultimately space and time as separate things is an illusion, but the time-based systems mentioned above are more accurate. ------------------ Soul Stars Astrology - by the declinations guy Clickable Rising Signs> ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓ IP: Logged |

placidus is a very accurate system in terms of predictionsa friend of mine flew very far away the day transit jupiter passed her 9th cusp exactly the degree of her 9th cusp in placidus though, and not any other system (they all differed a bit) although I find vedic system very accurate as well for some mysterious reaosn IP: Logged |
