Hello everybody,

Over the last couple of months i've been (once again) researching the so-called Golden Aspects, introduced by the German astrologer Theodor Landscheidt in the 1970's. I think i may have found a simple technique for using these aspects in birth charts, as a complement to the 'usual aspects'.

If the Golden Ratio appeals to you, please check it out and let me know what you think of this approach. It's kind of a long read, but i hope you find it interesting.

Here's the full article, as published yesterday on my blog

Φ in the sky: how to interpret Golden Aspects http://www.dubbhism.org/2017/12/in-sky-how-to-interpret-golden-aspects.html

Greetings
Tony

This is a very interesting and in-depth read, indeed. Though, in my personal view, I don't much about being "simplified"...I think I must reread this again a few times and do more research on these Golden Aspects. They sound very interesting but are also very new to me; hopefully I will be able to understand this better and soon. You seem to be a very good writer. Thanks for the post!

Well i understand what you mean if you say that this isn't simple, for one thing, it's quite different. On the other hand, i also showed the 'phi-angle distributions' to people who don't know how to read regular charts, and to them it appeared to make some sense. So i guess, as always, it depends who you ask.

Thank you for the writing compliment also. I edit texts as part of my job, so i can practice writing all day. But since i'm not a native speaker, i sometimes make very strange mistakes :-) I'm from the Netherlands, located in the city of Leiden.

Greetings
Anton

Hi Tony... Welcome to LL.

Nice job on your website; and I listened to a few of your soundcloud creations. (Quite a difference between the music you presented on soundcloud, and your varied choices of music to aurically illustrate your theory...

Like I think you're saying... you're still 'playing' with your theories.

I think (for me) it's too loose of an association yet?

You might want to read some of the Seth Materials (Eternal Validity of The Soul) where he talks about Lemuria.

{I have a problem with some of what Seth says at the end of that book-- that Jesus 'faked' his resurrection. -- But I liked some of his other theories.)

AS far as creating music is concerned...
(my taste here)..

I have an expectation that music is nutrition, and should somehow Lift the soul in some way, aesthetically. Or, draw profound contrasts using sounds. But never to seize-up the soul with fear and feelings of danger.

And, going back to math quotients--
That the 'math' needs to be accompanied with a musical expression that is Inspired and not just cold figures?

I come from a musical background. I have known composers who published (for example) some of the pieces for gamelon music (clay jars). I was excited about his innovations, and, not all of them were inspiring or describing anything with well-placed Imagination.

To me, just because it puts math ratios together, or, a person is creating an amass of chaotic sounds, for the purpose of saying that they were being 'innovative'... has missed the mark of truly touching and uplifting the human experience-- tapping a Creative vein, finding an Inspired muse.

The graphic with planets and the arcing sound-geometry (like ripples from a stone), was interesting. The video on viewing the Sun's barycenter-- looking flat on it, or upper dimensional view-- had an interesting look. Reminded me of extremely-tight retrograde motions... He had a theory of the tugging and reciprocating pulling, and the 'filling in' balance provided by the Sun's shifting itself? (Hope I got that right?) ....

Anyway... It will be interesting to see what else can be developed with that. I know that kind of field can be WIDE open, and it's hard to tack down specific-ACTUAL explanations for why it works or doesn't.

This had me also thinking about how Guido of Arezzo started the Hand-Chart, and Solfeggio.

So! I am wishing you Good Days ahead!
Good luck on your project.

And, Merry Christmas
Happy {all} Holidays,
and A Joyous New Year.

Hey mirage29,

Yeah, there' s a lot of music on my blog since i run a small music label. I only got into astrology about three years ago, before that it was mostly music for me. And it can take many forms. There are solo projects, but also co-operations with many musicians in many styles from radio-friendly reggae to gritty electronic music made with a modular synthesizer. I started out long ago as a bass player, was a session leader in a club for many years, and gradually got more serious about dub music and electronic music... also done a lot of DJing and parties and so on. To be sure, there is some nasty music on my label, as well as quite harmonious stuff, and even harmonic experiments (like those gamelan-ish harmonies) The artwork is a kind of indicator, hopefully. In fact, this Christmas morning i really enjoyed Messiaen's La Nativeté du Seigneur, which is quite unusual sounding church music with weird harmoniuc effects, almost like Krautrock.

I think the relation between math and music is extremely complicated. I try to avoid thinking about any music theory while making music, but i do enjoy thinking about the (philosophical) relations between things at other times. To me Richard Merricks work, especially INTERFERENCE is definitely a favorite at the moment. He has a unique way of weaving many strands together, both musically in a practical sense and philosophically.

The video with the barycentric motion of the sun is to clarify how the movement of the sun is influenced (just a little bit) by the pull of the planets. If the planets pull the sun in one direction, for example because jupiter and saturn are conjunct, the sun goes a little bit in the opposite direction to compensate, and this creates these wiggly patterns, that are actually having an effect on the activity cycles of the sun. Landscheidt was (one of) the first scientists to really make these connections i think.

I also saw the discussion about Joe Strummer, and thought i'd do a quick analysis with Golden Aspects http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/238853.html

His overall temperament is very average, no surprises. Geocentric view suggests that Uranus is most strong, in Helio view Pluto is dominant

More phun with phi angles: how to find someone's Muse

- create a set of objects containing at least the 9 muse-asteroids:

Calliope - epic poetry
Clio - history
Euterpe - music, song, lyric Poetry
Erato - love poetry, erotic poetry
Melpomene - tragedy
Polyhymnia - religious hymns, natural mystic, meditation
Terpsichore - dance and choral song
Thalia - comedy
Urania - astrology

- optionally throw in asteroid Apollo (leader of the Muses) or other asteroids that interest you. For example, i also added the 'tenth muse' Sappho, the siren-asteroids Parthenope and Lorely, and Echo, Orpheus (the son of Calliope) and Harmony, as i'm especially interested in charts of musicians.

- count the number of phi-angles per asteroid both geocentrically and heliocentrically and find out which asteroids have the highest score. This should normally indicate the 'dominant muses'

- also consider conjunctions of muses with personal planets, within 2 degrees

Here are some typical musician examples from my own research (using all of the asteroids mentioned above)

Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison (27 club) all three have very high scores for geocentric Melpomene (singing the blues)

George Harrison has a strong heliocentric Thalia and Polyhymnia (combining humor and spirituality) while geocentricentrically, his Melpomene (blues, sad songs) and Echo (standing in the shadow of Lennon and McCartney) are strong.

George Clinton has geocentric high scores for love poetry and dance and a strong Loreley as well (great voice)

George Michael has very strong heliocentric 'sirens'

And so on and so forth, but it's much more fun to look at the whole distribution, in the context of the personal planets

Some counterintuitive findings:
- Bono has a high geocentric score for Thalia
- Brian Wilson has a low geocentric score for Harmony
- Famous Electronic Dance Music producers don't typically have a strong Terpsichore

Hey Kannon,

As far as i know it is only available in German. I happen to know the German language good enough to read the original, so that's just luck.

But if you read the other stuff by Landscheidt that's available online in English, i'd say you've got about 90% of what's covered in the book.
