Here's a question. Gemini and Virgo are both ruled by mercury. So you'd think that they share some similarities - certainly enough to have more compatibility than it seems.

Looking at other signs with shared rulers - Aries and Scorpio (traditional) share mars, and they're inconjunct. Taurus and Libra share venus, and are also inconjunct. Sagittarius and Pisces (traditional) share jupiter.

So really it's only gemini and virgo who are the only full-time modern shared rulers to be squared each other.

What is it about these signs that makes them square off against each other? Is it to do with the way the energies express, perhaps?

Ie Gemini is third house and is about spoken communication, is it that virgo is the selfless arm of analysis and thought and service to others - does virgo 'judge' geminis or think it superior perhaps?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how these co-ruled planets play out against and with each other.

I want to think that Virgo might feel that Gemini is unstable, selfish, childish and superficial whereas Virgo is detail oriented, very analytical and aim to please others. I think this could be a good work combination where the boss is a Gemini and Virgo is needed to maintain sanity in office but this is just my take on things!

Off the top of my head, could they
be competitive with one another?
As in who's better at *insert area*?

Good question.

Their aim is different. Virgo I think needs to do something with the information and knowledge it acquires. After all it is an earth sign.

Gemini on the other hand, can just acquire information for the sake of acquiring information. For the fun of it.

I always felt that Gemini is like the child version of Mercury and Virgo is the adult version of Mercury.

like the person above me said, Gemini tends to communicate and acquire knowledge in a very spontaneous and almost accidental manner, not really meaning to but also just doing it because it is fun and keeps them from getting bored. Virgos communicate and accumulate knowledge as way to expand their horizons so they can ask and answer deeper questions in their life.

I believe Sagittarius and Pisces square each other.

But I agree, it is strange.

Every planet rules two signs, one is masculine and the other is feminine.

Masculine = Fire and Air
Feminine = Water and Earth

Masculine signs make hard aspects with Feminine signs, and with its own, it makes easy aspects, and vice versa. Except for the opposition.

Easy aspects = Trine and sextile
Hard aspects = Square, Quincunx, Opposite

So of course every two signs ruled by the same planet would make hard aspects with one another.

The sun and moon are luminaries and not planets, that's why they rule on sign each. The sun is the divine masculine and moon divine feminine that's why sun cannot rule a feminine sign and moon doesn't rule a masculine sign. They rule one sign each.

The other planets don't have genders, so they express themselves into two ways, one feminine and one masculine.

There both simmilar..but with a diffrent "flavour".

For example my Virgo classmate is studies the same courses as me and has mostly the same intrestes.

I'm more loose and sloppy to silly error with math mistakes, say forget to distribute the negative or simplfy things too soon.

He's more structured and doesn't make those mistakes.

But..when it comes to social things he's more judgmental to people where I'm more forgiving.

Or..

I worked with a Virgo, we were both tech support, I'd be more intrested in at least responding to everyones call then find a workable solution.

He whould rather find a solution first then go to the call.

Both methods have there merits.

As the natural oppositions to Gemini and Virgo - absolutely they're square. I guess for me, I discounted this two as they're not purely jupiter-ruled, given that Pisces has a modern ruler of Neptune. But yep, that they both had Jupiter for a while, is interesting. Maybe we're just waiting for a new sign ruler to emerge?

This is such a good example, thanks!

Similar in our office. The Gemini just wants to get on with it, the Virgo wants a process. Same Gemini in a different scenario talks through her ideas. Our colleague with a lot of Virgo listens then shares the idea he had already pre-perfected.

Yes! Virgo wants to tell Gemini to calm down, shush a minute and be quiet so he can think 😁

I feel like I'm too intelligent for this thread.

Is a sign of intelligence to explore differences and similarities between things, that is part of the process of thinking critically. If you feel you are too intelligent for this thread I dont understand why you would invest any of your time on it. You are not required to participate in any thread especially if you feel is beneath you.

I'm curious on how my Capricorn cousins son will turn out.

Virgo child raised by Gemini parent (Mother)

I knew he his first child would be a Virgo.

Earth Sign Father + Air Sign Mother = Virgo Child.

Its not a complete "Math Proof", but I think logic make sense.

There is compatibility between them ime.

Both are strongly mentally oriented. So they often joke around with each other a lot & connect intellectually.

Gemini is the gatherer of information. Virgo organizes it. Gemini is the journalist and Virgo the critic.

I find Virgo more focused on the method of information delivery. Occupied with the authenticity, accuracy and consistency.

Gemini likes the "poetry" of it. The use of words in the sentence, the play on them and how uniquely they are strung together.
