I love this article so wanted to share it! Enjoy!

Venus represents our relating style, what we like, what pleases us. It's associated with love, but love is in reality a bit more complex than just Venus. Venus represents our attractions indeed and therefore is one of the first planets to look at when you're asking questions regarding love.

The 8th House is very misunderstood, as it represents "death" and therefore any planet in the 8th House can represent a lot of anxiety for its holder.

Anxiety is part of the 8th House, but death needs to be understood differently than just literally. Look back at who you were, let's say, 2 years ago. Do you feel like you're the same person? Chances are you "died" many times since then, and especially if you have several planets in the 8th House.

It's also sometimes called the house of "transformations" and "regeneration", and it makes more sense if you associate it with its natural ruler, Pluto. The 8th House talks about under going several crises, often psychological but also sometimes real, and letting something inside us die or letting something external die (a relationship, a job, a friendship, losing something material) in order to make space for something new and more aligned with our true needs.

Ok so, what happens when Venus is in the 8th House?

The person will not settle for a mediocre, tamed, half-hearted relationship. They love with passion, they dislike with passion, and they can provoke this kind of reactions in people too. Someone with Venus here doesn't necessarily care for being popular with most, however they do want a relationship that is committed, loyal, and merging, with no exception or loophole.

They tend to be overly dramatic, anxious, and quite frankly difficult to deal with in a relationship. They tend to provoke crises in their relationships because the process of dying and transforming is deeply ingrained in them. They tend to take relationships to a point of non-return just to see if it survives or breaks. This process isn't necessarily conscious, but as a Scorpio placement, they need to test, they need to see if the person, the relationship, is worth opening up, sharing, committing, if it's worth suffering for it.

A bit like a Venus in Scorpio, there is a craving for a deep love, a soul bond that not everyone is able to give. They crave intimacy and there is always some anxiety around love affairs: Do they love me enough, can I trust them with my love, and are they worthy of it? The sign in which Venus is placed will give more indication about this anxiety. A Venus in Virgo in 8th would be highly anxious and analytic and would turn their love life into an endless list of questions. A Venus in Pisces in 8th would be way more fluid, spiritual and artistic. A Venus in Aries would still be quick to love and fall out of love, but the depth of their attachment would be greatly enhanced.

The 8th House is a deeply private house. Someone with Venus here can keep their hobbies, activities and relationships rather private, preferring to pick and choose who is "worth" knowing. The term "worthy" will be heard quite often with someone with planets in the 8th House, simply because this is the polarity 2nd House / 8th House which represents our values and worth; whether it's material our immaterial. The 2nd House tends to focus on the material, when the 8th House tends to focus on the immaterial, the moral and personal worth. Someone with planets in the 8th House and especially with Venus will want to know if someone is worth keeping around, worth knowing them, worth opening up to them.

As the 8th House is also about our anxieties and fears, often comes with it a necessity to control, control the environment, the information. As a result they tend to keep lots of things hidden and share information as they please, just because it allows them to keep the anxiety under control. In relationships, as they feel extremely deeply and are naturally anxious, they can also display controlling behaviors at times, but it's important to note that the necessity for control is displayed in someone that didn't cross the 8th House door yet.

What is this door I'm talking about? The 8th House represents symbolical death, and I like to picture it as someone who walks towards a door that represents losing, abandoning, giving up on a part of their life or of themselves - the death. This is extremely scary for all of us, and when you're about to lose something or someone, the first reaction is to hold on to the door and refuse to pass it, hold on as tight as possible in order to "stay alive". This is a 8th House process, and when the person is "pre-door" they control their environment, their people, themselves in order to "not die".

Someone who mastered the 8th House transformation understands that, after the door, there is nothing scary, only light and higher joy. The 8th House is about reaping the benefits after giving up, after "losing" something, it's the rewards for surrendering.

As a result, someone with Venus in the 8th House can display two types of energy: Control or surrender; and often both at the same time as it's not a quiet road.

The 8th House is also associated with taxes, inheritances, other people’s money, and the partner’s money. Why the partner's money? Because the 8th House is about shared life, committed partnerships, and therefore when Venus is in the 8th House you can have shared money, shared assets. Overall you can grow financially by being in a partnership, whether it's because your partner is wealthy, or because being together helped you in some way to become wealthy (shared investments, shared loans, family business, increased funds)

good article. I find myself in description a lot.
My Venus has a square from Moon and Saturn, but also sextile with Pluto, trine with Neptune and wide trine with asc and Mars.
Lot's of conflicting energy radiating.
Saturn impact will be always noticed, but at least many inhibitions are gone.
I think that this position of Venus doesn't make this harsh aspects easier. In some point they are emphasized by the deep nature of the house.

Thank you for sharing! Very interesting read of course!

Well I tend to "over share" at this forum at the moment so I will just keep this as short as possible. This house has so many nuances and would give material for a whole lot of books!

I have Venus, Jupiter and n.node all conjunct in this house. Also Venus is Inconjunct Pluto, my real chart ruler. Oh its intense alright, and it has only been painful for me so far.

Some things does not fit me, for ex yes I have an Aries 8th house, I fall into "infatuation" easily when I click with a person and find the person attractive both intelligens, character wise and outer looks wise. And I have a very high intuition, I will instantly see and feel when the other one is interested in me, I can see everything very clearly in detail in our interactions, at least at first! Then the more I fall the more confused and high and obsessed I will get, and also loose perspective etc.
BUT sadly, no I don't fall out easily. I get into a full on Scorpio mood.

Also my poor Venus is in trine with Saturn, I'm so so scared of letting go, and never find that kind of a man in my life again.

I thought it was only a moon-saturn thing (also I thing in my chart), But of course there is many other aspects, like this Venus in 8th that contributes.

I can't let go easily, I will be obsessed for atleast a year, (my latest one was for 15 months!). But yes when we move on, or when I move on, I will cut all ties all together. And I will recent and be bitter, that helps in order to cut ties, but the bad feeling goes over with time. And with time it will feel like it was a lesson of love and let go and surrender.

Also 8th house to me is highly spiritual, one have to surrender to God and his will. He knows best and he wants only the best for you, in my belief.

For those who knows about the "Attachment theory" Venus in 8th house people (or plutonic people overall) is a clear case of what called "Anxiously attached" persons. I can post some info about this styles, and you will see, how amazingly scorpio and 8th house it sounds!

I am very very familiar with attachment styles and attachment theory and emotion focused therapy as I am therapist.

Venus in the 8th or in scorpio could also manifest as someone with an avoidant attachment style. But honestly I feel my attachment sytle varies depending on who I am with and their own attachment style, when I am with someone who has an avoidant attachment style (strong need for control) it activates my anxiety, how can I feel secure with someone who is avoidant?! but with my partner I have always had from the start a secure attachment style, well he is a libra with venus in leo and moon in cancer, he is reliable, accessible and engaged; has never broken up with me or ignored me, has always fought for me; he has passed my scorpio test lol hence why we are still together, hard to find someone who can pass the scorpio test LOL. So I personally don't see attachment styles as fixed but fluid, perhaps my moon in pisces responds to the other person's attachment style.

Gemini Venus in the 8th. I haven't read this yet, but going by attachment style... I can be very needy at times, but I used to be more independent. It turns out when I had more people around me, and craved a bit of space, like when you get the house to yourself for a day? Now I have it to myself almost all the time, and I hate it. I need people, but I think that most people do. I'm an Aries, Gemini Moon/Venus, Scorpio rising, Uranus all over the place, but I need people. Good people.

I have Venus in the 8th, with Venus ruling the 8th, and all my loves (small number) have been very dramatic. Like full blown soap opera, long serial from day one. There is nothing ordinary with it. oh well...

I have Venus sextile Pluto

I enjoy Pluto-Venus aspects and placements, there's nothing wrong with emotional intensity and sexual passion. I love women with a thug attitude and no-******** pretense

I have also noticed that Venus in the 8th or Venus in Scorpio are attracted to BDSM and I remember you mentioning you practice that with your partner. I have always been attracted to that to some extent myself. It incorporates the control versus surrender dichotomy.

I have it in the 8th, too. I mentioned that before.

I don't want to control someone, either. That isn't fun to me. It definitely isn't sexy.

I wonder if the opposition to Neptune to your venus in the 2H does not let you see clearly your own value.

the jealousy, tho......terrible jealousy from both sides. This could be the syn Moon-Pluto exact conjunction, however. Funded by our natal 8th house placements , my Venus in 8th and his Sun in 8th.
