I’ve been seeing some stuff about having a “Saturn Return” and not quite sure what it is? How do you figure out when your own Saturn Return is and how it will effect you? Does the sign your is Saturn in make a difference?

Saturn return is when the planet Saturn returns to the house it was present in at the time of your birth. Its a transit that lasts a bit over two years. Its a testing period, the effects of it vary from person to person.

My natal Saturn is in 3rd house. During the period when my Saturn returned I was suddenly isolated from many people I normally communicated with for a long period of time.

The Saturn Return is a 2-3 year time period in which you leave youth behind and become an adult. It's kind of like an astrological Bar Mitzvah. If you are on the correct path and are behaving as an adult, then your Saturn Return will be uneventful or a time when you will reap rewards for your hard work. However, if you haven't put in the work, then Saturn will push you through all kinds of brutal tests to make you grow up. If you somehow still fail to learn your lessons, then your second Saturn Return (around 58-59) will be especially brutal.

To calculate your Saturn Return, go to https://aquarianastrology.org/saturn-return-calculator/

The sign and house of your Saturn will play a role. For example, someone with Saturn in Libra in the 6th house may have a Saturn Return that revolves around health issues...maybe even their kidneys since Libra rules kidneys. It could also revolve around their physical appearance. Maybe their Saturn Return will inspire them to begin a regular workout routine instead of being a couch potato. It's very tricky to figure out how it will play out in your chart since this particular transit is very personal and will be specific to your needs. No two Saturn in Libras will have the same Saturn Return or learn the same lessons. You just have to go through it. The good news is you will feel more competent and comfortable after you go through it.

The Saturn Return is a wake-up call to remind you that you aren't getting any younger and that it's time to grow up. Your time is limited and you don't have an eternity to accomplish everything.

Many people who are married or in a relationship will have their relationship tested. This is why it's very common to divorce around the ages of 28-30. It's also a time when people get married or have children--both very grown-up actions. If you are currently in a relationship and your Saturn Return is around the corner, make sure you think carefully about whether this is the right relationship for you. If you feel that this is the right relationship, then focus on how you can make the relationship even stronger. Work on any issues in your relationship because these issues will be magnified during your Saturn Return. Put in the work now in order to make your Saturn Return easier.

Personally, my Saturn Return was completely uneventful even though it was in Scorpio in the 10th house. This is probably because I spent my 20s working hard to build my career (10th is house of career) instead of partying and slacking off. Don't get me wrong: having fun is certainly ok in your 20s, but don't neglect your responsibilities.

Thank you for the help!

My Saturn is in Capricorn in the 6th house. I am in Saturn Return right now, starting 2017 to 2020. Is there any way specifically this would effect me being in Capricorn or in the 6th house?

Well, as I already posted of course there is going to be some sort of effect unless you have your life completely together. You're well into your Saturn Return (2018 is almost over), so you would know better than the rest of us how your Saturn Return is personally affecting you. Other people in your generation are being affected by their Saturn Return in many different ways even those who have Saturn in Capricorn in the 6th house like you. No two individuals have the same experience.

It means that you have officially become an adult! hahahahha Totally kidding

Is the year you start to get gray hair hahah JK

The effects of my saturn return happened a few months after, when it was still conjuncting my Saturn but separating by about 6 degrees, I have Saturn conjunct the 11th house! So for as long as I could remember I wanted to do an epic road trip a hit multiple states in the US, it was a long term dream of mine that I had for many years and during my saturn return (well right after basically) I made this dream come true.

However right after this epic road trip when I returned home a huge crisis went down were I lost everything at the peak of the most wealth I have ever accumulated in my life *(I have Saturn in Scorpio ruling my 2nd, wow poetic) forcing me to move back to Miami and move in with my Parents, an activism phase of my life had to come to an end (11th house). While living with my parents I finished my master's degree and got back on track with my original goals career wise. My Saturn return forced Me to rebuild my life on solid foundations essentially and forced me to get back on track with my original purpose, it also allowed me to fulfill a long term dream of mine (epic road trip). I will add that my Jupiter in the 12th chart ruler truly protected me during this crisis big time.

That's interesting!

I will be having my Saturn Return next year, I think (my natal Saturn is on AQU 19, 1st house, intercepted).. before that, it will run over my ASC...

You seem to know quite a lot about the Saturn return and (possible) effects in different signs and houses. Do you mind giving me a little bit of an outlook of what could happen in my life?

I know that Saturn in Aquarius is a rather happy placement but it's also first house AND intercepted.

Also, my Saturn is really adversely aspected:

T-Squaring my Pluto (SCO 21) + Sun (TAU 21) Opposition (part of my kite figure)
Square to Venus (TAU 12)

and no other aspects...

*DRACONIC SOUL SELF*

Sun + Venus - LEO
Moon + Psyche - SAG
ASC + Uranus/Neptune - ARI

Haha Hypatia238 yes I am getting old! I can feel it! 😬👵🏻 Thank you for sharing your expierences with it. I guess it does in a way redirect or does some sort of “cleansing”. I actually am thinking about new career paths but in between would like to volunteer somewhere in another country for a couple months. Something I have wanted to do for years now and similar to your feeling of wanting to go on a road trip??

The Saturn return is an aspect: transiting Saturn conjunct natal Saturn (not simply the return to its sign in your birth chart). Therefore it does not last more than several months to a year. The exceptions occur when the term is extended by Saturn's parallel aspect to natal Saturn (normally when in signs of Gemini, Cancer, Sagittarius, or Capricorn).

Saturn's return is a time of finding out where you are with responsibility, work, commitment; re-defining goals to fit your real abilities; getting a read on how you need to develop further; re-prioritizing based on realistic goals rather than idealisms; dealing with how responsibility and expectations may have been skewed in your mind by parental influence.

It isn't as big or heavy a transit as is often implied. The exceptions are usually found with those who have lived in excess without accountability or who are especially hard on themselves due to a strong Saturn influence in the natal chart.

Your Saturn is in Aquarius and Aquarius is the sign of humanity, of your surrounding community. Your Saturn is in the first house, which can mean you are a very serious, domineering person. Your lesson will probably revolve around learning how to be a leader and contribute something meaningful to your community. You must learn to compromise with others and figure out how to lead without being overly controlling. Remember, you can attract a lot more flies with honey than vinegar (as the old saying goes).

I would look into maybe starting a non-profit or perhaps try to come up with a cool app (Aquarius rules technology) that will benefit humanity. To summarize, you should use your leadership skills to benefit humanity.

my saturn return was heroin addiction and relationship issues (my fiancee and i broke up for a bit after being together for 13 years, it was a weird break up where we were still living together and having sex etc for that 2 weeks and then getting back together was loaded in issues too... that being said her and i are in a better and different place together now than we were before all that and our relationship has evolved into something more functional with better communication and spirituality being a bigger part of it etc) lots of moving too

by the end of it had to start over with a lot of **** , but at the same time it was a pretty eye opening experience

helps you sort out what's valuable and what isn't

not worth really worrying about however it manifests

life has plenty of ups and downs, learn more from some of the worst moments

my saturn return **** didnt entirely improve until saturn changed signs personally (it needed to go into cap for that)

that being said i spent most of my 20's partying, and in particular it hit me with my opiate use (i had been using opiates since i was 15, on/off with binges, but no issues until heroin which spiraled down pretty quickly and with how much i used and how many other drugs i'd mix with it i'm amazed i'm even alive)

my sun is also square saturn (trine neptune, sextile pluto; minor trine neptune and pluto sextile each other) and i have a cap mars (square libra venus/ascendant/south node and square aries moon/descendant/north node) so saturn's role in my chart is pronounced in spite of not making any contacts aside from that square (actually i have juno conjunct)

but nearly the entire time things were in saturn my life was a mess, on the bright side ive been pretty used to my life being that way so it wasnt a huge deal
