This will not happen for me until around the age of 149 - when my physical appearance is likely to no longer matter to me.

However ... I had Pascendant conjunct natal Venus (in Libra/1st) from around my 32nd to 35th birthdays, and it co-incided (exactly) with a 3-year long period during which my values changed considerably (particularlyin the workplace).

This happens to everyone twice yearly if you use the accurate, true method (quotidian) of progressing the Ascendant/cusps. It is indicated at astro.com in the extended chart selection as the "ARMC 361°/prog.day" option under calculation options.

The aspect is too transient expect it to noticeably affect your self-image and functions with only about a 1° orb (two days average). It may occur simultaneous with other aspects that opens a window of opportunity related to relational or social events.

If this is the case, then I wonder what's adding to my anxiety around my appearance which I've never had before.

I don't know. I've never seen your chart. Look at your current transits -- all of them including declinations. And especially those to natal Venus and/or Asc (which may not be accurate to the degree, that's common).
