depending on why you broke up it's an easy answer completely disregarding synastry

I was thinking the same thing.

winnertivanigrace, you might try asking in the Interpersonal Astrology forum. That's the one focused on relationships.

Never go back to an ex regardless of synastry. There was a reason the relationship ended. It doesn't mean you or your ex are bad people; it just means the relationship ran its course.

In life, it's important to move forward rather than backwards.

Well, my parents got back together, ten years after they divorced. They were together until mum died, four years ago.

I was going to agree with Astra, but teasel's post made me realize sometimes "life" just gets in the way. Person2 may like/want Person1 for the person they've been for years-decades, but for example Person1 may start their "midlife crisis" and want/do weird stuff that eventually they'll get over/get out of their system and return to normal.

But I would generally side with Astra, especially if it's not a serious(long-term - years+) relationship.

I agree with this statement, UNLESS, the breakup was due to something you both could not overcome, like a forced long-distance situation.

Get back with them only if the love and respect which brought you together is still there.

So true. As someone with souhnode near her AC this is an important lesson I have had to integrate. Is so easy to gravitate to the past even in a 12H house type of way since my SN is on my 12H YET in spite of this tendency in me something about going back to the past feels really off when I try going that route and then I end up re-affirming my initial choice to move forward.

Sometimes it needs just to get closure and understanding.

I know someone with SN in 6th. Much people around her is going in circles. They come back as needed. Sometimes just to get closure, sometimes to help with some problems, questions.
However, I don’t think they come back for a purpose to get back together. Usually, these comebacks serve some other purposes. (Maybe, 6th house purposes?)
