Yin - ROFL. Go Samuel!

Valus - I've often thought that our best traits are also somehow our worst.

The ancients understood it.

Every gift is a curse.

Every seer is blinded.

They're only a curse because they come with responsibility.

You don't get given a gift without the intention of using it. Wisely, preferably. To benefit the world in some way.

Seers are only blinded by their own sense of brilliance. The second they start believing they are exceptional, they're ****** .

quote:
They're only a curse because they come with responsibility.

That could mean anything. Certainly, any difficulty includes the responsibility to bear it.

quote:
You don't get given a gift without the intention of using it.

That's debatable.

quote:
Wisely, preferably. To benefit the world in some way.

Naturally. Unfortunately, the more rare and necessary your gift(s), the more resistance you are likely to encounter, and the more people are likely to slander your motives and refuse to see the nobility of your intentions. We are all flawed, and our imperfections stand out most glaringly in contrast to the brightness of the light we shine, so it is common for people to see and focus on our flaws whenever we step into the light. For all that, we should not shrink to shine.

quote:
Seers are only blinded by their own sense of brilliance. The second they start believing they are exceptional, they're ******.

I disagree. Wisdom in one sense is folly in another. Who learns to swim, forgets how to climb. The stark perception of one truth blinds us to its corollary. This is why seeing blinds us. ... The seer does not deny her exalted position in order to maintain humility. This would be closing her eyes, in order not to be tempted. But closing our eyes to what tempts us is no way to resist temptation. Doning rose-colored glasses does not make the world roseate; it only makes it appear that way. It is comforting to believe in equality, but that belief will never prepare us for a confrontation with the truth. The only sense in which we are all equal, is a mystical one. We equally deserve love, understanding, compassion, and to be told the truth. Not on account of anything we are, but, simply because we are.

Trailer for the short film '2081'

Based on the short story Harrison Bergeron by celebrated author Kurt Vonnegut, 2081 depicts a dystopian future in which, thanks to the 212th Amendment to the Constitution and the unceasing vigilance of the United States Handicapper General, everyone is finally equal... The strong wear weights, the beautiful wear masks and the intelligent wear earpieces that fire off loud noises to keep them from taking unfair advantage of their brains. It is a poetic tale of triumph and tragedy about a broken family, a brutal government, and an act of defiance that changes everything.

quite true PA!! Believing you're exceptional is kinda sucky. It's that superiority that slips in and creates inequality and discrimination.

I, on the other hand. use my exceptionally to help mankind. It's really cool to be awesome. I also feel sorry for those that are not as cool as me. How do they cope?

Without dissecting every point, to me it sounds like an excuse to not engage in the world.

Why would God give you something and not want you to use it effectively, engagingly in the world? And the stuff about swimming and crawling. Rubbish. You can do both. You can be effective in the material and spiritual worlds simultaneously. If we were meant to only be spiritual, then we wouldn't actually be here materialised living this Earth life. It's not looking at the world through rose coloured glasses. It's seeing the potential and bringing that out. I'm an idealist. I'll always be one. And will never apologise for that. There's nothing wrong with seeing beauty in things. Sometimes seeing beauty in things is seeing it's "truth". When you can see something great in someone else that they may not have spotted in themselves, and you give that to them - it creates magic and makes things happen that perhaps would not have otherwise happened. When you believe in people, it helps them belive in themselves.

I can't stand it when the concept of wisdom is treated as some elitist thing. Could be the Aqua Moon in 11th speaking, or Libra and Jupiter in Scorpy in 7th. I hate it when people go around telling each other how wise and spiritual and evolved they are. When people start spinning that, it defeats the purpose of what they think they are. I don't believe that "evolved" people go around thinking they're "evolved". They see themselves in everyone and everything else - everything as integral as each other and everything else. That's my take on it. You can't be "evolved" and have a big ego. That's too ironic. And too ridiculous. Humility accounts for a lot as far as I'm concerned.

I really belive that "seer knowledge", etc, is channelled and the second people start claiming that information as theirs it's their ego talking. The knowledge or wisdom or just information that comes to seers, it comes through them, channelled - they're messengers. It's not theirs to claim. Psychics, seers, whatever, it's all the same - conduits, channels, messengers. That's where the humility kicks in - knowing that it's not you or about you - but that you're bringing in this information from another source - you could say higher source if you like - but a spiritual one, I believe.

I think philiosophing alone is a waste of time. Doing something with that knowledge or wisdom or insight or whatever you want to call it, that's making a contribution to life.

Ah, so much for humility. But when you've got it, you've got it. And YOU, have got it. I suppose it's a fine line between humility and truth then.

And yes, you do exceptional things in this world. What you do brings so much light and affects people in the most beautiful ways. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

At least I can decipher VIRFEW.....

VIRFEW:

*** lacking Virgo
*** lacking virtues
*** lacking years of being a virgin

*** awoman lacking Virfew may often be called a slapper. She can usually be seen leaving hilirious comments and posts in threads that leaves one rolling on the floor laughing and wondering what hit them.

That was too easy, Deux
