I think Jeff Foxworthy said it best:

"You see all these celebrities messing up their lives and then they go on tv and blame everything on their parents. Just once I'd like one of them to go on tv and say, "My momma was great, My daddy was great. I'm just a S***head.""

But we won't Xodian because we have now relinquished any responsibility for our lives.
If something happens now, everyone looks around to see who they can blame because it couldn't possibly be anything to do with ME??
You hear them cry
"I get absolutely off my face on alcohol and drugs but it's not MY fault.
It's because my parents didn't love me enough/ too much/not enough attention/ the wrong kind of attention/we were poor/ we were rich/they didn't buy me a frickin' puppy!

I blame the Americans

How someone is raised is very strong indication on how theyll end up. Sometimes it is the parents faults. I know not all parents intentionally screw up, people arent perfect and some arent capable of being ideal parents to their kids. Im not saying, blame your parents, youre free from responsibility.

Im saying..sometimes its difficult road because we started on a difficult road. Its all they know. Like Lindsey Lohan...
cant stand her, want her to grow the f-k up, stop doing the drugs, and get out of the drama cycle in her life...
but then I see her parents, especially her dad, and I think...My heart goes out to her. It couldnt have been easy. Just because people are blessed with material, doesnt mean they are blessed in all aspects of their lives.
Its a long journey, we arent perfect.

Anyways, i'll stop rambling.

I saw Lindsay on TV last night, and felt for her too. I know more than one person who has fought addiction, and are still dealing with the urge at times (one woman who's twenty years sober, who had an awful cbildhood, including physical/sexual abuse), but they've turned their lives around. I hope that she can do the same.

I've had support from the people I love, and have still managed to mess up my life in ways. No drugs, no alcohol, just embedded anxiety issues from my childhood, that grew worse as an adult.

An interesting book that highlights some famous case histories....

... and my conclusion remains that the rhymes and reasons are indeed controlled by the Higher Power.

So few child stars can adjust and live healthily after they grow up, including Lindsay Lohan. Thank goodness Jenny Lewis came out alright!

So true about child stars. That would be so painful, going from being the be all because you're cute and are handed a catch phrase for a few years to being ignored and unknown.

I'd hate to be famous though. Being followed around by paparazzi, and having every embarrassing (real or not real) moment played out in front of the whole world. Awful.

I felt sorry for Lindsay Lohan, seeing her in the news yesterday, and at the same I can't help but feel that she thought maybe she was above the law and her behaviour was rubbing it in their faces a bit. I hope she learns and grows.

Every now and then you see a child star seem to get through it unscathed. I hope Dakota Fanning comes out of it really well, as she seems to be doing, but she's a very talented girl and that will carry her, I think.

Bunnies:

Because of your really awesome post, you just became one of my fav. people on this forum .

And guys, where as I try to sympathize with the situation child stars have to deal with, I really fail mentally interms of granting them leniency... And its not just about how blessed they are materialistically and resource wise.

Without getting into too much detail, my wonderful beloved had one of the most dysfunctional family situation you can imagine... Like seriously SERIOUSLY bad... So bad that it makes me respect her that much more when I consider the fact that she had to grow up in such a hostile environment and yet she still managed to get the grades in school and land an internship which will eventually get her the title of a M.D.

At the same time, I myself was allowed my freedom with my libertarian style parents Lol! Now I am not going to completely compare situations here since my parents instilled the right values in me, but I was given the space to explore the world on my own but my parents gave logical reasons and concequences I might face for anything that is morally ambiguous and questionable. Granted I did lose my virginity when I was 14 , but hopefully that bit can be forgiven Lol!

Keeping these two senerios in mind, its hard for me to understand the mentality of these celebs... They say that its their life... But then turn around and blame every wrong thing they did on their parents. Well if IT is your life then take control of it and yourself!
