When a thread is moved, what is the point of keeping it in the old forum????? Just looks like clutter to me..........blame my Virgo Stellium in the 6th

The author will get notification that it moved b/c the mod will place a note that they moved it.........

It shouldn't be difficult to find, considering we have the "click here for active topics". So it's not like it would be at the end of the list.......

Actually, quite awhile back, we did used to move the thread completely, not keep a copy in the old forum.

i think the reason for leaving it is so you can see where it's moved to and what it was about?

I already mentioned to ABS that these should be perhaps at HAH?
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/001363.html
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/001655.html

And this one simply deleted. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/001656.html

When I move a recent thread, I sometimes keep it in the old forum for a few days, then delete it.

o m g way to go Valus, LL is now a freaking police state. But at least you got your point across and helped lots of people. :/

this is the crappiest crap that ever crapped

Linda would totally protest this

And the sign says "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"
So I put my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that, huh, me working for you"

[Chorus:]
Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Blockin' up the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

And the sign says "Anybody caught trespassing will be shot on sight"
So I jumped the fence and I yelled at the house
Hey! What gives you the right!???
To put up a fence and keep me out, or to keep Mother Nature in
If God was here, he'd tell it to your face, man, you're some kind of sinner

[Chorus]

Oh, say now mister, can't you read
You got to have a certain title, you see...
You can't watch, no you can't eat, you ain't supposed to be here

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" - uh!

[Solo]

And the sign says "Everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray"
But then they passed around a plate at the end of it all
And I didn't have a penny to pay
So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own **ckin' sign
I said, "Thank you Lord for thinking 'bout me, I'm alive and doing fine", oh

[Chorus 2x]

(video for mature audiences, meaning those who aren't horrified and offended by a bad word without *#@*$ over it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vgf0dmzEf0

Yes! Some old song, called "Signs Signs", I wish we did write that one, but
We didn't - wow!

Alright

any idea with true merit, when shown by example rather than self promotion, will leave more of a lasting impact on all. anytime i have ever noticed anothers greatness, is when i saw it for myself, those who point it out, especailly those who point it out repeatedly.. never have hit the mark of greatness..to me anyway.. let the work or idea speak for itself, anything other than that is promoting yoursELf and not the idea.

"It is better to be self-absorbed

IMO both are very ego based and self serving. if any great amazing person, like mother teresa, had even for one minute thought like this, they would not have been great and amazing. i doubt she woke up in the morning thinking, nodoby understands my greatness. she just possessed it. self evident. serving all.

of course that is just my opinion.

hi cpn,

There's nothing wrong with loving yourself,
or playfully expressing confidence in oneself.

“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance."
~ Oscar Wilde

Granted, it may tend to ruffle the feathers
of those who have issues with self-esteem,
but that is no reason to play small.

quote:
any idea with true merit, when shown by example rather than self promotion, will leave more of a lasting impact on all.

In my experience, any idea of true merit
is very likely to meet with opposition,
regardless of how it is presented.

"Even the gods content with stupidity in vain."
~ Schiller

It is no wonder that original thinkers
tend to become highly defensive people.

quote:
anytime i have ever noticed anothers greatness, is when i saw it for myself,

No one hinders you from see it,
simply because they point it out.

quote:
those who point it out, especailly those who point it out repeatedly.. never have hit the mark of greatness..to me anyway.. let the work or idea speak for itself, anything other than that is promoting yourSELf and not the idea.

Evidently you don't read many works of genius.

To quote Wilde again:

"I have nothing to declare except my genius."

Every genius I know of valued honesty highly
and most of them admitted to being geniuses.
(I don't think I'm a genius, btw.)

Especially when others placed the focus on them,
they had no qualms about defending themselves,
as well as their ideas.

The problem is that people will do anything
to avoid paying attention to an original idea,
and one of the most common tactics they use is
to place the focus on the person who is sharing it,
and to claim that the motive is one of self-interest.
Perhaps it is because they find it so hard to identify
with impersonal motives; love of truth, justice, etc.

But that's just my opinion.

I'm no Mother Teresa,
and never claimed to be.

But even Eckart Tolle refers to himself,
as a "true spiritual teacher", distinguishing
this, and himself, from the works of those
who have "something to teach".

And I quote:

quote:

"A true spiritual teacher does not have anything
to teach in the conventional sense of the word,
does not have anything to give or add to you,
such as new information, beliefs, or rules of conduct...

If you come to a spiritual teacher --
or this book -- looking for stimulating ideas,
theories, beliefs, intellectual discussions,
then you will be disappointed...

He goes on to identify himself with Buddha,
Jesus, and the authors of the Vedas:

quote:

The form of this book is a revival for the present age
of the oldest form of recorded spiritual teachings:
the sutras of ancient India.

Sutras are powerful pointers to the truth in the form of aphorism
or short sayings, with little conceptual elaboration.
The Vedas and Upanishads are the early sacred teachings
recorded in the form of sutras, as are the words of Buddha.
The sayings and parables of Jesus, too, when taken out
of their narrative context, could be regarded as sutras,
as well as the profound teachings contained in the Tao Te Ching,
the ancient Chinese book of wisdom.

The advantage of the sutra lies in its brevity...

Just like the ancient sutras, the writings contained within this book
are sacred and have come out of a state of consciousness we may call stillness.

He goes on to place his work above the sutras:

quote:

Unlike those ancient sutras, however, they don't
belong to any one religion or spiritual tradition, but are
immediately accessible to the whole of humanity."

This is from the Introduction to his book,
"Stillness Speaks", and, if what you say is true,
then he would let his work speak for itself,
as a manifestation of self-evident wisdom,
not bother to write and introduction at all,
claiming this is a book of sacred wisdom,
and placing his it beside the works of Buddha
and Jesus, -- and above the sutras.

Either that, or he is not what he claims to be.

Peri, all I see are locked threads with the only threads open being conversations about where to move threads. Bunch of b.s. in my opinion.

I really don't like calling you Valus... if I can't use your name I think I'll revert to HSC. Love that name.
The lovers of freedom need to walk a fine line so they don't end up doing more harm than good... is what I continue to say. You need tempering. Big out of control blasting bolt. See me moving my hands this way and that, attempting to channel the great force, great energy which is you...

and getting relatively scorched from time to time.

Hey there, CPN

That video was awesome though, right?
I was laughing the whole way through.

Unattended children will be given espresso and a free puppy.

Melody,

This forum has become a place for discussing forum business,
and for posting threads that do not fall under any of the more
important topics which have all been accorded their own forums.

I know it requires some adjustment.

There are plenty of worthwhile threads
in Universal Codes and other forums,
if that is what you are looking for.

Also, I would appreciate it if you would
refer to me by the name I chose for myself,
or don't refer to me by name at all.

And I don't need tempering, Melody.
On the contrary: I need to be heard.

Please drop the condescending Cappy Moon sh!t.

You are not here to channel my lightning bolts,
if all you can do is direct them into the muddy earth.

The only real confusion arises because
this forum is called Lindaland Central,
giving the impression that it is the center
and hub of the entire site.

It ought to be called "Miscellaneous".

And there should be another forum
strictly for "Forum Business".

Val and MM if there are issues between the two of you it can be done in private.

I'm closing this.
