Going to stick my neck out here, but I need opinions.Got into a discussion last night about Ms. Patrick. I mentioned that I lost respect for her when she started "modeling" and I feel she uses it to boost her driving career. Boy did I get shot down for that one! An example of Beyonce got thrown at me and her ultra-sexiness. I said that Beyonce is a singer and part of her persentation is sexiness. I brought up the fact that when I purchsed my extention ladder it had a small cover on it, stating the brand, etc and a picture of a woman crawling up the ladder, a very attractive woman looking down as the camera shot her going up the ladder. I dont have a problem with using sex to sell, necessarially, but I think certain industries should probably leave sex out of the marketing scheme. Ms Patrick has made a great and legit career out of race car driving and, to me anyway, she kind of muddied her legitness with posing for sexy shots "modeling." In her dossier, it states she began her driving career at 10 and her modeling career in 2005. All opinions welcome! thanks t~~~ IP: Logged |

business wise it's such a "unique selling proposition" to have a successful woman race car driver that is sexy enough to model. IP: Logged |

IMO the fact that she is a competent race car driver only adds on her appeal as a model. Models usually act as living coat hangers for advertisements. A model whose personality is well known is obviously more appealing as she or he connects even better with the target demographic. I will be at the Honda Indy tomorrow and Danica Patrick is racing in it . If I meet her I`ll get you knowflakes an autograph . IP: Logged |

Xodian, thanks for your reply.I stand corrected as Indy/NASCAR, etc. is a gentleman's sport, (tho I am a raving gear head myself! ) I suppose I have been reminded from this that a woman's perspective is very different than a mans... Yes, please get a sig, for all of us!!! t~~~ IP: Logged |

Actually I am going to have to say no to that . See, the juxtaposition of an impressive physically and mentally demanding career and modeling strikes an appeal with both genders. Take the typical football player doing underwear commercials for instance. Many girls I know would rather see Tom Brady in his skivvies rather than some unknown bloke .
