I'm out of college until January 9, so I will be renting a lot of movies. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I just saw Definitely, Maybe. Wow, that was such a great love story. Unlike most movies of that genre, I couldn't guess where it was going within the first few minutes. I didn't know what was going to happen till near the end. It builds slowly, but stick with it; it has some really powerful moments once it sets things up. And, of course, Ryan Reynolds is always a plus with his witty banter.

Another one I rented recently is The Change-Up (also starring Ryan Reynolds). One of the most hysterically funny movies I've ever seen...but it definitely earned its R rating.

Oh, what was that one about the Lincoln murder? we watched all of these last weekend, starting on Thanksgiving. The Conspirator.

I liked Super 8. We saw that one in the theatres.

Been too busy with the house in preparation for getting it on the market to report recent movies, but some I loved over the summer are:

Horrible Bosses

Bad Teacher

Insidious

True Grit (remake)

Three of my all time, thot provoking flicks, which are nearly impossible to find (I own them) but are well worth it are:

Down The Rabbit Hole [What The Bleep] basically about quantum physics and how it applies to us..

Long Way Round and Long Way Down (Ewan Mc Greggor and Charly Boorman) ride bikes all over the world (got my head out of Nat Geo for a day or so )

And Waking Life (lucid dreaming...)

I saw Horrible Bosses, Bad Teacher, and Insidious. I liked them. Dream House is another good PG-13 horror movie, but it wasn't as scary as Insidious--just very thought-provoking.

You like horror, right?

I really liked the Fright Night 3D that came out. In part it was written by one of the scriptwriters for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it showed, though it's way too dark and grim to be mistaken for a Buffy ep. It's a movie that remembers that vampires are supposed to be scary. And there were some really creepy, eerie scenes in it, too, that gave me bumps. And it also had a lot of things happen I didn't expect. As just one example, when a vampire fails to get an invite (after masterful bluffing and I thought he was going to get it), he just gets a shovel, digs up the gas line, causes it to break within the house and then with a lighter blows the house up (not completely but it's burning and the people within know they can't stay inside). He doesn't need an invitation if there isn't a house.

I also saw the original Fright Night on video around 2000, and the new FN is way, way better IMO, from story to characters to effects (of course if you saw the original FN in cinemas then the nostalgia factor may make a difference, but that wasn't the case for me).

The dvd comes out sometime in December.
