poor dog!Dogs sniff; that's what they do.
They have an excellent sense of smell, and can smell things that we can't; they investigate their environment by sniffing--it's normal for a dog!
Have you tried showing him love and affection and kindness, at all? Ever try being patient with him?
You talk about being neglected yourself, but you're also neglecting this poor animal by not even showing him any kind of love.
I felt so sad for him reading this. It honestly broke my heart.
When you have a pet, you have to take care of them. They aren't little fluffy stuffed animals that just sit there and look cute. They have needs. It sounds like you resent that he has needs and you resent the responsibility that comes with a dog, which frankly is not fair to that poor guy at all.
I think that you should find him a loving home as soon as possible, where he will be welcome and treated well by people better-equipped to handle his needs and to devote the time, love, and attention to him that he deserves.
Have you ever had a dog before? Did you really know what you were getting into?
If you don't have the right personality and patience for it, pet ownership isn't for you, maybe. Pets need more than just basic needs met. They need to--and deserve to--be loved and nurtured, to be given care and kindness instead of resentment, and to be treated like companions. They need to be taught and trained, too. Have you ever even considered any kind of obedience training or anything like that?
I don't mean to be mean, and don't want to be, but I just feel so bad for this poor dog.
