i dont know if this is the forum or not but anyways my town has lots of bored policemen(or so it seems) can anyone relate to this? its almost a daily occurence to have policemen tailgating me to provoke me to speed.. they are also bad about questioning regular people just walking down the streets... it gets really old,is this a problem where any of you live?IP: Logged |

Not a problem here. Course, there`s only one around quote: its almost a daily occurence to have policemen tailgating me to provoke me to speed..

Why do you believe that is their motive? I don`t have knee jerk reactions as I`m not fond of a bloody nose ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different. Common knowledge can = myth . Not being a herd follower, I would look beneath the behavior and see what`s up. Or, actually ask the officer what`s up! ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different. why else would they be tailgating people all the way across town? when i say tailgating i'm talking inches away from the bumper, literally inches.... aand as i already mentioned a persons first reaction to being tailgated is to speed up,thus going over the speed limit, thus giving the police officer a reason to write you a ticket... secondly you have to look at the way my town is.. its a smaller town with low crime that has an unneccesarily large police force.. and policemen have a quota to fill, so they look for any reason to pull people over. a few years back a couple of policemen caused wrecks by doing this.. the county sherrifs department got sued over it... and now it appears they are at it again.IP: Logged |

Ah! I see where the suspicion would come in. Wouldn`t it be particularly foolish for them to continue to harass the natives after the lawsuit? Being many small villages here with a population each of less than 600, we have had the same type foolish policemen but they were soon unmasked by the natives. With todays technology, it is much easier to prove their harrassment. ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Palestine, Texas used to be infamous for ticketing people at the same speed on a certain spot, no matter what, and they got plenty of sarcastic responses which the police said "proved" they were going that speed. It was a very corrupt town in more ways than one, at least back in the 90s, though the deputies in that county had a good rep for being fair and honorable (but disrespecting them was a good way to get battered, but Texans generally don't have a problem with that). And when I took a road trip back to Texas I went to a truck stop and found truckers happy to share with me which towns to avoid because of things like speed traps. Course these days I can just access this site (if you're in the USA, or plan to be driving through, then be sure to take a look): http://www.speedtrap.org/ IP: Logged |

I just went through and read every village listed in my county and all but 2 villages were listed. I know the areas very well and the "speed traps" are candidly, really stretching the difinition by a whole lot. Any disgruntled driver may make a "report" on their opinion. That reduces the info from fact to opinion. ------------------ We need to listen to our own song, and share it with others, but not force it on them. Our songs are different. ^ I'd have to agree with that assessment.I also noticed several in my area listed in a higher income area with a lot of idyllic, windy roads in the midst of a heavily developed county. Of course police are going camp out there - people accustomed to congestion are going to ZOOM down those roads, and the wealthy people who live there (who contribute to local elections) are going to complain. Don't speed there. Common sense. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Please excuse all outrageous typos and confusing auto-corrects. this one from my area made me LOL quote: On Hwy ** at stoplight, 'officers' rush out of the bushes and get people for seatbelt violations, often 3-4 officers at a time running thru traffic like jackals in for the kill. Usually 2-3 times per week.

Whenever a cop is behind me; I make sure I'm going the exact speed limit (i don't speed anyway). They get frustrated and quickly pull out from behind me and speed away.IP: Logged |

My knee-jerk reaction is to go slower too. The police here can be like sharks slowly cruising for the kill. They're annoying and try to intimidate by following you for long stretches. IP: Logged |
