I'd like to have a discussion about your results of these tests or of the personalities in general, compatibility, and etc. I'm starting the discussion here because while astrology is welcome, I'm much more interested in the test results and personality types themselves, not as they relate to astrology.

There are of course several sites to do these tests.

Link to take the Myers Briggs Test: http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

Another alternative test: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

Link to Myers Briggs Personality Types: http://www.16personalities.com/personality-types

Another alternative link to personality type explanation and types: http://www.humanmetrics.com/personality/type

Enneagram

There are 9 personality types. Each type is assigned a number 1-9.
After you take the test, you'll be given one.

Wings
Each personality type has two wings which is the numbers on either side of it. Personality type 5 for example. It's "wings" are type 4 and type 6.
When you take the test you'll also have one wing. The wing is another layer to you. A modifier you might say.
So your wing is the highest score of the two possible wings of your primary type.

Link to a longer, more thorough Enneagram test:
http://pstypes.blogspot.in/2009/11/pstypes-enneagram-test.html?m=1

Link to Enneagram types: http://www.eclecticenergies.com/enneagram/

I think this could be fun!

My MBTI is INTJ. It never varies. I get that every time and it's not even close to anything else. Definitely INTJ.

My Enneagram is 5w6 (type 5 with a 6 wing).

I identify a lot with both!! I don't particularly like it, but it is what it is I guess.

I'm INTJ. I've taken the test a few times and I always end up with INTJ as well.

For Enneagram, I got types 4, 5 and 6 on the shorter test.

On the longer test, I got the "it's not clear from your results which type you are" result. Though it says I'm likely a type 1 with 5w6, 1w2, 5w4, 6w5 and 1w9 are all very close behind. Type 5 and 6 are also close behind.

It doesn't surprise me. My chart is a bit of a paradox, and it's reflected in my personality and daily habits.

I found a better Enneagram test I think.
I removed the old link for the long version and replaced it.
If you want. I've taken about 5-6 of these already.

With Myers-Briggs, I always get INTJ, if not something close to it such as INTP or ENTJ. Even when I take the time to observe a myers-briggs chart, I find myself coming to the conclusion of INTJ.

As for the Ennegram, the short test gave me 5, 6, and 8. I felt like this wasn't enough for me to draw a conclusion from, so I took the longer test and got my main type as being five. My type should be 5w4.

I read the descriptions for the 5w4 and they were quite on point.

The enneagram I found to be really accurate!!

I found a Facebook page for "5 types". It's cool in that I relate to so much of it.
http://www.facebook.com/enneagram5/

I think a 5w4 shows more emotions in the personality. Which makes sense for you. Not that I'm without them. Certainly not! I put so much effort into understanding them rather than expressing them that it can appear as though I'm not feeling them. I am though.

I read somewhere that "6 types" can get scattered results and that it's not uncommon at all.

Maybe you're a 6!

What do you think of comparison between the two kinds of tests?

I got INFP for the Myers Briggs Personality test.

Before I got ENFP.

But even when the result was ENFP, it was only little or no preference of Extroversion over Introversion. I like a mix of both and get energy both from being around people and myself. If I really had to choose, I'd probably go with Introversion. Still, the idea of being by myself for a long long long time isn't very appealing. But I can tolerate it better than being around people for a long time.

Anyway, I can agree with a lot of the INFP description.

The short Enneagram test gave me 7 and 8.

The long one gave me 8 wing 7

Idk, I can identify with some parts of the 8 type personality, but perhaps not the most important part.

Type 8 - Challenger or Leader.

Heh, I don't like leadership role, don't seek it and tend to avoid it if I could. As I get older I've become more "indifferent" and less likely to actively avoid it.

But yes, I agree greatly with the "fear of being controlled". Thinking about it alone is like hearing nails on chalkboard. I've become more tolerant as I put on the years, but still, the smell of power play and attempts to control still stink pretty badly.

Yeah I could see 7 for you after reading some posts. 8 as a main type I think is too aggressive to fit you. Though I'm still learning myself.

Funny that we have the same Enneagram type.
INTP vs INTJ.
That certainly explains our differing opinions.
One thing I read is that INTP is less willing to play into social norms and INTJ therefore is more willing. (Not to suggest that INTJ dives right in)

INTP creates strategies to defend against being wrong.
INTJ creates strategies to defend against being vulnerable.

Among other differences. Very interesting.

Do you relate to those types?

I'm surprised that you're a 6w5. Not that I don't believe it of course.

You are outwardly and emotionally supportive here I think.

You seem to be... Well you seem to get genuinely excited for others or concerned for others sadness, etc.

It's hard for me to do that.
I'll be honest, as difficult as it is to admit. Sometimes I make a deliberate effort to be excited for someone else or to offer my support. It's practice, as I can acknowledge that it's a shortcoming. To be fair to myself sometimes it's very genuine! Sometimes I surprise myself when I suddenly, truly am invested in someone else's well being.
It's all just weird.
So when someone comes along such as yourself who offers support to just about anyone who needs it. I can admire it, yet it's in some ways foreign to me.

I got sidetracked there. Maybe a 6w5 is more like that than 5w6.

Oh here's the thread!
Cool..

INFP - 5w4 checking in.

@SV,
I can definitely see you as an INTJ.

My bestie, who's an ENFP, got married to an INTJ and we got to talking about how good those types are for each other. I mean, of course, it's not possible to have a completely objective discussion when it's your best friend and her fiance.. They're a wonderful couple regardless of MBTI-types.

But I'd like to ask you guys if you've found some pattern in relating -- do the IN's have more IN-friends or ES or EN? Is there any preference there you think? Just giving a for instance, any examples are welcome..

I'm an INFP type 9w1.
But 4 is close behind.
(Heard about tritypes?)

I identify more with the enneagram than the MBTI... I don't find myself very "INFP-like" although I can see how I fit in that category in many ways. Most INFPs are 4s and there's quite a difference between core 9s and core 4s. 4s are a lot more sensitive (or rather - "touchy"), creative and "dramatic". 9s are more peaceful, less emotional but also more... passive, and even "boring", lol.

I've been told I have a calming/soothing influence on (some) people, which fits the 9 "stereotype". I'm also a born-diplomat/mediator and always seek to create harmony/compromise over conflict/tension... (except online cause I sometimes enjoy "trolling" people for the sake of it... haha that sounds so bad. But it's never too bad. All in good fun).

However I'm far from being "healthy" and often fall into the disintegration point - which, for the 9, is type 6 - hence anxiety, worrying, and just being high-strung/fearful tends to happen to me a lot (when I feel like I can't handle life's demands/duties).

I love having a good time and being surrounded by positive, but calm people... People who are overly-excited or demonstrative tend to drain me. Same goes for people who are *too* calm or negative. Moderation is really key for me.

Physical comfort and affection are probably the most important things for my well-being... I don't even care that much about "bonding emotionally" if there's no physical contact involved. I mean sure, I like intimacy and being able to talk things out, in fact I find that essential. But I also really crave a "physical" component in my associations e.g. hugs, cuddles, and so forth. Hence I'm not usually interested in associations that lack a physical aspect (which is most friendships), as I'd rather be alone and do my own thing, OR conversely, be with someone I can actually be physical with.
Although I do have quite a few online friendships that I cherish dearly. But they still give me the autonomy/space that I need in such relationships.

Wow I'm rambling... lol.

Yeah, I've heard of tritypes. I wasn't really sure about it.
Like everything else with me, Enneagram had to be difficult in my case.
Some gave me a 6w5 but others a 5w6. I identify with 5w6 a lot more.
However, 9 and 1 are very close behind 6.
2 and 7 are very low.

I was just telling someone last night actually that I find the Enneagram to be far more accurate than the MBTI.

INFP

6, 9, 5 on the shorter test

Loyalist, peacemaker, investigator
Cap sun, Pisces moon, Aqua mercury

On the longer test, 9w8.

Nines frequently mistype themselves as they have a rather diffuse sense of their own identities. This is exacerbated by the fact that Nines often merge with their loved ones and through a process of identification take on the characteristics of those closest to them.

Pisces moon explains a lot.

Also, Jan 6th people are supposedly self-sacrificing, accepting, tolerant, etc. Maybe because it's the Cancer duad of Capricorn.

I do relate to the descriptions for 9w8.
http://www.the16types.info/vbulletin/showthread.php/18747-Enneagram-type-9w8-descripti on

Usually healthy or average. I don't relate to the unhealthy descriptions, but my midlife crisis hasn't started yet, so we'll have to see.
