Make sure the subject line shows that you are from LL and/or that you are not spam. I know I've deleted at least one attempt to contact me as spam without checking it first.

As it is, Hotmail has made some changes so that YEARS of emails are on the same page. This makes using it VERY SLOW and frustrating. I'm currently working to get those who mail me at that account to mail me at a new one, and after that I'll probably check it like once a month or so. Given how slow and frustrating it is to use now, that means unless I have good reason to believe an email is not spam then I will just delete it.
