I have been using Yahoo .,... and this morning it looks like they "sold" themselves.

There's a NEW contract I have to sign BEFORE they will let me in to use my Yahoo account. (Mercury is retrograde???? )

The contract is quite long and involved.
I am JUST not familiar with the "legal" understanding.

I am tempted to just close my eyes and say yes, but, I have NO IDEA what I'd be saying YES to.

I went over to Google Chrome to access Lindaland this morning.

Can't access my (former?) Yahoo Mail UNTIL I swear to the new Contract??

Mercury is retrograde.. and won't go direct until next week.

Go a week without looking at my mail???

You know how you (DualG) were saying that some sites are secure and others not? This Google Chrome actually has the words next to the 'i' saying Not secure.

The company taking over Yahoo is VERIZON?

I'm using a desktop. They 'assume' I use an iPhone? They are discussing fees for services?

My God! ... I'm thinking of retreating! LOL

I have no GEEKS in my life.

Don't know if I should just say YES, then delete every subscription to any newsletters, etc?

I have a PayPal associated to that yahoo address.

Anyone who bumps threads that I had done.. it pings my yahoo account.

Man-- this is all just too much.
I don't have computer support.

Ready to go back into my Cave to chisel out rock messages, and use snail mails.

I might have to go downtown to my Library and see if there's a staff who would be available to explain legal-speak.

I've been seeing TV news where they are going after some of these companies now.

I had tried to start reading the contract myself, and they OPENLY are telling that they WILL use your INFORMATION. They WILL sell it to 3rd parties? No bones about it.

THAT IS what the internet services ARE about. To "use" us. They want you to use the services, so that they can "use" you, OPENLY.

So weird, how my very first POST around 2007 (in another website) addressed Privacy Issues. ...

~duh. Sometimes I 'pick up' on trends and issues-- prophetically.

Oh my. My 'computer experience' today is quite different from what I've known.

Good thing I know bare bones.
I HATE GUESSING how to use things.
ONE mistake can screw EVERYTHING up.

What I tried to say is that the person who shares this computer did NOT have the same trouble getting to yahoo, and yahoo mail.

I decided to try 'one more time' and it went through for me. I got to look at my email, and did not have to sign any documents NOR relinquish my CREDIT CARD information.

Might have been a scam????

Anyways.

I have to leave the building today because neighbor has his subwoofers on INTENSELY. It literally quakes shakes and quivers the building. Tooo much.

Got into Lindaland using Google Chrome, going to main page, then, 'entering' LL at the bottom of that page.

My roommate says he's not getting that message on this 'shared' computer. I guess it's probably because he has his ipad, his cellphone, and this ISP desktop all synched and registered.

I don't have a cellphone that connects to internet service. That's what I'm guessing *they* want. They want my cellphone number.
