I wanted to ask anyone who could talk about it without going off on a rant about it if they know of lore--anthropological, new age, or intended as fiction (tropes)--on the anunnaki either possessing or becoming animals that can talk?

I could apply that to many series (and maybe an original one of my own creation)

I know some in the modern day have said humans were genetically engineered from apes to make more efficient slave labor. I also recall reading one intriguing claim that the Grey aliens were actually terrestrial made out of a mix of dolphin and human DNA by the same aliens that made humanity (and part of why the Greys need to continue to collect human genes for themselves), the dolphin sonic (echolocation) ability to stun (at least confuse) sharks and the like being how Greys would stun humans they kidnap. I remember being fascinated with the concept when I came across it over 20 years ago.

Some correspond the many pantheons of gods around the world with these aliens, many of whom took the form of animals. There are also many beings of folklore that were animals or took the form of animals (or had some animal feature like a cow tail), especially for foxes (again, ALL OVER the world, with the lore surprisingly consistent in many ways, more so than vampires).

It's arguable that this includes cats (I'm including talking cats in stories like Puss in Boots in addition to other faerie tales around the world, and shapeshifting cats also around the world) even more than wolves (but it's pretty close--though maybe not if you exclude those who change into wolves via a magical wolf skin rather than wolves that talk or take on human form). Bears seem common. I'm surprised snakes are relatively rare given how they're good symbols of transformation.

But Sumerian and Babylonian mythology has never been my focus (despite some interesting ideas about Sumerian language that have intrigued me), and it's been 20 years since I looked at any conspiracy or UFO or new age lore regarding it so my memory is too vague.

An entertainment theorist mentions that they were part of a remake for Scooby Doo which said that a movie (fiction, presumably for pure entertainment) claimed the Anunnaki came to Earth every few thousand years, and having no form, would possess animals that could then talk, with some limited ability for its descendants to talk (for anyone who wants to see it, you can do so here ).

I ask this for information, curiosity, and as much about the fictional trope as much as the contemporary to ancient folklore and myths. I don't intend to tell anyone they're wrong for believing what they do here, but I'm not going to take rants over their beliefs well either. Hopefully this can be a civilized discussion. And if it is, it might even get people to look into the real lore on their own.

(I would myself, but the ad-pocalypse, even with ad blockers, plus the new algorithms to enable that, with a lot of sham sites that pad it with repeating paragraphs to keep people there while ads refresh, have about made me swear off internet research anymore. I've become disillusioned with the public library as well, though I'll still use it from time to time.)
