I did a couple songs earlier today. I hope at some point that some other folks also join in. A note about the below songs. My equipment is like medium-low quality. I have a Samson Meteor mic and an older version of Audacity, and I'm a newbie at mixing, producing, etc. With those caveats in mind. The first one is dedicated to my partner and is appropriately Elvis Presley's Blue Christmas: http://drive.google.com/file/d/1K4jIskwrkqBXl8HfXuujy_2zoJFG9tVE/view?usp=sharing The second one is an Acapulco version of The Beatles Something. I bought a karaoke version of it to mix it with, but the timing was WAY off between the original studio recorded version and the karaoke version and it would take (me) awhile to line up well. http://drive.google.com/file/d/1U-vAsLXBbcdX2Ry5AYmRVDvMOohKp0EP/view?usp=sharing And this one is an original; my dad wrote it, and its called Ballad of Starman. This song means a lot to me on some deeper levels. (also Acapulco) : http://drive.google.com/file/d/13vDJo-6U0XJDfGgyc0wnbwXl-8khdfrw/view?usp=sharing IP: Logged |

Nice idea for a thread! I don't have any recording equipment but from time to time I record stuff we sing in my choir on vocaroo just to hear what I sound like. I usually don't record whole songs, just bits an pieces. Mostly the quality is crappy because my laptop mic is really inconsistent, but I have some recordings that are ok. Here is a short one that I think turned out quite nice: http://voca.ro/1ad94cQUh2WG IP: Logged |

Actually, that sounds pretty good for a laptop mic, Nadja--you must have a nice laptop. You have quite a nice sounding voice, definitely very Libra Rising with Venus in Taurus. Can you translate the words for us? IP: Logged |

My mic is stupidly sensitive btw, I have it almost on the very lowest gain level on all these, and when I sing louder, it still distorts some (I also move the mic further back during those loud parts). My housemate has a better system, so I might try working with him some in the future. IP: Logged |

Let's just say that the mic has some good days and a lot of really really bad days. And thank you! What I'm singing there is the beginning of a Moomin song (from the literary works about the Moomins by Tove Jansson). It's kind of hard to translate but it's about a minor character called Misan, or Misabel I think in the English version. She is miserable and has always been miserable, in fact her mother was Miserable and her father Misery... and yet it isn't so bad, it's actually quite nice to sink into mild melancholy. IP: Logged |

Ah, I hear you on that. Well hopefully your laptop gets better at "behaving" consistently. Oh, thank you for the run down on that song. As someone with Capricorn as their strongest Sign and Celtic has their strongest ancestry/genetic pattern, I'm quite familiar with melancholy...and one might also say, and the infinite sadness... But yeah, I do have a soft spot for melancholy music. But I also like happy/joyous songs, passionate and alive songs, etc, but perhaps gravitate most to the somewhat blue type of songs. IP: Logged |

Thank you very much, PlutoWasHere. I'm hoping I can try some more professional equipment, and with someone who knows what they are doing, in the future. I already realized I had made a mistake on Audacity. Those first two songs, I stupidly used the get rid of clicks (and pops) feature wrongly, by applying it to the whole song, when you're only supposed to highlight the parts where you actually hear clicks and/or pops. No idea what that would do, but que cera, cera at this point I suppose. IP: Logged |

I'm somewhat surprised by that Teasel since you have fairly highlighted Taurus (especially when you consider the close cusping of your Sun and Moon with same), and then your Venus Moon conjunction. I'm willing to bet you have a better voice than you give yourself credit for. Also, you probably just need to be/feel more comfortable with it. It's hard to sing well when you're nervous, stressed, or the like. IP: Logged |

Hi DualGemV2, I have not. This is the first time that I have heard of it, actually. I'll look into it some more. Thank you for mentioning it. Cool about the Audacity. I think it's a pretty cool program for being free, but I was talking to my housemate/tenant and telling him what I have and use, and I was a bit taken back when he said, "yeah, I started on Audacity" with the sense that he left it in the dust for much greater/bigger horizons.
