John Boehner hits President Obama for 'enemies'
By MIKE ALLEN | 11/1/10 7:35 AM EDT Updated: 11/1/10 8:03 AM EDT

House Republican Leader John Boehner plans to hammer President Obama during an election-eve rally on Monday night, for his use of the word “enemies” during an interview with Univision radio that got huge play in the conservative blogosphere.

The president said: “If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies, and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us’ — if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election — then I think it’s going to be harder. And that’s why I think it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2nd.”

In remarks prepared for delivery to a rally in Cincinnati with Rob Portman, the GOP nominee for Senate in Ohio, and John Kasich, the GOP nominee for Ohio governor, Boehner says:

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a president in the White House who referred to Americans who disagree with him as ‘our enemies.’ Think about that. He actually used that word. When Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush used the word ‘enemy,’ they reserved it for global terrorists and foreign dictators — enemies of the United States. Enemies of freedom. Enemies of our country.

“Today, sadly, we have president who uses the word ‘enemy’ for fellow Americans — fellow citizens. He uses it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government — people speaking out for a smaller, more accountable government that respects freedom and allows small businesses to create jobs. Mr. President, there's a word for people who have the audacity to speak up in defense of freedom, the Constitution, and the values of limited government that made our country great. We don't call them ‘enemies.’ We call them ‘patriots.’”

good job boehner. misread what was said and then misinterpret what you read! obama was referring to the anti-immigration reform people as "enemies" of the latinos, not of himself...but hey, pick a word, any word, and create a fantasy agenda out of it! typical of the man, i might say.

O'Bomber said what he said...and what he said cannot be defended by any reasonable person.

perhaps but what boehner said was not a repetition of what obama said but a twisted interpretation to suit his own ends, not to serve the truth. and i reckon you know it too.

It was O'Bomber who attempted to put the word enemies in the mouths of Latinos katatonic...oh, and also suggest enemies should be punished.

"“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies........."

How unfortunate O'Bomber was talking about Americans as enemies.

The airhead twit shouldn't be anywhere near the levers of power at any level of government; let alone in the White House of the United States.

i wonder why anyone would consider your lot enemies jwhop? when you vowed to bring down the murderous commie ******** before they even got into office? when every mention of obama's name is conjoined with palpable loathing; when since newly elected he has faced slander, disrespect and outright mutiny?

enemies? who would believe it? when you and yours have done everything from accusing him of being a lying foreigner, a racist nigger, a commie idiot, you fill in the blanks okay?

don't come all shocked and disapproving that you got called what you are. have fun at the polls.

Wait, I'm so confused now. Is it right to head out to "punish our enemies" now? Is it my enemies and everyone's enemies, or just these particular enemies at this particular time? Is it okay because the language is metaphorical as opposed to actually, physically punishing them?

The way that reads, all Latinos are sheep. We all think alike, believe alike, will vote alike, etc. There are many Latinos who do not support this particular brand of Democratic immigration idealization.

Are we enemies then to our own people if we disagree with this agenda?

Crap, now I need to go through a list of my fellow Latinos, and see which ones are my friends and which ones are my enemies based on their politics.
