I was just speaking of Ron Paul to DL....

Ron Paul slams Boston police. Has he gone too far?
Ron Paul, in a posting on the website of a libertarian activist, accused US law enforcement of 'a military-style occupation of an American city' in its response to the Boston bombing.

quote:
Former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul has slammed US law enforcement for responding to the Boston Marathon bombing with “police state tactics.”

In a post on the website of libertarian activist Lew Rockwell, Mr. Paul said Monday that the governmental reaction to the tragic explosions was worse than the attack itself. The forced lockdown of much of the Boston area, police riding armored vehicles through the streets, and door-to-door searches without warrants were all reminiscent of a military coup or martial law, Paul added.

“The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city,” according to Paul.

No, he makes valid points worthy of consideration. And I personally prefer a police who see themselves as part of the community rather than above it and acting like peace keepers than an occupying army.

I have my disagreements with Ron Paul but this just gets a nod and a shrug from me.

Ron Paul is right, in my humble opinion.
He does stand up and will be counted, which I respect. Some people are so covert, they will never stand up in a direct way. They just make lots of noise from the background. I have no respect for that. He is a straight shooter and that is a real mensch, as we Jews say

I have to admit my gut reaction was basically the same as his...admittedly they didn't know what might be thrown at them and i salute them for not killing more bystanders than suspects (like lapd w/dorner)...but i've said plenty already about this...

As always, yes, Ron Paul went too far. But frankly what else is new. It's time for Ron Paul to get a new hobby.

ehm...

i think its always important to pass criticism against such thing for it to not be the norm so a city wont be on lockdown anytime someone farted.

but in the end it was the most efficient way (considering the situation) and i personally do not think other ways would be as efficient.

it happens here especially at cities across the borders (like ariel)... when a terrorist threat comes the sity is shut down to prevent casualties and to identify the threat at utmost effciency.

I know there was much talk about the lock down here. Rather forced or voluntary. The idea of a search in a private home without a warrant is a dichotomy for me. The safty of the citizens are paramount yet the privacy of the home is such as well.

I would have voluntarily allowed the search. If it was forced on me, not so much.
