There have been numerous complaints about the new marketplace for the Affordable Care Act.

HealthCare.gov lets you compare health care insurance by helping you understand your options. But less than a week into the launch, the government has since admitted that its site is flawed, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Here's a quick list of some of the problems:

There's no clear description of what the Affordable Care Act is, and why you should enroll.

Many people have been locked out of the Web site.

Just hours after it launched, the site crashed.

The "Help" options are lacking. You may be forced to wait 30 minutes to speak with someone over the phone. If you use the website, you may experience some difficulties with the live chat.

The function to "chat" with someone for help on the site was described by Slate as "Kafkaesque" because it's so ineffective.

The application process can be tedious. Some users say it takes a while and is filled with too many data entry prompts.

There are a slew of technical issues. Users have complained about having issues creating an account, as well as a bunch of page errors that offer little or no explanation at all.

Meanwhile, there are all kinds of straight-up awkward aspects relating to design.
The wording isn't always totally clear. Should you click "Apply Now" or "Start Here"?

Have you ever applied for insurance, Randall? Even with one company, let alone try to decide between several?

The reason for the Oct opening was to give the system time to get up to speed by Jan. And no, without traffic all the problems cannot be predicted.

As the webmaster, you have dealt with countless crashes and need for ongoing improvements. The fact that people aren't FORCED to come here doesn't leave them any less frustrated when trying to connect on off days.

None of us point at you as an incompetent socialist boob because you have tech and format issues. It's part of the process.

A lot of that article is nonsense. First, the site doesn't call for a full scale description of what the ACA is. The website is obviously a marketplace for health insurance. There shouldn't be any trouble understanding that.

Attempting to criticize whether to "Start Now," or "Apply Here," isn't the tough choice they're trying to make it out to be. The screenshot says, "The Health Insurance Marketplace is Open! Enroll now in a plan that covers essential benefits, pre-existing conditions, and more. Plus, see if you'll qualify for lower costs." This is followed by the rather obviously understood "Apply Now" button. Then, it says, "Want to learn more first?" followed by the once again obviously understood, "Start Here."

There's no question whatsoever about what to do given the context of the buttons: you can either move straight to finding a policy, or you can learn a little more first. You'd have to be intellectually incapable not to understand such each things.

Then there's a criticism of the carousel, which cites unnamed tests as "proving" that people don't interact with them. I've interacted with carousels. Yahoo, Comcast, Aol, and others use carousels on their homepages for news. I think it's a leap to claim people miss out on content simply because a carousel exists.

Sitemap is supposedly useless according to this article, but I see the things I would be interested in if I were to land on that page. It appears functional.

I have to go get lunch now, but, in general, this article's a bunch of nonsense. Any mentally capable person shouldn't have much trouble understanding it.

"None of us point at you as an incompetent socialist boob because you have tech and format issues. It's part of the process."...Catalina/katatonic

I covered this remark before but perhaps you had your blinders on and your earplugs in.

This site is free and voluntary. You don't have to pay or even subscribe.

O'BomberCare is mandatory and expensive, costing taxpayers 3 TRILLION DOLLARS over the next 10 years...not counting the skyrocketing premiums Americans are staring straight in the face for O'Bomber's Abomination.

Let's vote Randall 3 TRILLION DOLLARS and I'd be willing to bet this site never goes down.

You'll get more out of LindaLand than you'll ever get out of O'Bomber's Abomination.

Let's vote!

"I have to go get lunch now, but, in general, this article's a bunch of nonsense. Any mentally capable person shouldn't have much trouble understanding it."...acoustic

Really? Well thanks for the admission that demoscats are not mentally capable. Demoscats are mostly the ones going to the exchange sites to get their "free health insurance" and hitting brick walls.

Even members of the (mentally incapable) drooling O'Bomber press can't get on and navigate on the sites.

It was not "Democrats" that wrote the stupid article, though. Nice try at being clever, but I am able to separate the spin from the truth.

People "hitting brick walls" in their attempts to access the site are not indicative of the kind of stupidity you'd have to have to be unable to understand the site in the ways enumerated in that article.

So Carney admits they don't know how many enrollments to O'BomberCare have occured. Just like I said, they don't know and all the bloviating about exchange site visitors taking down the exchanges is just more hot air from the con artists.

Carney Skirts Question About Enrollment Numbers
Andrew Johnson October 7, 2013

Jay Carney told reporters that the White House still doesn’t know the number of enrollees in the Obamacare marketplace exchanges after going live almost a week ago, and that they shouldn’t expect the information for about a month.

“When it comes to enrollment data — I want to be clear about this — we will release data on regular monthly intervals,” Carney said, which is the frequency in which Massachusetts and Medicare Part D release information. “This is an aggregation process, and we’re not going to release data on an hourly, daily, or weekly basis.”

When pressed by reporters about how the administration could know the number of online visitors to the websites but not the number of those who have enrolled, Carney said the administration used the former to explain why the Healthcare.gov’s many glitches in the wake of last week’s rollout.****(exactly, they lied)****

I don't see any article here acoustic. I just see you doing your usual blithering, blathering, bloviating and bullshiiting routine.

Are you alleging you didn't say..."I have to go get lunch now, but, in general, this article's a bunch of nonsense. Any mentally capable person shouldn't have much trouble understanding it."

Or, are you saying the article writer had to go to lunch?

Careful acoustic, you're confusing yourself. But don't worry acoustic, you never get near any "truth".

Did you not notice the ARTICLE the thread opens with? Perhaps you were too busy trying to dredge up some cardinal sin Acoustic committed more tham 5 years ago, ie, talking to people he could relate to instead of you? I'm sure you hsve never vented to friends...

And, no, i didn't miss your totally irrelevant point about free forums versus the exchange site. Because no amount of money guarantees performance on the web 100%.

This is the comment I commented on, and....it was acoustic who said it, not the article. Further, acoustic's implication is that if visitors can't successfully navigate the exchange sites then...they must not be mentally capable.

I appreciate the straightforward reply jwhop, but you made it sound like he was referring to a nonexistent article. I don't think he was saying people were stupid for hitting thise "brick walls" but it's stupid to say that frustrating site problems are because the builders are stupid.

AG thought the author was being obtuse.

Let's be reasonable for a minute and admit that new things usually take getting used to. A new job csn make one feel like an idiot but that's just because you havrn't readjusted your mindset or learned new skills.

Many huge companies, even banks - certainly not free entertainment - have server issues, errors, and unanswered phones. There are 6 months for people to find their way around and the webmasters to fix the "issues".

It is simplistic (and opportunistic) to blame such mashups on either Obama(not a techie!) or socialism! I'm sure Putin has great technology and I KNOW that Chase messes up frequently

Oh yeah?

SNAFU is what happens when you appoint your head up their as$es political cronies and campaign supporters to run the O'Bomber Abomination exchange sites.

Stewart to Sebelius on health care law “Am I a stupid man?”

"As the secretary sat down to begin the segment, Stewart opened a laptop on his desk. “I’m going to attempt to download every movie ever made, and you’re going to try to sign up for Obamacare, and we’ll see which happens first."

When asked how many individuals had signed up for insurance so far, Sebelius admitted, “I can’t tell you, because I don’t know...

“If I’m an individual that doesn’t want this, it would be hard for me to look at a big business getting a waiver," Stewart said. "I would feel like you are favoring big business because they lobbied you ... but you’re not allowing individuals that same courtesy.”

Sebelius denied that was the case, but danced around answering the question directly, sticking instead to talking points.

After pressing her further on the issue to no avail, a somewhat exasperated Stewart finally smiled and asked, “Am I a stupid man?”
