Real-estate magnate Donald Trump is on a roll. And three-plus weeks into his presidential campaign, he doesn't seem to be slowing down.

Not even a phone call from the leader of the national Republican Party — reportedly asking the presidential candidate to "tone it down" when it comes to his crusade against illegal immigration — has had much of an effect.

Trump's campaign announced Friday that he would meet with "families with victims of illegal immigrants" to discuss their tragedies. The next day, he headed to Arizona, where his campaign said an "overwhelming response" led to the venue being changed "to accommodate the thousands of people expected to attend."

The Trump campaign is a phenomenon rarely seen in presidential politics, boosted by his celebrity status, scorched-earth approach to his party rivals, and unfiltered self-promotion. Cable news channels have dedicated a seemingly endless amount of segments to Trump's comments. News websites have relentlessly covered every Trump tweet, outburst, and interview. Almost every single presidential candidate — Republican and Democrat — has either been willing or forced to respond to his statements.

And all this appears to be working for Trump so far: The real-estate developer surged into first place in at least two polls this week.

In a Economist/YouGov poll released Thursday, Trump holds 15% of the Republican vote nationally — ahead of former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida (11%). But the good news for Trump didn't stop there.

"Trump looks even better as a candidate this week when Republicans are asked for their second choice," YouGov's Kathy Frankovic wrote along with the results. "When they are, Trump extends his lead. One in four Republicans who are registered to vote say he is their first or second choice."

A new Public Policy Polling survey of North Carolina published Wednesday also placed Trump ahead of the GOP pack among GOP voters in the Tar Heel state. In that poll, Trump led Bush 16% to 12%.

"Trump's favorability rating in North Carolina is 55/32, much higher than we were finding in national polls prior to his entry into the race," PPP director Tom Jensen said. "Trump's really caught fire with voters on the far right."

Trump's position atop the polls, however, may be a bit of an illusion. Two polling experts previously told Business Insider that his support could simply be a byproduct of his high name recognition: Trump is a national figure thanks in part to his luxury brands and his reality-television show, "The Apprentice."

"This year, with close to 20 candidates expected to enter the race, the threshold for looking like a top-tier contender is quite low — even 10% of GOP primary voters is enough," Princeton University polling expert Sam Wang said earlier this month. "We don't know whether his ceiling is greater than 50% of GOP voters ... or more like 25% of GOP voters."

On the other hand, perhaps Trump's ceiling could rise: The never-ending media attention might soften his image as a grandstander with the Republican base, which is strongly opposed to illegal immigration and attempts to reform the nation's immigration system that include a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

Several right-leaning outlets like Fox News and Breitbart have given him particularly favorable coverage, and they have outsize influence on the GOP primary electorate.

Regardless, it's clear that for now, the 2016 presidential race is all about Trump.

The media firestorm started last week after a backlash bubbled up against controversial comments he made while raging about illegal immigration during his June 16 campaign kickoff speech. Many people, including rival GOP candidates, labeled his remarks derogatory toward immigrants. Trump's supporters say he was simply telling the truth about criminals crossing the US border.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best," Trump said in his speech. "They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

A growing number of businesses and individuals since cut ties with Trump, including: major TV networks refusing to carry his upcoming Miss USA pageant; Macy's announcing it would no longer sell its Trump products; the PGA of America relocating a tournament away from one of his golf courses; and much more. Even a mattress company said it would stop selling its Trump products.

For his part, Trump appears to love all the attention and has agreed to interview after interview to further blast undocumented immigrants — even with reporters who he likely knew would challenge him. One particularly combative interview came Wednesday, when he sat down with NBC News, whose parent company he fiercely berated over the Miss USA spat.

After NBC's Katy Tur questioned Trump's argument linking violent crime to illegal immigration, he told her she should be better informed.

"Don't be naive. You're a very naive person," he said.

When Tur stumbled while referencing some statistics to bolster her point, Trump mocked her inability to get the question out.

"Try getting it out. Try getting it out. I mean, I don't know if you're going to put this on television. But you don't even know what you're talking about. Try getting it out, go ahead," he said.

As far as the rest of the candidates are concerned, Trump is a mixed bag. Some of the Republicans — notably former New York Gov. George Pataki (R) and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) — have tried to use the Trump controversy to elevate their own standing in the race. On the flip side, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) strongly defended Trump.

And at least one candidate is tired of all the Trump talk.

"I've already stated my views about Donald Trump," Bush said Wednesday when asked about the real-estate developer. "I'm done. I'm through."

How about that? $50 for free tickets! Nah, no one's interested in what Donald Trump has to say!

Scalping Frenzy Erupts For Donald Trump And Sheriff Joe Free Event
Jul 10, 2015

Excerpted from Vocativ: Here’s how much pent-up demand there is to see the twin bill of Donald Trump and Sheriff Joe Arpaio speaking about illegal immigration this weekend: First the free event had to be moved to a bigger venue to accommodate the interest, but apparently that wasn’t enough. Now, there’s a scalping frenzy, with tickets going for $50 on Craigslist.

Trump’s speech with America’s self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff” initially was going to be held at the Arizona Biltmore resort in Phoenix. At the time, Trump’s campaign only expected about 1,000 people to attend the free event. Tickets, however, were gone within hours and organizers were forced to move the speech to a larger venue at the Phoenix Convention Center, where it again sold out almost immediately. As of Friday morning, organizers expected 5,000 people to attend the event, with hundreds more on a waiting list hoping to get in.

Now tickets are popping up on Craigslist, among other classified-ad sites, where the going rate is $50.

I confess I haven`t figured out the Republicans strategy using Trump as a mouthpiece but it`s sure bound to backfire .

The hall in Phoenix holds about 4200 people. Trump claims there were "15 or 20,000" there because Phoenix didnt want people expiring in the heat.

Unfortunately the ticket counters and fire dept deny his claim. The counted heads in the hall were 4299...apparently Drumpf doesnt know what 15000 looks like, but refuses to believe the head count by professionals..how could Bernie Sanders field a bigger audience than the biggest head in show biz?

Bullshiiite!

Trump never claimed there were 15,000 people INSIDE THE CONVENTION CENTER!

Just more crap from the excrement spreaders. Why not, it's all they have!

There was a very large group of Trump supporters outside the convention center who couldn't get tickets...in addition to the 4,200 inside!

In the meantime, you could fit the "crowds" who show up to see Hillary in a phone booth!

Bernie Sanders, the 60's communist radical is gaining fast on Hillary!

Funny that when a far left site runs a hit piece on TRUMP, most of their own readers side with TRUMP

It didn't help the leftist loons at MSN when they attempted to label TRUMP a racist who was denigrating Latinos...when TRUMP made it crystal clear he was talking about ILLEGAL ALIENS and particularily CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS. Guess the geniuses at MSN missed that!

Trump is the only one who has any gonads to speak the truth. The free ride is over. if you are "illegal" then the gravy boat will be ending soon. He has no problem with any others-just "illegals" but everyone wants to distort the statement.

Maybe one day you will realize that it's not important to have a candidate who says "what you want to hear", and your version of truth" , "anyone can do that, Sara Palin did that, and see how that worked out for you! You need a candidate who tells you REAL truth and the truth is this country is a melting pot and many people , the millennials, whites, blacks, latinos, everyone are tired of racism and bigotry and want to get along. you can be against illegal immigration without being mean spirited insulting people calling them names, just because this idiot trump is saying stuff to fool you ultraconservatives doesn't mean it's the " truth" or it will get you anywhere or makes you win in a diverse country, keep dreaming, this just a " truth" in your neocon la la land.

Probably a lot less than the defense contractors paid Bush Bin Lyin and his criminal gang -led by President Cheney to star a phony war in Iraq. Iy costs 2l.22 trillion to destroy Iraq than rebuild it. They could have used that money for roads and briges in the U.S. It also cost the lives of 4000+ soldiers. But this is what stupid repukes and teanuts do. Your statement makes no sense, the corporations control the republicans and they want the illegals to work for slave wages.

I watched the TRUMP speech from Phoenix and I don't remember TRUMP saying there's 15,000 supporters/people in the convention center. There were a lot of people in there, as far as I could see...all of then standing...no chairs. So, perhaps it was over capacity. Perhaps not.

Yeah juni, 4 or 6 Mexican agents got shown the door when they attempted to disrupt TRUMP'S speech.

You have to know Trump is doing something right when the ball-less, testosterone starved Republican establishment is moving heaven and earth to shut Trump up; them and the far left loons who are all for open borders and the invasion of America by illegal aliens.

The whining, screeching, howling and shrieking against Trump Truth was supposed to make Trump bow his head obediently, shut the hell up and sit down.

If you looked at Trump's chart, you know why that's not going to happen.

Lol. The Presidential reality show....some don't realize its scripted. Trump has Algol at the MC and nothing in the 6h..
(Likely to lose his head and not much instinct to service, underlined by regulus on the AC ..he sees himself as King...these things are all obvious even to those of us who seldom notice him)

But people dropping him is their prerogative and doesnt indicate any attempt to beat him down..just to not be party to his bombast.

Yep, popcorn time.

Not a big fan of asteroid astrology myself.

Lol...so the knight in white satin is pals with the devilish duo, eh?

Finally, there's a Republican willing to blow the lid of this whole Donald Trump running for presidentbusiness. Meet Republican House member Carlos Curbelo (FL), a Jeb Bush supporter who thinks that Donald Trump is a plant sent by the Democratic Party to foul up what would otherwise be a perfectly genteel and not-at-all batshit crazy Republican primary season.

In a radio interview, he suggested that Trump is “a phantom candidate recruited by the left to create this entire political circus.” And then he repeated the claim in a separate interview, saying “there’s a small possibility that this gentleman is a phantom candidate.”

“Mr. Trump has a close friendship with Bill and Hillary Clinton,” Curbelo said in the interview. “They were at his last wedding. He has contributed to the Clintons’ foundation. He has contributed to Mrs. Clinton’s Senate campaigns. All of this is very suspicious.”

I don't know. Until he can tie this to ACORN and the fake moon landings it still seems a little shaky.

Says he: Hillary is the worst Sec. of St ever

Who can argue that but on the heels of all the pandering and contributions to Clintons, , that smelled to high heaven and did she or Bill blink?

Yeah, businesses can make whatever decisions they wish to make AND their customers can make decisions based on what those businesses do!

Trump Supporters Cut Up Macy's Credit Cards After Store Severs Ties

Supporters of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump are cutting up their Macy's store credit cards in protest of the department store's decision to sever ties with the real estate mogul.

Trump Tweeted about it on July 10, and several news reports have followed.

I love that thousands of people are boycotting @Macys and cutting up credit cards. No guts no glory. This really backfired - love it!

1:08 AM - 11 Jul 2015

A Daily Mail story reports that about 30,000 customers have called the store to complain in the wake of the store's decision to stop selling Trump's clothing line. Trump's comments about immigration spurred the decision.

A quick spin through Macy's Facebook page revealed several messages from customers promising to boycott the store and cut up their store credit cards.

In his campaign announcement speech on June 16, Trump called out illegal immigrants coming from Mexico — and angered many people in doing so.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. ... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems to us," said Trump, who defended his comments last week. "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, some are good people!

"But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we're getting. And it only makes common sense. They're sending us not the right people. It's coming from more than Mexico. It's coming from all over South and Latin America, and it's coming probably from the Middle East. But we don't know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don't know what's happening. And it's got to stop and it's got to stop fast."

The comments ricocheted across the North American continent, with many people in the United States and Mexico criticizing him. Others have praised him, and he is now the GOP frontrunner in two national polls.

Lol two days ago he was tweeting that there were 10-15 thousand more people at his Phoenix talk than were actually there..pardon me if i don't take his tweet about"thousands" of Macy's cards being cut up too much to heart because several FB loudmouths are threatening to boycott Macy's. Nor a newspaper article that uses him as a source of facts about his brilliance

He is the perfect example of someone with dreadful insecurity constantly bragging about how great he is and how many people love him. And apparently gives money to any and every politician he might want on his side in the foreseeable future.
