No longer can government employees be compelled to pay union dues as a requirement of their employment. About damned time.

Supreme Court Ends Compulsory Public Sector Union Dues, 5-4
JOEL B. POLLAK
27 Jun 2018

The U.S. Supreme Court handed down its decision in Janus v. AFSCME on Wednesday, ruling 5-4 that public sector unions could no longer compel non-members to pay dues because it violated their First Amendment rights.

The decision is a major victory for free speech and for workers’ rights — and a major setback for public sector unions, who have emerged in recent decades as a powerful left-wing political force.

Mark Janus, the Illinois state employee who challenged compulsory dues, had been required to pay about $535 per year, even though he opposed his union’s positions on many issues in its collective bargaining....

Supreme Court hands devastating blow to unions that have funneled hundreds of millions of dollars into Democrat coffers
Thomas Lifson

One of the bedrock funding sources of the Democratic Party will see its resources severely curtailed, as the Supreme Court just handed down its decision in Janus v. The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. As a result, government workers no longer can be required to pay anything to unions that they have been required to join in the past.

In so doing, as the Wall Street Journal reported, the Court:

... overruled a 1977 precedent that had fueled the growth of public-sector unionization even as representation has withered in private industry. More than one-third of public employees are unionized, compared with just 6.5% of those in the private sector, according to a January report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In 2016 alone, teacher unions took $33.2 million out of members' paychecks and gave it to political candidates and parties, virtually all to the Democrats. AFSCME, the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, was in for $15.7 million, and the SEIU, the Service Employees International Union (which includes government and private employees), handed over a massive $39.4 million that its members had earned. Over the decades since President Nixon first authorized the unionization of federal employees, the total amounts to hundreds of millions of 2018 dollars, not even counting the value of donated hours of work offered almost exclusively to Democrats.....

Compelling Americans to join a union and pay union dues as a condition of employment has been going on for far too long.

Forcing people to contribute to unions who support far left lunatic politicians and leftist political causes they despise has now ended.

Massive Blow to “Big Club” – Supreme Court Strikes Down Forced Public-Sector Union Fees…
June 27, 2018
sundance

In a decision that holds massive up-front ramifications for Democrats, the Supreme Court ruled today (full pdf below) that non-union members cannot be forced to pay for union representation. This is a devastating blow to the Big Club political caucus.

The justices said in a 5-4 opinion that state government workers who choose not to join a union cannot be compelled to pay a share of union dues for covering the cost of negotiating contracts. This allows state union workers to withdraw funding for the political aspirations and objectives of union leadership who work against their interests.

At the top of the hierarchy, union executives, multinational corporate executives and K-Street lobbyists, work in synergy to maximize financial benefits for a select group of interests known as The Big Club. The corrupt operations carried out over the past four decades fuel the UniParty; which is comprised of both democrat and republican political apparatus. Today’s decision permits the removal of forced payments from the bottom of the Big Club pyramid scheme.

With an America-First independent voice in President Trump occupying the White House, the BIG CLUB already lost access to economic policy manipulation. Today’s supreme court decision means even more downstream consequences.

One of the significant consequences, that definitely will be avoided by media, is in the area of ongoing renegotiated U.S. trade deals. Without maximum financial payments the BIG CLUB will have less funding to purchase politicians and their votes. The BC will have less capability to use the legislative branch to defend their financial interests.....
