Lack of sunspots to bring record cold, warns NASA scientist
November 12, 2018
Robert

“It could happen in a matter of months,” says Martin Mlynczak of NASA’s Langley Research Center.

“The sun is entering one of the deepest Solar Minima of the Space Age,” wrote Dr Tony Phillips just six weeks ago, on 27 Sep 2018.............

Oh, but the Sun has nothing to do with climate--just our BBQ grills etc., do.

Climate contrarian uncovers scientific error, upends major ocean warming study
Joshua Emerson
November 13, 2018

Researchers with UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Princeton University recently walked back scientific findings published last month that showed oceans have been heating up dramatically faster than previously thought as a result of climate change.

Sorry bout the typo.. fixed now😉

You do realize that what is PC has changed, the government no longer supports the climate change science of yesteryear, and that argument has self-immolated?

These faux scientists say the same thing they always have--that humans cause warming.

Climate "science" hasn't adapted in decades, which is why it isn't science.

Face it. There are those among us who derive their living and personal status from predicting calamities.

For the Chicken Littles, Ducky Luckys, Goosey Looseys and the rest of the barnyard menagerie, the sky is always falling. It has to always be falling for them to maintain their positions and status.

Why Climate Change Isn't Science
Daniel G. Jones

Environmentalists first predicted impending climate disaster in the 1970s, but they didn’t call it global warming. Back then, it was “Global Cooling” that would end life on earth as we knew it. The smog of industrial pollutants was blocking out sunlight so severely, we were warned, that our planet would enter a new ice age unless we acted quickly. Magazine covers featured pictures of snowball earth.

In the eighties, we cleaned up our air, the threatened the ice age did not occur, and thousands of people with time on their hands and seeking purpose in life had discovered that they could make a career out of disaster prophecy. Thus, it was time for a new catastrophe: “Global Warming” Well, maybe not so new. Same villain: us and our machines. Same victim: our delicate planet earth. Same threat: the end of life as we know it. Only the predicted temperature had changed.

In the nineties, environmentalists switched their emphasis to “Climate Change” This was a marketing move. Global warming could credibly be blamed for warming, but climate change could be blamed for anything. If hurricanes increase one year, that’s evidence of climate change. If they decrease the next year, well, that’s climate change too. Droughts are caused by climate change, but so are exceptional rains. Warmer winters prove climate change, but so do colder winters. (Claiming that frigid temperatures are caused by global warming would sound ridiculous.) “Climate Change” was disaster gold. It couldn’t be disproved......

Lol. You think disaster politics started in the 20th c? And funnily you accuse "science" of standing stil while describing it as moving from phase to phase

So now the right are predicting cooling, as if that is better or less "convenient science" than warming. You'd better hope they're wrong ... homeless people have a tendency to freeze in ice ages, along with power lines, transport, and food supply.

Thanks, Randal, for the link update!!!

After watching it, while I understand the gist of it, and I think he brought some very good points, I don't feel I know enough about climatic science to form a solid opinion, nor do I have the time and inclination to fact check what he is saying.

But I do respect the fact that this man being interviewed is a respectable scientist with as many scientific credentials as those who are in the opposite camp who claim there is Global Warming. So obviously, not all Global Warming "deniers" - which is a pretty rude term to dismiss people who do not toe the party line on Global Warming- are stupid or uneducated.

Scientists, like Science, are not a monolithic entity. Any group of people has its various points of view. "Deniers" may be rude but so is the insistence that anyone who accepts climate change is a fanatic idiot. There are vested interests on both sides, as well as honest people. And on both sides there are people who think we can "fix" Nature.

"ONE OF the deepest solar minimums in the space age" - that would be about the last 60 years - is hardly likely to create an ice age. Just more hyperbole, from the opposite direction.

This puts the lie to your little youtube nutcase!

Global Warming Petition

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

This petition has been signed by over 31,000 American scientists.
...more that 9000 of whom hold PhDs in related fields.

The United States is very close to adopting an international agreement that would ration the use of energy and of technologies that depend upon coal, oil, and natural gas and some other organic compounds.

This treaty is, in our opinion, based upon flawed ideas. Research data on climate change do not show that human use of hydrocarbons is harmful. To the contrary, there is good evidence that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is environmentally helpful.

A review of the research literature concerning the environmental consequences of increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide leads to the conclusion that increases during the 20th Century have produced no deleterious effects upon global weather, climate, or temperature. Increased carbon dioxide has, however, markedly increased plant growth rates. Predictions of harmful climatic effects due to future increases in minor greenhouse gases like CO2 are in error and do not conform to current experimental knowledge.

How so, jwhop? Because you say so? Who are these private unnamed donors? Mssrs Rockefeller, Koch and Getty? Or Alias Smith and Jones?

ine (the OISM petition). This petition now appears to be signed by over 32,000 people with a BSc or higher qualification. The signatories agree with these statements:

Science graduates.. of whom there are millions who did not sign. Where did the petition find signers?

I agree with you that there are name calling on both sides, but to be fair, it really started many years ago from the left, attacking the intelligence and motivation of anyone who disagreed with global warming, claiming to have science and facts on its side.
.

The truth is that, scientists do not really know what is going on with the climate. They cannot be trusted to accurately predict what the weather will be like 1 or 2 months from now in any part of the world, let alone 50 years from now.
