I came across this and thought I'd share it on how some people are resilient.

quote:
So practice a power shift in focus. Temporarily step away from those moments that are bringing you down and focus on aspects of yourself that lift you up. Bless the things that life has given you, rather than cursing what you are lacking. And always find the laughter during tough times. This is what happy, successful, optimistic people know

And the two articles linked to were good, IMO, as well:

quote:
While you might think I’m nuts, and anyone witnessing my crazy antics might agree, at least I know I will be going home to my family or to a client meeting or making an important decision in a good mood. In fact, my energy level is cranked. Why? Because I am able to change my state of mind.

I go from a bad mood to a good one just by choosing to make a slight shift in my attitude. I choose to see the humor in a tough situation and allow myself the freedom to laugh. And I think this common sense success strategy needs to be embraced by people in all walks of life, personally and professionally.

Choosing to defuse a stressful situation with humor is the fastest way I know to bounce back and acquire the attitude you need to succeed, while also enjoying the process of getting there. I guess you could call me the Wizard of Laughter

I've done that in the worst of times...but it has caused me to develop a gallows humor that some find disturbing (though I think it's mostly disturbing to those who believe some form of "mention the devil and he will appear" or "if you think it, you cause it" though others just find it much easier to feel the pain than the humor as well).

quote:
I’m at a place right now where my philosophy about what’s important in my life has significantly shifted. Yes, I love what I do for a living. I always did and I always will. But I know far too many people who are so caught up in trying to make a living that they’ve forgotten what it’s like to live.
