I had quite a shock when I found that my mother’s Moon was conjunct the Asteroid Sado—-exact. It kind of made me freeze for a few weeks. I have unfrozen enough to talk about it. I did not talk to my mother and father for a year. The incident that made me stop was not a big one. It was a little one but it was like the marriage that breaks up because the guy does not squeeze the tooth paste from the bottom. At that moment, the relationship became clear and I knew that if I did not get away, I would never extricate myself. I have since reconciled but now I have more information. One of those pieces of info is her Sado conjunct her Libra Moon.

I call things straight out. I think truth is love and truth is health. I grew up in a house of lies, so I treasure truth as a dying man in the desert treasures water. Hence, I cannot mitigate the influence of the Asteroid Sado. It is a sadist. This would be true for a conjunction with the Moon, more than any other planet. The Moon is one’s deepest heart. What touches it, resonates very deeply with the person. If one is in a relationship with the native, it will resonate deeply with one, for better or worse.

With the Asteroid Sado, it is for the worst. You may think I am negative for saying this but what good does being in a relationship with a sadist do? At most, it would throw one into a depression or mental/emotional illness and one would hit bottom and find God. That sounds like what happened to me

At any rate, it is important not to mitigate the bad asteroids. In this politically correct society, one cannot call a spade a spade. One gets great criticism if one does. However, I think the root of emotional and mental illness is the refusal to face simple truths. They are not simple, if one will not face them. They grow to be behemoths and eat you up. That is why I am very honest in everything I do on my website and with my charts and my readings. I tell people, right out, what I feel and think. The human spirit seems to appreciate honesty. I can feel people breathe a sigh of relief that I am willing to put myself on the line. They, in turn, feel free to be honest.

Back to the subject at hand. Yes, I feel there are bad asteroids just as I feel there are bad things in life. In this politically correct society, the good is morphed into the bad and vice versa. However, the Bible is clear about good and bad and right and wrong. Deep in people’s spirits, they know this. That is why people respond to honesty. That is why people respond to love. Love is the language of the heart for all people

.I digressed again. The Asteroid Sado is sadism. Does that mean that this native is bad? NO. However, it means that this native will be sadistic until he can find God and truly merge the spiritual with the material. Until then, if you are in his sphere, he will be sadistic to you. A leopard cannot change it’s spots, nor a zebra it’s stripes. Such is the case with the charts, for better or worse, in my opinion.

The asteroid Sado was named after a place in Japan, not the Marquis de Sade.

While it certainly may indicate sadism in some charts, I think it is important to consider the reason for the name of an asteroid when developing astrological interpretations.

Sado was the island where state offenders were exiled, so I could go as far as "unfair punishment" in my interpretation.
But I agree, Sado -> sadism is pushing it.

I have this asteroid very prominent in my chart. Once I realized this and knowing my life n the pain and how it affected me, I became very interested in knowing if it's interp was indeed relating to sadism.
I've also researched quite a few ppl who have had abuse and it changed them in ways they seem unable to control. They became abusers, victims, martyrs, savior or extreme passive/aggressive and did things to destroy themselves or others as they attempt to push everyone away unconsciously in order to be alone and feel what they believe is all they deserve, to hurt!
To them nobody loves them...the only thing that is consistent and they can rely is their pain, its the only value they have known, it is how they identify themselves and feel alive....without it they are lost!

They all have a similar story, there's a pain so deep they can't break the cycle. They run to ppl who hurt them or they isolate themselves by mistreating others to validate what they feel about themselves ...that they are unloveable and unworthy of love and/or happiness.

Sometimes they don't even have any obvious reason for their behavior, they were just born with this darkness in them and don't know why. Maybe what happened has been repressed or maybe it's the souls wound and did not physically happened in their life, im not sure, but yet the pain is still there!

Sado is very active in many ppls charts....I doubt many ppl have a prominent association with the place, Sado, in a way that would make it show up in such type aspects to them personally!

I know there is no reason the place Sado, should sit on my AC and Pluto conjunction along with Asteroid Deprez
But as of yet, all these ppl do have a connection with disorder of being sadistic or self abusive in various ways....accepting it is the only way to change it!

Perhaps ppl who have it prominent but don't think it's about sadism or refuse to accept what it's potentially about, **some will have an attachment to the place or it could be a family name/nickname/a movie or book they write at some point in their life..etc**
The others who don't have the physical manifestation of Sado being prominent in their life might very well have it prominent emotionally....and perhaps their denial is part of their self abuse, being that it would be a refusal to help themselves.

Gabby, don't you have Venus conjunct Pluto conjunct your ascendant, conjunct Sado? The Venus/Pluto probably has more to do with your experiences than the presence of that one asteroid.

I've been doing my own research on Sado, and it's coming up a lot in soulmate pairings, particularly in hard aspect to Mars.

Why does there so often seem to be an allegation that someone is "in denial" or "refusing to accept" negative influences when one disagrees with someone else's astrological interpretation?

Surely I'm misunderstanding the intent of what is being said here.

Everyone has the capacity for sadism and other dark behaviors. I'm not in denial of or refusing to accept anything, particularly when it comes to my own behavior. I just don't think that a particular religion is the only way to avoid expressing those influences (although I'm sure it helps many people), or that they are determined by an asteroid named after a place in Japan.

Correlation in a few cases is not proof of anything.

What are you talking about? Venus/Pluto are 7-8 degrees apart, Pluto is 3 degree from my AC!
That's is not why things happened to me like they did and it's not why I was the way I was!
Pluto, yes, it had a lot to do with my experiences, but Venus? Seriously? Unless Venus turned to the dark side, id have to say NO!
This was not a Venus issue...it was abuse, it wasn't a lack of love or neglect or love/hate mind games...it was straight out sadistic abuse, no love involved, no passion either just very calculated, manipulating, quiet, slow, mind and body torturing abuse! That's sadistic!!

Sado explains a lot for me, that was what I experienced....so for me and my chart Sado is exactly what i said it is! Sorry if you disagree, your experiences have been different than mine!
Please don't tell me I'm wrong when it's obvious what it means in my chart....the interpretation for Sado on AC/Pluto is very straight forward!
I had sadistic abuse that ripped me to pieces and for many years it's all I knew and how I saw the world.
Others saw it to, I wasn't allowed to go places because of the bruises. I slept with my hands cupped around the head board and then he took a belt and belted my hands to my bed every night, and that wasn't the bad stuff!
As I grew up, all I knew was what I'd learned, so I treated myself in horrible ways for many years because I didn't realize what I was doing!
I was picked out of a crowd as someone that anyone could use and abuse.
I'd take it like a whipped puppy and apologize that what they were doing, hurt me. I felt I shouldn't complain, I didn't deserve to complain.
Somehow I learned my purpose in life was to be hurt.
I didn't even think I had the right to cry or acknowledge the hurt or the pain they inflicted...that was focusing to much on me, and that was wrong!
I felt guilt for feeling pain because I should not have, I just should have been able to quietly take it without making noise.
With my step dad, I would have got it worse if I made a noise or stumbled from the force of his hit. He'd smile and say oh, your going to cry, I'll give you something to cry about!!! Does that sound somewhat sadistic to you?

I became self destructive in a way that was very different, not your typical Pluto unless Pluto was retrograde....my Pluto is not retrograde.
I attribute the behavior patterns to Sado and the ways I was taught to think of myself by my sadistic step father . I learned a great deal about healing once I accepted the truth about self destructive patterns!

@Delilah423
The reason I said ppl are in denial is because many ppl are in denial...sorry, I wish it wasn't that way but its just the truth!

If Sado aspects in soulmate synastry it's possibly because love heals wounds...and that is wonderful for them!

This may be hard to explain. I think when we find an asteroid like Maniac, for example, and people say it means this or that BUT it works in the charts to show mania or bi-polar, the meaning is relevant.

To me, Sado fits here. I have seen it BE sadism in enough charts to believe that it will be in future charts.

One must learn the new asteroids by hands on chart usage, not googling things imo.

That is how I do it, anyone, and some people like it and some don't

I don't have to like or not like your way of reading charts, Ami, it's your way and I don't judge it.
More than that, I believe you when you tell me it works in your readings.
I love your vibe as a person, and your straightforward ways are definitely one of the things I appreciate most about you.
But I feel judged when you assume (wrongly) that I've just been "googling" Sado, as I happen to have a connection with the place. You speak from experience, please accept that others can do so too.

Thank you Dadoo dear

I was not referring to you here. I have certain people on here who consistently dog me on things and I was referring to them, although I won't name them.

I was kind of putting a caveat out there for those people.

We have had a wonderful fight free, peaceful time on LL for a few months and I want to keep it that way

This is a message board. You don't know me or anyone else who you may think "dogs" you (it would appear in this thread you're talking about me, although I suppose Page One is also a possibility). You are ascribing motives when you have no basis to know what my (or anyone else's) motives may be.

An opinion or experience that is different from yours does not mean anyone is attacking you, dogging you, criticizing you, trying to start a fight, or being other than peaceful.

Accusing unnamed people of such behavior and making statements like "One must learn the new asteroids by hands on chart usage, not googling things imo" (when you have absolutely no idea how the person with whom you seem to disagree developed their ideas and opinions) comes across as insulting, whether you intend it that way or not.

I've told you before I admire your knowledge and experience, I've learned (and continue to learn) from you, and I especially appreciate your ability to simplify complex ideas, but your continued insistence on alleging negative motives when someone offers a different perspective is grating and does not serve you well.

Huh. I've got SADO conjunct my SUN, 3°. He's got it square his, 3°, and we have a 1° conjunction with SATURN-SADO.

We're the least sadistic people I think you'd meet. However, we have both studied it extensively.

I just read right now about Cutting yourself Disorder and your thoughts on Sado really resemble the pain behind this disorder: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/cutting-yourself-disorder.html

just a few thoughts on the meaning and use of asteroids.
asteroids are subjective. one seeks meaning of an asteroid for one's psyche.
this is the important point.the history and actual meaning of an asteroid is not imortant, the subject connection is what make asteroids valid.

for instance that asteroid Lie is named after a ,Swedish diplomat. but here it turns out Mr. Lie was a double agent, so Lie lived a lie.

I feel sado in the same vein, if one connects it to sadomasochism, it is valid for that person.

another example is when choosing a named asteroid, when there is no exact name, then a asteroid with similar consonants can be used. gender does not matter, so for victor(not existent) one can use Victoria or Patrice for Patrick.

one can also pick names that remind one of the name one is looking for.
your boy friends name is not there, so one could use generic amore.

the connection with asteroids is not linear.

My Libra Moon is conjunct Pluto by 1.28 degrees, with Sado 1.15 degrees from Pluto. Also BML is conjunct Sado by .06, and these are all in the 8th house. I am in no way sadistic, nor have I ever been even in childhood. I never had to overcome any dark urges to hurt others or animals, physically or verbally. I actually have 5 planets in my 8th, and 3 planets in Scorpio. If anything, I'm someone that cannot stand idly by when I see someone being hurt or abused in any way. I've gotten involved when I saw a man hit his girlfriend, while 3 men turned a blind eye to it. I always stood up for people being bullied, and I don't even kill bugs.

I think that this aspect allows me to understand the complex psychology that motivates people to do horrible things to others. I could've been a criminal profiler, because I have an inherent understanding of people and I am highly intuitive and empathetic. When I see crimes on the news, I know who committed the crime, what their motive was, and what the victim experienced. I'm spot on in nearly every case. Maybe I understand the darker sides of the human psyche, but it doesn't mean I'm a sadistic person.

Ami, I think that you are too black and white when it comes to astrology and to people. Just because you know one person with an aspect, you cannot judge everyone with that aspect. Something in your synastry could be causing you to not be compatible. I never look at anything as entirely good or evil, it's far too simplistic. Like saying all Libra Moons are cold hearted, because you had that experience. I've experienced Cancer Moons that are so wrapped up in their own emotions, it never occurs to them that others have feelings too. If anything, my Libra Moon allows me to always see things from different points of view when emotions are involved. I'm very compassionate and understanding.

I'm not very active on LL, but I think my conduct on here shows that I'm respectful to everyone, even if I completely disagree with them. This is how I treat everyone whether they are right in front of me, or on the other side of a computer screen. The same cannot be said of everyone on LL, including you at times. I have noticed that you don't involve yourself in as many disagreements, but there was a time you were so defensive that you were incredibly contentious if anyone didn't agree with you. I think you realized your own role in these arguments, and now you are choosing to take the high road rather than get involved. I mention this because if I was a sadist, I think that would show in how I treat others here on LL.

I'm far from sadistic. It concerns me because many that are just getting into astrology read your articles, and might get the wrong idea. I learned a lot from you when I first got into astrology, but I quickly realized that it's not so black and white. Aspects can go either way.

I'm like Bluejay above, except my SUN is there, 2°.

I was an actual 'profiler' (criminologist) for a time. I've got the training, some experience, and have always had 'the knack', as they say. You're born with it, or you're not.

Never been sadistic. Am deeply driven to achieve justice for those who are so victimised.

It's all in my 2H. (Except for the 3H MOON/URA and MERC in SCO, of course.)

Not much in 8H, I confess, but it's ruled by my 0° SAG MARS and contains PALLAS at 29° Aries, RX. Always wondered a bit on that one. Might contribute to my innate ability in this area, as well as decision to pursue such a career option.

Ami,

I know a person who has a tight Moon-Sado conjunction (about 1 degree), and also Moon-Dejanira and Sado-Dejanira conjunction. The conjunctions happen in Cancer in the 11th house. This person was emotionally and physically abused by the mother and I noticed he has sadistic tendencies too, although I think he's not aware of it, it's like an unconscious behavior. I don't know exactly how the Sado-Dejanira conjunction is played in his life but it seems to me it represents both sides of his story: the victim and the abuser. This guy also has an exact Dejanira-Venus opposition (Venus in the 5th) and also Sado and the Moon are in opposition to Venus. I'm not an Astrologer so I just suppose things. With the little I know about Astrology, I think he refuses to be a victim again in his life, a victim of other women, love partners (Venus) as he was a victim of his mother (the Moon). Also it seems to me he projects the intense anger he feels for his mother towards other women he gets romantically involved with (Sado-Venus opposition). What do you think?
