I was looking in the mirror tonight, and I have quite a few white hair strands popping up at the top of my head. Which is strange, considering I'm only 18 and have dark brown hair that's nearly black. I've always had one or two strands, but lately, they've been multiplying- I'd say there's about eight now. I know men sometimes go prematurely white/grey... I guess it can happen to women too? I'm probably over-reacting, it's probably just nothing, but I was curious to see if anyone might have any thoughts on why I have these silly little rebel hair strands .IP: Logged |

How early did your family members get greys? it is mostly genetic, but can also come from stress or other environmental factors...anyway, I am sure you don't want to hear this since you are 18- but I think really dark hair with white streaks looks VERY cool. I have a couple of friends who have this- and others who have dyed their hair to get it. MK IP: Logged |

hey everlongi've been trying to figure out the same!! coz even i have been noticing white hair!!!...but i think mine are due to stress or hair colour....sometimes the ammonia in hair colour strips your hair of its natural colour....so if u have been streaking/ colouring your hair it cud be dat .....stress can also do a lot of damage...i realised that my health went down in a big way due to stress and i have been trying ever since to destress!!!! of course sometimes you cant help it but u shud try to do things that make you happy/ stressfree.... i'm fom india, and i've noticed that south indians have jet black hair....some of them start goin grey when they are 60 or something!!!!..i think it might have something to do with them having a lot of coconut in their diet....you cud try it!!!! and of course also any lack of vitamins(i think i read lack of vit b somewher) and iron could be the reason... I have noticed a correlation between rough hair and graying of hair. make sure you r taking enough of iron, calcium and protein in your diet, if not, consider supplements. massage your head frequently to increase blood circulation and secretion of natural oils. wash it with mild shampoo...johnson's baby shampoo is good. and use conditioner !!

I don't know if any of my other family members had white hairs at my age, most of my immediate family is deceased or unreachable- but, I think it might be stress? I've never died my hair, I use conditioner, I eat healthy and get most of my vitamins/minerals. But lately I had a lot of schoolwork, have a job, and was playing a sport all at the same time, so I was stretching myself a bit thin. IP: Logged |
