I'm wishing to make my voice it's best potential. Does anyone know of herbs, foods, drinks or crystals to aid in a healthy voice?Coffee is out, so are most spices. I am also interested to learn which foods to avoid. I'm going to research but thought there might be much wisdom here- so I'm asking here. Any information is appreciated! IP: Logged |

Sweets, chocolates, anything that contains too much sugar, my voice always sounds weird right after I eat too much of it. Tea and warm water seem to be beneficial for mine, they kind of open up my voice, like I'm not withholding anything.IP: Logged |

Thank for the reply. Makes total sense and it supports a healthy body for me to watch my sugar intake. Do you think citrus is abrasive to the vocal chords?

^ Depends, more than needed gives me sore throat, the right amount is healthy for the body. And again this right amount is also not set in stone, I just listen to my body, for example sometimes I feel thirsty even after having drunk plenty of water and sometimes I don't feel thirsty at all for a long time. I also tend to mistake thirst for sugar craving. If you don't mind me asking, do you sing or do anything related to voice ? Voice tends to reveal a lot about a person. IP: Logged |

I understand that. Lemons and limes after a short while leaves me much more thirsty. I wondered if the acidity might be negative to the v. Chords.
I am no singer, except at home. However Tr Sun is visiting my 5H (Taurus) and My MC (Libra) has me question my abilities. I inquired in the personal readings forum. I felt the vibes were nice in the responses. I'm certainly not dissuaded from creating the best voice within me possible Now I'm just going to work on my voice and watch for life to direct me from there. What does the voice type reveal? You have me curious.

A while ago I heard that wearing the stone 'Blue Lace Agate' helps the voice (among other things).QUOTE ... (excerpt) These same properties of blue agate hold true for those who do any sort of public speaking. Having a blue lace agate hanging at throat level not only helps the voice to be clear and strong, giving the best impression possible but also helps the speaker to find the right words to be able to get their point across eloquently. Blue lace agates are used as a healing stone to help people that stutter, have arthritis, severe headaches, throat problems, nervous problems that affect their speech and all types of skin and bone problems. If you find yourself in a stressed out condition for any reason, try meditating with one or more blue lace agates. They can help you let go of the stresses so you can be in a peaceful and calm state. end/Quote http://gemstone-dictionary.com/blue-lace-agate/#.WQ4BfYWcHIU (topic) How To Express Yourself & Find Your Voice W/Blue Crystals...Let it Out! Do you have Taurus on your 6th House cusp? Where's Venus, and what aspects?tPluto can be present with hormone change. But I haven't researched that in a while, so, don't quote me on that till I fact-check. LOL. Have you had your thyroid checked? Are you drinking enough water? Are you living in an area where your sinus allergies have kicked up for a period of time? There's a laryngitis transit. I went through that decades ago. Stayed active for months! IF I get the time, I'll see if I can find what that one was. (no promises there! don't want to over-promise) IP: Logged |

Cetain things about the personality. Voice reveals a lot about chakras in my observation. Those who have issues related to sex tend to have a particular kind of voice, I can pinpoint it most of the time when I hear them. Those who try to maintain control all the time or have been disciplined a lot during their upbringing seem to be unable to sing high notes well, they also seem to speak in a monotonous pitch. And those who have been dominated/bullied by others seem to have trouble shouting, because the voice needs to come right from the gut, or the lower chakras which are related to power, courage. Cerebral types usually seem to speak in a high pitched tone, because they tend to live in the upper chakras most of the time. Again, these are just my own observations, they do not apply in all cases. IP: Logged |

I am in awe of your conclusions, which sound extremely on the mark. I can say you described my voice well in this observation. I'm unsble to shout and was always told to speak up. In this parallel, my root chakra may need work to put force into my singing voice. I have been working on my deep inhale & exhale breathing exercises. Soprano may never be my tune of voice. This was truly enlightening, AnonyM. Thank you! IP: Logged |

I have not completely re-read this thread; just a quick skimming. However two things that may help are:And this may sound strange; but it works! When you get a sore throat especially with lots of gunk and phlegm; even a super tickly dry throat; Get a can of DIET COKE or PEPSI; with Splenda not other sweeteners.(must be a can, for maximum carbonation) Gargle with it by moving your head and neck all kinds of directions, even gently rubbing the outside where the most irritation seems to be inside; then as you gargle; VERY LOUDLY DO YOUR ABCs and growl in betwixt, and do it in different pitches low and high. The throat will become moisturized and or the phlegm will loosen. At that point spit liquid out or swallow. Then repeat 2 more times or until your throat feels better. I get over Laryngitis way faster when I do the crazy gargling. The other thing for maximum projection of ones voice involves proper breathing. You must "belly" breathe. Basically your entire abdomen should move when you breathe, talk, and sing; but lots of folks only chest breathe. http://www.inpursuitofyoga.com/blog/2015/3/11/chest-breath-vs-belly-breath http://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/diaphragmatic-breathing IP: Logged |

Hi Lexx. Yes, it's the belly depth breathing I've been making effort to do. My family consists of shallow breathers. I was a premie and thought maybe that was reason why, yet in my family -I'm the odd duck.
Soda is an interesting idea but I will give that a try. I have Monster energy drinks available. Would that work? Thank you for replying and offering me suggestions, Lexx. Gonna go read the links. IP: Logged |

Even though I'm aware of this, I still find I forget to make it a consistent habit. Hopefully I will get the hang of it eventually.

Mirage,
I've recently rethought this thyroid concept of the chart. I'm not certain I don't have an issue. In fact for years it might have been my trouble but the medical establishment has too small a margin they use wish tsh. Idk. I'm looking into a naturopath. Thank you for this reply. I have several indicators and your reply took a bit of time to get through my hard head. lol

MoonMystic ... I don't know your Sun (Birth day?)You have a Pisces Moon? Moon+Mystic? What degree is your Sag Ascendant? Have you ever joined a singing group? A community (or church) choir? Sweet Adeline's? There's almost always a group 'warm up' before tackling the music they want to practice. During those 'warm ups' ... there is usually coaching on 'how to breathe'. You receive mini-'voice' lessons whenever you participate in {good-quality} choirs. Singing in choirs... Can make you Happy!
