hmm, have made no secret that I dig around cast off things

One of the things that has struck me is cake trays..think faux cut crystal with a cake on on top w/a lid.

To me, it makes a lot of sense...IF one has company over often

Cup of coffee, piece of cake, great conversation.

Archaic, or just a forgotten tradition that still has lots of utility?

Think visiting a friend and having cake and coffee would be great

However, that is just me

It's not old fashion to me. Cake and tea/ coffee. Or scones/biscuits with tea - some may say those are granny's days but who cares?

Nothing wrong in serving it up at home although a majority would rather go out to a coffee shop for a bite and to socialize. Nothing wronf with that either.

Cheesecake Although with the colder weather rocking up I'm leaning more towards the pudding now.

I don't see many mentioning the older traditional puddings much such as bread puddings, rice puddings, sago puddings etc. It's as if foods have become like a fashion statement. Does that make sense?

I mean that when certain puddings etc are mentioned then you're associated with being "old fashioned" but those are the things our grandparents maybe made and we enjoyed.
Besides, it's comfort food.

I have my Grannys cake pedestal w/top.Both are pinkish and made of carnival glass .
I make cakes often and carry on the tradition of cake coffee, family and friends.

When some one is ill or any family member pass`s, a main dish and cake is made for the family.
It , as a social grace, has fallen out of favor but I indulge in any tradition that I wish.

Charm, I have a decadent chocolate pudding cake recipe I will leave on the food snob thread!

Hmm, for me, it just seems like a really good idea, and yes, I do make bread puddings with frosting.

It's a bit of a slower approach to life though

Love it, you know, Granny or an aunt would have a cake pedestal, you'd come over and be like "yum, cake, hope we can have some!"

What kind of crust, Padre?

We just made some little puff pastries for ours last night, and I thought of you.

I hope you have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

Prefer graham cracker crust, but oreo crust sounds really interesting but probably TOO sweet

I've seen those, they look great and if there are varieties even better!

Hmm, wonder if one could be a box of those little debbie brownies, and roll them into a crust or topping?

They are really dense, thick, and chewy so they should stretch out with a rolling pin

Or one could just buy a box of brownie mix, make a sheet of brownies that was thing and cook it 2/3rds of the way then use it as the crust for a cheesecake

Wow...cheesecake with peanut butter brownie crust!

Yeah, I read a recipe where they made little party cheesecakes in a cupcake liner with a cookie at the base for a crust, yum!

You could pick...
