for the rest of your life. A plane will make a drop off monthly with only 10 food items of your choice (from a pre-made list, that you cannot change) for the rest of your life.

(intense, i know)

What are they? & why?

GO!

Do spices count as food? My list will have to include those.

great question!

all are cases

bananas
gov issued MRE ration's B/L/D
oj
dates {Medjool dates}
canned milk
jasmine tea
bottled H2o
matches
assorted periodicals {newspaper, mags}
my rx of contact lenses, with eye wash

I think my answers are pretty self explanatory, as to the why.

You can survive on the MRE's alone, and some of them are pretty good...or so I hear.

:edit:

the water would come in bottles similar to this, and preferably glass.

I had a feeling this post would end up producing more questions than answers!

It seems Node & juni know me well enough..and know that when i start threads like these "rules" dont apply or really mean much & it's true. But theyve inspired me to clarify my loose ones now......

juni & Node,

I hope our islands are not too far apart from one another's. I'm in the process of carving a canoe out of a large palm trunk in hopes of someday reaching you as we speak...

(& yes, sharing/exchanging seeds/food is allowed if one actually makes it to a friend's island)

next question:

What would you make from your choices of ingredients?

Share recipes you might make from what you have on hand (which might include from your surroundings and nothing on your list that was flown in and dropped off......

(btw your island can be tropical or more Alaskan or Icelandic......the choice is yours.

Funny, I had every intention of poking T with a stick [a virtual stick] by posting all food choices.... [with] total disregard as to how I would be able to cook them...you know pesky details like do I have pots & pans? Knives, refrigeration.

With that gorgeous waterfall we know that the deserted island is not off the coast of northern climes...say Iceland

so, on to the new rules.

  • Hand-made tortillas [by someone's grandma]

  • Ground meat blend - similar to meatball mix: Turkey/Lamb/Veal
  • Vidalia Onions
  • Gilroy elephant garlic
  • Three bean blend: Cannellini/Pinto/Black
  • Organic Muir Glen diced tomatoes
  • Greek strawberry yogurt
  • Ground aged Sumatra coffee
  • Colby Jack cheese
  • Granola nut clusters

  • Ground smoked chipotle
  • ground cumin
  • Basil seed

  • Ginger- not a seed technically a tuber...will that fly?
  • Black pepper corns, which reminds me that I don't know if you can grow them?! probably not.

  • Yellow watermelon seed
  • Avocado
  • Romaine
  • Easter egg radish seed
  • RANDOM_ Bailey's Irish Cream--yes, it is food of life....

I expect to become proficient at spear fishing in order to have fish tacos. The meat blend will be used for tacos & chili.

I thought about plain yogurt, as that could be used not only as a taco topping, but blended into guacamole, but then I would need sugar.

I am also concerned about not having a kosher salt pick in my choices...but, my seawater, once evaporated, produces a salt compound to use with those beans.

Have no doubt, T my raft will set sail shortly, with Wilson at the bow.

to
Charm for a pinch of this or that and
and to T
for a canoe cruise .

My random thing

my Labs.

Any extra avocado will be used as a mask for natural sunscreen.

I will be colorful Juni, so beware and don't shoot the strange green creature off your coast.

Hopefully there'll be some fruits on the island already such as coconuts and bananas. Pinepples would be nice. They could be used as 'cups' when the fruit is carved out.

Going to pop these into a bag. They don't take up much space:

Pepper corns
Salt
Cinammon
Myrrh gum
Masala
Tumeric
Bay leaf

And some
Garlic
Chillies
Ginger
Onions
Green peppers

That's for now.
