I don't have anything to say right now. I guess I'm just reserving this, should anyone want to chat in the future.

Is anybody here? I can't sleep, and I'm up alone, missing my dog who always kept me company.

We still haven't thought of a proper name. He has a bunch of nicknames. I don't know why we can't do this anymore.

Another feral or stray cat that's been hanging around for months, just walked into our living room. He ran outside again, but he's watching from the garage. I think he's been living there. So I might be able to help him.

Ginger cat has decided that he loves me, over the past month or so. We were friends before, but he was skittish, and fickle. Now he runs towards me, purrs, steps into my lap, and puts his nose to mine. And he answered to Gilbert, about a month ago, so I guess that's his name, although I was looking for a prettier one. I still can't believe two of my cats got lumped with Button and Cutie as names. I suck at this now.

teasel, you're one of my favorite people on here, I think in part because you make the Venting thread feel like an accepting space.

I love kitties, too. I've gotten worse at naming them over the years as well...our outside feral turned pet is stuck with Buddy. It's too late to change it because he has started answering to it and I don't want to confuse him.

Hi SV. I'm glad you like the thread, and feel safe talking there. That was my intention.

We have a new stray in the house (suddenly), and dad isn't happy about it. I was hoping to get her into a rescue, because I can't handle another cat, either (and she might be pregnant - I love kittens, but can't handle more of those, either). She's a tortoiseshell with a white-tipped tail. Maybe I'll call her Tippie, LOL. That just came to me, as I wrote her description.

"Relentless isolation is not at all romantic. It's far worse than the stress of social life."

"Such accounts are confirmed by a growing body of psychological evidence that indicates that supportive social contact, interaction and inclusion are fundamentally important to a minimally decent human life and, more deeply, to human wellbeing. For the most part, we need one another; we cannot flourish or even survive without each other. These fundamental needs are the ground for a range of rights that we neglect, but should not, including the rights to be part of a network of social connections."

This is why it's so awful to mess with someone's social and familial connections. Or to try to isolate them, and hope they go away.
