The High Priestess is the third card of the major arcana. It is represented by the number 2.

The High Priestess is a spiritual card. She signifies stillness, withdawl, intuition and a time to look inside ourselves when we seek more than answers. It's a time to rely on intuition rather than your intellect.

We will interpret the meanings of the High Priestess relating to different situations at as we go along.

Hello fellow Knowflakes

Are there any questions before we proceed?

Have to get some traffic in here. It will pick up eventually.

I've always seen a part of myself in the HP. It is one of my favorite cards. To me, she represents the wise, analytical writer that exists within myself.

I've yet to meet many HP individuals. One of them, though, happens to be my english teacher. She's very much the HP, and a Gemini too.

Why would you see the high priestess as a writer? She knows the secrets and the occult. Therefore she would not reveal those in writings as she understands that the truth can only be understood by those who are ready to receive the knowledge and holds her wisdom inside. If she would write it down and bring it out into the world, misinterpretation would happen.
She rules silence over speech. That's why parts of the Torah in her hands are unrevealed.
The Magician is the traditional card of the writer. He is the messenger and is ruled by Mercury.

I always think of the high priestess as a card for the third eye, like a psychic. Also, someone with an indigo or violet aura, not sure why. Are those pomegranates in the picture?

Hi
Yes. Pomegrates Referring to fertility/femininity. The other image on the veil refers to masculinity. So pointing out the duality again, but also that one doesn't exist without the other (one of the secrets she holds within).
It's also the card of a psychic. Alone or sometimes accompanied by the Moon to point out intuitive abilities of the querant (and cups cards).

It's palms...
I've also seen referred to the image on the veil as the tree of life and the pomegrates as a referral to the legend about Persephone (having to spend 1/3 of the year with Hades because she ate the seeds of the pomegrate).
I generally have a Goddess Hecate feel with the card though, because she is the guide in the underworld...

This interpretation reminds me of the Oracle in the movie The Matrix. She never gives an outright answer, she only shows the path to the answer. Only when you arrive at the answer do you realize the truth in the apparent mysteriousness of the Oracle's message.

I think she even says "I only show you the path, you must walk it."

There was a time when it came to me that the Sea in the background was very meaningful. Also, the Pillars, Jakin and Boaz. She became the embodiment of The Temple to my mind. I still get a very Deep Meditative feeling in my Third Eye as I contemplate this Key.

The High Priestess of the Silver Star

Isis Veiled, as compared to Key XVII, when She Unveils and makes known to us Her Sacred Mystery...

Ha, I only noticed it when I painted one...

I think it was the seagull silhouette that gave it away in that version. What does her skirt make you think of?
