okay really stoopid question...you'd think I should know better after 500+ posts in an astro forum but anyway...

What is the major difference between a square and an opposition?

good questions

Aqua, The Sun is the giver of life and always very important, this is your core.
Sign, house, and aspects modify this because the Sun is just one piece of the your astrological profile.

In your natal, you have the Sun in the 8th house, a suceedent house and not the first thing you see. But you are still very much an Aquarian, and a stubborn one An outstanding quality of Aquarians is their ability to forsee progress before it happens.

Using your chart as an example you have the Moon, Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune within 8 degrees in Cap/7th house. Now this you can see.

Hot_ice, the major difference between an opposition and a square (both hard aspects) is that with the opposition it comes down to a choice, one or the other and with the square its a compromise.

Both the trine and sextile are easy aspects. They connect the energies of the 2 planets in a positive, complimentary way. The sextile to a lesser degree.
But remember an exact sextile is stronger than a wide trine.

I was wondering about interpretation of stellium in signs and houses. I understand that it highlights the most significant area but wasn't able to find more specific information. For instance, in my solar return chart I have Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius, which is also my Sun sign. Jupiter, Mars and Mercury in Second House followed by Moon, Pluto, Sun and Venus in Third House. All within 10 degrees or less of each other.

Kamilla,
Are you saying that your stellium is in your solar chart?

Please leave your stats.

Personally I use progressions, now if by progression all these planets are conjuncting your natal Sun then you've got a lot of things going on and to look forward to. I'll know when I see your chart.

Hi lalalinda

Thank you so much for looking into it. I am a bit confused about significance of progressed chart vs. solar return

lala... Hi I recently did a Pullen chart on Astro. com and it lists these stelliums when you add the asteroids listed for you.
They use 3 planets per stellium.. Would you say this a few big ones or would you break it down as this chart did? Take away the asteroids and I only have one. Do you have any info on this big cluster... I've currently got Saturn transitting my 7th house (early). It will conjunct Jupiter this fall and then roll over everything else.....This spans Leo/Virgo 7th and 8th
and one in Scorpio in the 10th

I agree about progressions.

the only other planets (or astroids) I use are chiron and lilith.

A stellium is just a cluster of planets within a 15 degree orb. This is a concentration of energy in a certain area of your chart. Like houses 7 and 8.

Can you post your chart Kamilla or post your stats.

and welcome all newbies to the free astro forum

edit: on the degrees, one planet must connect by at least 15 degrees even though it may be more degrees to other planets in that stellium.

Thanx for the link - good
Quick question though -
This is quote from the link:
"...If a house is empty, it doesn't mean to ignore that area of life. It's means you don't necessarily have complex issues to work out in that area..."
Now I've read 12th house has to do wth Karma, both my daughter and myself have 12th house dominated by Taurus but both are empty - does this mean we have little karmic work in this incantation, or shared karma to do with financial stability and security - possibily explaining why we were both dramatically let down by her father?

Any input appreciated

cat,

"Karma" is a word which is "thrown around" a lot. Some of the most popular astrological "suspects" for "karma" issues are:
6th house
10th house
Saturn
12th house

However, there are SO many different possibilities, looking for ONE source of karma in a chart quickly becomes impossible! Instead, in order to understand "karma" in a chart...we can go understand the meaning of the word "karma".

"Karma" literally means "action"...and is often used to describe the actions we took in a previous life which led to this life. The ONLY area in a chart which most astrologers agree MAY have something to do with "previous" lives is the South node. However, they ALSO agree that focusing on what you DID may cause you to ignore what you are DOING.

Consider that every day we are doing things, which creates "karma" for THIS life...since quite often we have "instant karmic consequences" in which we have to face the results of our actions. This suggests we need to focus on where we are GOING, rather than where we have been. This is indicated in the chart by the North node...so whatever house the NORTH node is in your chart, indicates your life "destination".

Instead of focusing on past disappointments and issues between you and her father/your daughter, focus on what you can both achieve TOGETHER by you each focusing on the North node in your chart.

Karmically,

Tim

Thanx Tim that does give me a new 'focus' with my chart - I know it is ok for us to ask questions here at Lindaland, we are all learning and that's why it's great to be a member...
I did just want to say though, that I'm not a saddo or a victim, just at a bit of a turning point in my life
and trying to figure out where to go from here and how to remain positive in the face of repeatative adversities - so thank you for your continued input at this time...it is most appreciated
