I was just reading about this aspect on CafeAstrology and can't find much else about It, their score for this aspect is -197 so I'm guessing It's pretty bad...

Have any of you experienced this aspect in Synastry?

In my experience it's not a very strong influence at all. I ignore it.

The moon is a very intimate part of one's horoscope. It's not something that a person shows right away but as a relationship develops. While the ascendant is the first thing someone shows to others. So I guess maybe in the square, the moon person probably at first doesn't see the ascendant person as someone they can share their feelings with... but most people don't want to share their feelings with someone at first anyway regardless of the aspects.

imo the other planets square the ascendant are more noticeable.

I have experience with that aspect. I'm the Ascendant person and also Moon person in more than one relationship and I never feel it, so I'm agree with manderin.

Yes, I do have experience with it.

My Moon 12° Capricorn is square Asc 12° Libra of one of my closest (male) friends. This is an aspect that allows easy rapport on a personal level if the Moon person remains receptive; inclusion as if family but also potential boundary issues; potential tensions around differences in attitudes that may feel more pronounced than normal.

Overall, it depends on what other aspects are involved with Moon / Asc on either end.

By matter of comparison, I also have Moon opposite my dad's Asc 11° Cancer. With the inclusion of Saturn on his end (10° Cancer), it is a much 'cooler' dynamic that took years to warm up. Being familial in nature with him as my father, it is harder to get objectivity on that dynamic, but it involves very similar ones to what I described with my friend above.

ALL Moon/Asc aspects are significant, but you must first know you have an accurate Asc figure. More a challenge than it seems, particularly when the Asc is the other person's and you don't have the knowledge of how to verify it.

It seems the general consensus is that it's not overly disruptive depending on other aspects and circumstances

Thanks for all the insight

Yes, squares are not of themselves detrimental.

Squares often test how we are willing to connect and respond to those who have a different life orientation or attitude. If we're looking for associations with no such challenges, then we're in for plenty of disappointment, disillusionment, resentment.
