I've read that compatible Mars signs is crucial to intimacy (although I know that taking the whole chart into consideration is important)

I have Mars Scorpio and I've had a few relationships with Mars Leo, two of which squared my own Mars sign and the love life has never been impacted in a negative way

Could this be because my Mars is in 'domicile' or because they're both fixed? I have a Scorpio Stellium but a Leo rising so that could have something to do with it?

I have this with my partner and the sex has always been physically fulfilling and every time it surprises us, like wow that was good but I don't long for him and I dont feel he touches my soul in bed which is what I care about, romance in the context of sex and feeling loved deeply at a soul level during sex, I dont care if I orgasm or not but if our souls touched and kissed. I am mars in leo conjunct venus square his mars in Scorpio conjunct Uranus, my ascendant conjuncts his mars uranus and DC.

If his mars did not conjunct uranus I feel that perhaps he would approach sex in a more soul level but he is more physical and detached.
