Hello, I have two questions (for now) What is a Nakshatra in a Vedic chart? Are some natal Nakshatra's more important than others? If so, which one(s) should be focused on?

Earth's Moon orbits around Earth every (approx) 27 days + 7.75 hourszodiac (circle of animals or our natal chart) has 360 degrees, when we go around all the zodiac sign. divide 360 into 27 slices each slice = 13 degrees 20 seconds of arc, that is how long each nakshatra is. The Nakshatra is determined by in what degree your moon was when you were born and that is how it falls in the respective Nakshatra. No nakshatra is superior or has more advantage, all fall in the same category, with different rulers and different properties. Hope I could shed some light. IP: Logged |

Thank you Queen. Yes you definitely shed some light on this topic for me. Another question is that if the Nakshatra is, as you said: "The Nakshatra is determined by in what degree your moon was when you were born and that is how it falls in the respective Nakshatra." Then does this mean that the Sun, moon, Mars, Mercury,Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu etc Nakshatra's are connected to the moon's position as well. Or are they connected to where those plantes / star's / asteroids are located?

Hey...so each planet falls into a Nakshatra based their degree (longitude) in the birth chart, just like they fall into a zodiac sign. As per vedic astrology, the Nakshatra of the Moon is most important. The vimshottari dasha system used to predict life events is based on the Nakshatra of the Moon. Here's a an article that has more info: www.farfaraway.co/blog/vimshottari-dasha-based-astrology-predictions quote: [N] Then does this mean that the Sun, moon, Mars, Mercury,Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu etc Nakshatra's are connected to the moon's position as well. All Nakshatras are important, first astrology in India began with the Nakshatras or star constellations. Even today, you can find that the Nakshatras are more accurate than signs. For e.g. if you are a gemini moon as per Western astrology and Taurus as per vedic, say 23 degrees gemini western. The nakshatra is "Krittika" ruled by mars named after the seven sisters. Mars is ruled or other name of Mars is Lord Kartikeya, the warrior god. He was the first son of Lord Shiva who is known for his valour, aggression but also for his disobedient behavior towards his father. Kartikeya is more or less of an outcast and has rebellious attitude although is extremely emotional. The person born under this nakshatra will reflect the qualities of Kartikeya. This nakshatra comes under "Vipat" Tara, which means obstacles, controversies and struggle. You can take a look at examples of the ones born under this nakshatra and tara: Ex-Indian PM Mrs.Indira Gandhi (Vipat tara) Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt (Krittika Naksh) Hollywood actor Brad Pitt (Vipat tara) Indian Emperor Chhatrapati Sambhaji (Krittika) ------------------ Free Information on Love Astrology IP: Logged |

Nashtras break the sky into 27 equal parts instead of 12 known to us as zodiac signs. Every Nakshatra has their own characteristic. At the time of birth every Planet is in a Nakshtara just like it is in a sign. I think, the Nakshtra placements are the essence of Vedic astrology, The nakshatra of the Moon, in particular, has been used by vedic astrolgers for many years to predict life events.
