I don't like Whole Sign Houses. For me, nothing changes Houses in my Natal btwn Tropical and Sidereal/Vedic except for the Nodes - and the Tropical/Placidus is dead-on while Sidereal/Vedic is ehhh.

Recently, I've become intrigued by the Tropical Signs/Sidereal Nakshatras system used by Ernst Wilhelm and others, but Ernst's calculator/website uses Whole Sign Houses, which is just deaddeaddead wrong (e.g. My Sun+Merc+Pluto get moved from H6 to H7, and my Moon moves from H8 to H9).

I'd like to investigate this system, but WSH is an instant disqualifier. I can't even use Equal Houses like the ol' sage Linda Goodman did, because it makes my Nodes H9/H3 which is wrong.

Using astro.com's "extended charts" page and making Divisional (Harmonic) charts but purposefully changing the House System from "default" to "Placidus" does nothing. So how do I get Placidus Houses?!

This pic demonstrates how you can cast a Vedic chart yet have it in Placidus.

I hope this helps, but as far as I know, the traditional Vedic charts are all whole sign.

^ Thanks for the attempt, but that is not the question.

To make Divisional Charts(which Vedic says have meaning) on astro.com, you make the "Chart type"(in your pic it's "Natal [whatever]") "Harmonic [whatever]" as seen here: http://i.imgur.com/BSG9j8U.png

You can note I selected Placidus as the "House type", but the produced chart has no House markers: http://i.imgur.com/yWCTp0G.png
As you can see, the MC/IC are seemingly flipped.

But I've figured out how to get Placidus House Info ... I think? On the "Additional tables" pdf(link on produced chart page), it has the divisions - but they're all kinds of mixed up: http://i.imgur.com/MnWdOdN.png
HOWEVER, if we assume proper sign order, Placidus Houses can be determined (I'd give a cheatsheet but it entirely depends on ASC+if missing/duplicate house cusps, so I cannot give a general guide).

A programmer could make an automatic thingy maybe/possibly. But that I am not.

Download this software called Jagannath Hora, it is pretty damn good, you can even change the house systems there yes, quite suprprising to get that feature in a "strict" world of vedic

For me, vedic is purrfect, or maybe my ASC is a bit inaccurate in western, vedic puts my stellium in 5th which makes sense for me

@anony or anyone

I'm a retard, how do I select/focus on a chart other than the default/Rasi?

EDIT: I figured out how to get the "Key Info" tab to display alt charts, but it does NOT affect the Houses tab (still displays Rasi) - http://i.imgur.com/4HxkwfC.png / http://i.imgur.com/QWaZ1LV.png
Missing feature in JH??

Go to Keyinfo page.

Right click.

There's this option called "Choose the divisional chart for longitudes".

Did I get your question?

I don't think it works really, this entire **** of mixing two systems. I get that people wanna have the best of both, but once you go deeper into the divisional charts and what not, you will get completely different charts, and if you go deeper you might come up with a completely different individual altogether, you get me? Now the question is would it really fit the person, but then again the same can be asked about the original systems used up...soo ehh *shrugs...tbh it all can turn into a complete mind-truck if you just keep going..tsk tskk

That said I agree that divisional charts are for different planes, like from physical level it looks one way, and blah blah blah.

That said, changing nakshatras and mixing up systems, I dunno bout that for now..

Do your D9 Planets change Houses w/ Placidus (use my instructions post for astro.com)? Which is more fitting [if different] - Placidus or Whole Signs?

.

On the topic of Tropical vs Sidereal for D9, my Sidereal version kicks soooo much ******* ass I want it to be true lol. Mars in Scorp-10, Venus in Taurus-4, Sun/Jupiter/Ketu in Pisces, Aqu ASC (woo!!), Merc in Aqua-1 (woo! again)... Virgo Moon is koo too. But IDK if I'm cool enough for all that aha (Tropical D9 has gay Sun-Moon in Libra-Aries, wtt? Sag Venus, boring ass Virgo ASC, WTFSOGAY Gemini Mars).

Also, if AmK, AK, DK, that stuff, goes by Sign degrees -not- Nakshatra degrees, then this Tropical stuff is just wrong. Sidereal MoonAK makes me feel so understood and Western doesn't do it to any degree unless you go deepdeepdeep... and this Tropical mixture thing has MarsAK which is a resounding no. /shrug

(I just want my Ketu in H4 and in Leo, m8.)

I see, so you do not wish to cast a natal with the placidus/vedic mix, but a harmonic one. (Their topic title, Duh girl!)

To be honest I think the whole point of harmonic or D charts are their indefinite houses. You can even see this in traditional D9 charts.

I have Mars AK and I have found the point is to "do", forget about every other crap, or leave them for the rest.

Funnily, if my time is wee bit off my own AK would be Moon too

Damn they even rhyme^ up and down , ROFL

Nah Libra Moon is quite cool. It's Libra Sun/Aries Moon.

My interpretation of Aries Moon is just... they're weak. Ineffectual. It blows up suddenly and bigly, but dissipates to nothing in a blink of an eye. IDK how one can expect to get anything done in life like this, endurance is key imo.

Anyhow, my Sun/Jupiter/Ketu is in H1 w Placidus not H2 (and Rahu is automatically H7 now, not H8). Moon also goes from H8 to H7 which is mildly disappointing. I haven't looked in to which seems more accurate yet.

@anony:

Yeah so it seems we're in the same boat w/ the Nodes at least- our Western/Placidus housings > Vedic/WSH ... for Natals. I posted an anecdote today about someone I know who definitely definitely fits their Western/Placidus Ketu and definitely not as far as I can tell their Vedic/WSH in which it moves Houses.

Anyway there's something that's been REALLY bothering me for a long time. Time and time and time again, I'll read barbarapijan's Nakshatra page for a person's Tropical degree ASC (e.g. me, 27tau, I'll read Mrig not Krittika) and it will fit so, so well ... while the "real" Nakshatra will at best pale. So can you check this for your ASC and people you know personally?

I don't know anyone really, I've tested myself using Sun&Moon to give me more to judge but ... ahh it's a mixed bag sorta maybe.

(anyone else who wants to play this game is welcome; more data points=better)

Huh, I fit Mrigasira(23 degree Gem in Western for Moon) tho, and even Satabhisha(1 degree Sun plus number of planets in Pisces), I can relate way more to Visakha tho(ASC in 2 degree Scorp in Western)...but this chick I met with Scorp Moon, now she I think resembled Visakha much more and she would have it in Vedic , her moon is late Scorp in Western. Now all in all, I think Nakhsatra wise I'm leaning towards Vedic. Even Mars, there's no way I'm Satabhisha Mars, the way I play and all that crap, its definitely Dhanistha, to be honest I can't bloody relate to the Scientist Mode of Aqua Mars at all, in school I sucked at lab, now mylab partner who was kinda born days after me he had Aqua Mars and man he flunked at every ******* thing(same as me in high-school *sobs) but in lab man the guy was Einstein reborn...the way he mixed things up and ran around, perhaps I'm lucky to have my hands and legs intact right now..while me, ehh I didn't even ******* now how to light up the flame...

Huh, so it seems your report matches exactly with mine.

ASC: Tropical, obviously
MOON: Vedic/Sidereal, strongly-to-obviously
SUN: Vedic/Sidereal, but mb idk myself well/could be Tropical
^^ these are my results

explanation:
ASC: to me Krittika is essentially "seeks/likes to be center of attention, is dramatic/likes drama", which is a hard no for me... whereas the "moves/operates hidden/in the shadows" as well as 'esp imaginative'+'private' parts of Mrig spoke to me. And for the part about fellow ASCers, when it said they're misanthropic, suspicious, and to put it better 'have a sober, aka negative, outlook on life' I felt like yessss I've finally found my peoples lol.

MOON: My Moon in Tropical is Shravana which seems like it'd explain a lot because the headline is "careful listener" + Shravana=Moon Ruled ... but it says Shravana is deathly concerned about and will not stand for loss of reputation(public opinion) - and for me? no.

SUN: I identify 100000% so much with Vedic's(Swati). But Tropical is Saturn Ruled, and I'm so Saturn, I could see others viewing me as Anuradha - so I was uncertain which to mark.

Miley Cyrus is a Vedic Vishaka Moon. Fierce as **** , check it: http://youtu.be/7T2RonyJ_Ts

btw if you check the TROPICAL degree Nakshatras for ASC - as you and I both agree fit better - it has the D9 ASC being according to Tropical not Sidereal. That is, I'd be as I am under Ernst and Whoever's practice, Virgo ASC - not cool Aqua.

But since we both agree the Planets [except for Nodes] fit Vedic/Sidereal for all else, how do we calculate D#s?!

I myself am not well-versed in divisional charts, some say D9 is related to marriage, some say this, some say that...so, rest of the D9s I have not quite bothered about, but in D10 I have Venus and Mars in Leo, and it sort of fits the Leo MC theme of tropical as well 5th house energy in vedic, I think its better to use the energy first and see if u possess it tho, rather than other way around...

Yeah I'm just curious about D9 because what I see it as is the overall&end 'strength [or potential]' of planets, so I'm wondering which stick I actually get according to these systems so I can judge my life up against them to see if they're BS or not.

Like I said I have soooo many good things in my Sidereal D9 - own-sign Mars/Venus/Jupiter, digbala (exalted or something by House) Mars/Merc/Venus/Saturn - whereas my Natal itself is poop and uninteresting lol. Since we grow into being or expressing our D9 as we age, a good D9 is significant [even] if your Natal is 'bad' - interesting to ponder.

Anyway, mind posting some charts of yours? Natal w/ Placidus + the "Additional tables" thing (both Tropical & Sidereal).
