I always come across a lot of questions wondering how people can figure out their appearance and their spouses appearances so I thought I'd share some different techniques on how to see this!
You need to have your sidereal information as this is going by Vedic technique.

First technique:

For YOUR appearance: check planets in your 7th house in your D9 chart. If no planets occupy your 7th house in D9, look at the lord of 7th house and what sign it is placed in, in the D9 chart.

For SPOUSES appearance: check planets in 7th house in D1 chart. Again, if no planets are sitting in the 7th of your D1 chart check the lord and where it is placed in your D1 chart to see spouses appearance.

For example: Ketu, Rahu or Saturn in the 7th can give a darker complexion. If you have Ketu conjunct Saturn in the 7th house, the complexion will be very burnt dark and muddy.

Second technique:

For YOUR appearance, check your Ascendant sign, ASC lord and any planets in your 1st house in your D1 chart. Then check your planet with the highest degree, also known as Atmakaraka in Jamini (do not consider Rahu or Ketu when figuring out which planet holds highest degree). After seeing what planet in your D1 chart holds the highest degrees, check what sign that planet is placed in and if that planet is conjoined any other planets. Don't look at planets aspecting your Atmakaraka, only planets conjoined.

For SPOUSES appearance: Check the Descendant sign, lord and any planets sitting in the Descendant in your D1 chart. Then check the planet that holds the lowest degrees in your chart, this is called Darakaraka (besides Rahu and Ketu). Then check what planets (if any) are conjoined your Darakaraka, don't consider the planets aspecting it, only if any planets are conjoined.

You use this technique in your birth chart and the Navamsa only.

Planets that describe the look:

Sun - square body, ruddy complexion
Moon - round body, fair complexion
Mars - shorter, thin body, gives a redish complexion
Mercury - well-proportioned, golden complexion (it is said Mercury has the best body amongst all the planets)
Jupiter - tall, large limbed, fair complexion
Venus - beautiful eyes, beautiful body (curvy), medium brown complexion
Saturn - tall, thin, big teeth, dark complexion
Rahu - dark complexion
Ketu - dark complexion

Signs describing look:

Aries - can give red hair, tall in height
Taurus - tall in height
Gemini - stoutness, average height
Cancer - stoutness, fair complexion
Leo - tall height
Virgo - youthful appearance, stoutness, average height
Libra - average height
Scorpio - shorter than average
Sagittarius - average height
Capricorn - tall height
Aquarius - Average height, darker complexion
Pisces - Average height

You have to take in account all of these things combined to figure out the appearance.

Hope this was helpful!

This is so much fun, I missed when this site was about sharing knowledge and helping each other out. This was the theme until "exchanges" started.
Thank you, very interesting, I have moon in my 7th house in navasma.
and no planets in D1 but still its Libra sign.

Of course!!
& Exchanges? What do you mean?
No planets in 7th house in D1 means you need to check where your Venus is placed - for example if it is placed in Saturn ruled sign (venus in aquarius or capricorn) then spouse may be darker complexion.

With moon in your 7th house in D9, without knowing which sign I can't give a guess as to what you look like but it does mean you may attract a younger spouse? Does this sound right to you?

Does it mean I just need to create a sidereal chart? I find the vedic charts very difficult to read.

Why no Uranus/Neptune descriptions? Are they not considered? I've Moon/Neptune in my 7th sidereal.

"Moon - round body, fair complexion "

Fair complexion, yes... all my partners have been fair. But round body? No way. haha...

@hiraku29

Uranus, Neptune and Pluto aren't taken into consideration when reading sidereal charts because they are the newer planets and also generational, slow moving planets that vedic astrologers are still working on how to implement/interpret them into sidereal readings.

I know you can get your sidereal chart through astro.com and under zodiac, choose 'sidereal' and in the 'ayanamsha' bar, choose hindu/lahiri.

I use vedic-horo.com to read any sidereal charts because it shows you each divisional chart, as well as gives you the nakshatras for each divisional chart, as well as lets you look at aspects easily onto other houses/planets, as well as tells you what planet is debilitated or exalted, or in friendly or enemy sign, and it also lets you do numerous other things.
